The air shimmered with small specks of light, reflecting off the water to form a beautiful glow. That same
glow spread itself across the cave's walls, bathing the room in it's light. Dripping resounded throughout the
space, repeating steadily; practically the only sound within the cramped space. More lights decorated the
roof of the cave, flashing at random intervals and setting off what seemed like a miniature light show.

Soon the sound of tromping paws interrupted the peaceful silence, accompanied by what seemed like
the splashing of water. A creature raced through the darkness, a glowing bundle held between it's teeth.
"Aha, there they are!" The creature, now known as a "he", exclaimed; gaze directed to the ceiling above.
A silly little grin spread across his maw, and he reared up on his hind legs. Keeping a good balance he
remained in the upright position, a large paw stretching towards the glowing light. "Almost got 'em..."

Thump.

In one swift movement, he slid backwards and fell right on his rump; a surprised squawk escaping his
mouth in the process. Now he laid sprawled out in the shallow water, unmoving for a moment or two.
The next thing you knew he had sprung up again; this time, hopping up in an attempt to grab at the
glowing lights. This time his claws nicked the ceiling, and several of those lights rained down to the
rocky formations below.

"Yes! One for Ari, zero for the glow-worms~"

In jerky movements he began to scoop up the glowing tidbits, occasionally dropping a few by the waterside
and forgetting to pick them back up. Forgetfulness was part of his being, of course. So was the clumsiness,
which was causing him to drop the critters all over the place; carelessly shoving the remaining glow-worms
into the sac that he had been carrying.

With a snort of satisfaction, Ari the plumerian fumbled about with his paws and tied a knot at the end of
the bag, opening his jaws and picking it up in a matter of seconds. Somehow he managed to hold the bundle
with the same smile spread across his visage; almost as if no worries plagued his mind.

The pattering of paws filled the cave once more, and Ari bolted out of the dark cavern, the glow of both his
pelt and eyes vanishing as the sun beat down upon him. For a moment he was forced to squint, yet the speed
of his run never faltered. Running strides soon turned into prancing steps, while soft blades of grass turned to
small pebbles. All along the way his smile had held strong, until he came across a bed of flowers; roses, peonies,
daisies, and an assortment of different pansies.

That was when Ari's smile began to falter, only when his eyes met a shape looming before him. "Hey ma, I brought
some glow-worms... Y'know, the ones you always talk about and think are so cool... and the ones that you think
are magical?" At that mention the monochromatic plumerian set down the bundle, undoing the knot and flipping
the sac upside down so the glow-worms spread across the flowers. Now, a sigh escaped his jaws.

"I can't hide anything from you, can I? I know... I've always been bad at hiding my feelings. You don't mind if I
stay here for the night, do you?" Settling down, Ari set his paws beneath him, an uncharacteristically serious
expression taking over his face. "Tell Dad and Grandmama that I'm going to visit them soon, too..."

Before him loomed a sullen, grey rock; a tombstone, the words "Shelia Kuro - Loving Mother" scrawled across the stone.

Lunara Glow

Story:

As a child, Lunara was very loud, happy, and usually had good luck.
She found she was especially good in science, leading her deeper and
deeper into astrology, study of the galaxy.
She soon became a freak for it, and it would be all she talked about.
She lost friends, leading her to a silent world of misery.
She learned the only way to make more friends was to be
quiet. So quiet she was. It made no difference, but put
her in that 'Loner/Emo/Quiet" category of people. She
slowly slipped away to a world of depression, which lead
her to thinking. What if she dedicated her life to science?
I don't mean donating her body, I mean studying science
rapidly. She learned all about astrology, and a little about
geology for asteroids and such. She is now very bright,
and people refer to her as "Shining Star" sometimes, as
an insult. But she sees it as a compliment. She is starting
to rise up and out of depression, but very slowly. She is
constantly trying to make friends, as she is very lonely.
Her best friend is a plush Desmond the Moonbear,
and is her true main source of happiness. She easily
gets to hot, and prefers to stay outside at night.
She built a fort in the brush of a tree. Half of it is
covered by a roof, the other half isn't. She often
sleeps there, or stays there as it is comforting.
As her social life disappears, her genius only grows.
