xxxRhianna looked down as a bullet whizzed in between them, catching Adelaide's shin. Almost absently, she numbed the area around it with a sheen of frost, dulling any pain and keeping it from bleeding further. Her partner seemed to be deep in thought and didn't say anything, a rather troubled look on her face. A few other rebels were running into the woods with them, but there really wasn't any kind of organized escape attempt. How could they, really, when faced with the carnage and death back at the camp? It was slightly troubling; Rhianna had never seen Rick react in such a way. He must be getting senile in his old age if he suddenly wanted to kill instead of capture the mutants. And why hadn't she seen any mutants fighting along side the mercenaries? Bullets and guns were all well and good, but she had taken down one of them easily enough.
xxxAmateurs. Rick was really letting his military-esque force go.
xxxSlowing to a job as the sounds of gunfire faded behind them, Rhianna paused to catch her breath, glancing over both herself and Adelaide for injuries. Aside Adelaide's grazed shin, they appeared to have come out of it just fine. Impressive, with all the firepower the mercenaries had been bristling with. Like she had said, amateurs. As they came to a stop, she saw Adelaide's face shift from deep thought to worry to anger all at once, and she whirled on her suddenly, eyes sparking. "Just what the hell were you thinking, stopping to pass a message on to Rick?!" She jabbed a finger at Rhianna's chest, and on instinct, a wall of ice formed in front of her, three inches thick and spanning the space between them. Rhianna dropped it a moment later, realizing Adelaide's intentions had been to attack or even hurt her. It seem the lab had gotten to even her, despite the fact she hadn't fought for over three years.
xxxPausing to focus on Adelaide's rant once more, she allowed the words to wash over her like waves on a shore. "You froze one of them, with god-knows how many others just waiting to pull the trigger! You careless, stupid... idiot!" Silence fell between them for a few moments, worry in Adelaide's gaze and annoyance in her own. The other girl roughly wiped at her eyes, and Rhianna's annoyance faded, though not all the way. Adelaide's misplaced anger and worry was out of concern for her. Still, her tone wasn't gentle in her reply. "First of all, I'm not a child, so don't try to treat me like one. I can send Rick a message if a wish, it isn't really your concern. Perhaps it was unwise to do so at that time, but nothing bad came of it, so there really isn't any cause for your anger." Another short silence followed, and she softened her tone slightly. "They were more concerned with capturing or killing as many mutants as they could, if one of their own fell they moved on and most likely paid it no attention. And like I said, I'm fine so don't worry about it."
xxxDeeming the conversation over and done with, Rhianna lowered her gaze to Adelaide's shin, scrutinizing it. "I don't think you have any shrapnel or pieces of the bullet in you, since it only grazed it. I can keep up the numbness for as long as you like, but it would be best to find some type of bandage for it nevertheless, It doesn't look that deep, fortunately." Briskly, Rhianna brushed herself off and took a glance around, trying to determine their location. "We should probably find the other rebels, since Rick pretty much left us for dead. It would be no use going back. We could travel with them for a bit just since there's more safety in numbers. Not that we need safety of course, we're too good for anyone to catch us!" She offered Adelaide a smile, knowing she was still probably angry with her. Adelaide was more the type to discuss feelings and express them, but Rhianna disliked both actions. She didn't mind Adelaide did those things, but minded being roped into doing so herself. They still had a mission to complete, more or less, and she distracted herself with that.
