"Why do they call the season fall?
Leaves fall, true, but it personally
causes my - and that of some others I know -
spirits to rise. That matters most, no?"

Adoption-specific info
Kennel: 54
Reason I want it: I adore the pony's design - the browns and yellows go beautifully together, with the scarf being a nice touch - and she has an interesting cutie mark, one that, upon first sight, made me wonder just what it was supposed to represent. Something I tend to dislike while adopting MLP characters is their cutie marks defining a personality far too much, so an ambiguous one with jsut enough information to start is nice. <3
Where will I use it?: Roleplays, most likely, since my art skills... aren't exactly up to par. She seems versatile enough to use in a variety of MLP-related RPs. Outside of that, probably some art on dA occasionally, and of course some stories if I can think of any.
Basics
Name: Autumnfall
---Nicknames: Au, Fall
---Name origin: Her birthday, her colours
Gender: Female
Approx. Age: 20?
Species: Earth
Beyond the surface
Cutie mark/Talent: An orange leaf surrounded by a few paint-like splatters. Represents her skill for painting and drawing inspiration from nature.
Occupation: Photographer, sometimes sells drawings she makes in her free time.
Residence: Ponyville
House: Along the borders of White Tail Woods is Autumnfall's home, a relatively simple affair smaller than your usual house, but just as comfortable.
History: Autumnfall was born on the fourteenth of December. A happy and healthy filly, she was carefully taken care of, for her parents, while not overbearing, wanted her to be in the best of health lest she become sickly during the coming winter. When it came, she was kept inside for the months that passed until spring arrived. Even when it did, however, she far preferred to stay home, having grown used to it by that point. While her parents found this strange for such a young pony, they certainly saw no need to complain about it.
Soon after she was enrolled into school, she discovered a burning passion for art, and she began doodling wherever she could - in her textbooks, notebooks, everywhere. As long as she had a pencil and a piece of paper, she would draw anything that came to mind. Nature, at first; plants and trees, before she decided that those who drew actual ponies were better. When her teachers began getting mildly annoyed, her parents bought her an easel of her own as a 'creative outlet', so they called it.
With it, she began to paint. She had, it seemed, been born with a natural skill and plenty knowledge for just a young filly. But she was always unsatisfied, even when her parents and sister complimented her art. Autumn insisted that nothing she drew had any life or feeling in it. It was always empty. She strove to improve, spending much of her free time looking out a window, studying the ponies that passed by her house. Her hope was to gain some sort of revelation that would teach her just what to do.
Eventually, autumn once again came. A friend suggested that she participate in the Running of the Leaves, a yearly event that happened fall. While she refused, knowing she was a slow runner, she decided that she could at the very least come as a spectator. Perhaps, she reasoned, such a lively event would help her with her art.
Thus, when it came, she was sitting in the sidelines, watching the racers prepare. She brought with her all art materials she thought she would need - sketchbook, several pencils, and an eraser. However, no new thoughts came to her, and as she tried to draw she found that her art was just as lifeless as ever. Several leaves also fell on her at that inappropriate moment.
After batting them out of her name, she stared at the ground, breathing deeply in frustration. She had allowed the possibility of drawing being her destiny to cross her mind multiple times, and here she was nonetheless, with terrible art. But as she gazed blankly at the leaves, inspiration struck. Without a second thought, she flipped to a blank page and began to draw.
The result was beautiful - a bare tree with small leaves gathered at its base and a few on the branches themselves. It was simple, but beautiful. Most of all, however, it seemed to glow with a feeling of hope and, at the same time, melancholy. Actual emotion. It was all she had ever wanted in her art. As she thought this, she felt a sudden urge to look at her flank, and that she did.
A grin spread across her face.
Not only had Autumn finally perfected her drawing as far as she wanted, she had gained her cutie mark doing it. She finally understood just what it was that she had been doing wrong - before this, she had always looked at the ponies, stayed indoors, and she had always allowed others' views to influence her, even when she disagreed. That was wrong;
she was the artist, not them, and the Earth shaped her art.
All she had to do was realise it.
Personality: Autumnfall is compassionate, believing that all deserve happiness in some form, and she strives to make such a thing happen. Generous and cheerful, she is often willing to give up what she has for the sake of others. She is very devoted to what she does, a fact most cannot forget. She refuses to give up even when she knows she's failing, and once she has decided on a goal, will not abandon it unless absolutely necessary.
She is quiet and introverted, but is up-to-date on most recent gossip due to spending much of her time outside. If somebody is willing to say it while passing by the woods, she's heard it. She tends not to detect even the most obvious of lies for the simple reason of her little interaction with other ponies. Having learnt to be independent from a young age (also the main reason she got her cutie mark), she relies mainly on herself.
Autumn is intelligent - regarding plants, at least, due to her extensive study of them. Oftentimes she might wonder how something about them works, and end up finding a book containing that subject, then read a few more chapters just for the sake of it. She tends to think of herself as amazing, perhaps due to the fact that she is generally considered beautiful even by those other than herself. She tends to be very sentimental.
Pleasures and displeasures
Likes: Autumn. Above everything else, she adores autumn, almost as much as she likes her own life. It was in this season she was born, and gained her cutie mark, and so on.
Tea. She enjoys a good cup of it every once in a while... or more often than that. Her usual breakfast tends to involve at least one cup.
Fashion. Being an artist, Autumnfall thinks it important for one to present themslves respectably. And that she does, when she needs to. She grooms her mane carefully every day, and in trips to Canterlot puts on more than just her scarf.
Photography. Thus her job. Autumn received a camera a while ago, and uses it to this day.
Dislikes: Busybodies. Self-explanatory.
Deadlines. To quote her, "you can't rush perfection!" She's just plain incapable of working within one.
Pessimists. Again, quoting her, "Can't you look in the bright side for once?" They frustrate her, due to bringing her mood down.
Summer. Still quoting her: "But how am I going to wear my scarf in this heat? And besides, my coat's thick by nature, what do I do with it?"
Fears: The dark. How is she supposed to see in it? No more needs to be said.
Fire. Self-explanatory.
Relationships
Family: Coco- sister. Rest unknown
Romantic status: Single. Not looking
Friends: Leaf Gardens. They share the same love for plants and such.
Enemies: Green Cream. Or at least, she dislikes Cream, she isn't sure how the pegasus feels about her.
General rep: Although her name seldom comes up, most in Ponyville at least know who she is, if nothing else. What people think of her varies on who you ask, but it usually borders something along the lines of 'Kinda arrogant, can be annoying sometimes, but still, pleasant in general, great art skills.' Seeing as she is a photographer, many of the smaller names in magazines around nearby cities have hired her at least once.
