Well, a major thank you to Oddly for doing the colour genetics! It was actually the presence of the colour genetics which caught my attention when I first came across a horse from this sim. I found that it was a very detailed touch of realism. Being interested in colour genetics myself, I decided to stay and browse awhile, noticing other brilliant, realistic features of the sim as I did so. Rather obviously, I joined the sim and I've no regrets that I did!

So, with Syd's new option to "Create Your Own Breed", I have been thinking about creating one, but not by myself. I'd like to know if there is anyone interested in helping in the creation of a breed that will excel in driving, but will have a nice temperment. I was thinking the Quarter Horse would make a good influence to the breed (I have a stallion), as well as of course the Standardbred, maybe Thoroughbred, and depending on how many there are, the Arabian? Just brainstorming. If anyone sees an interest in this idea, let me know!

All right, guys, I kind of want this poll on the discussion thread to be over with already, so I'll be closing it tomorrow around this time. Please go vote if you haven't already!

I'm debating going ahead and getting up the parentally-influenced attitudes anyways just to try it out, so we might do that for a bit and see how it works. The more I think about it, I don't like the idea of saying "I want their attitudes to be influenced for this one because they're good but not for this one because they're bad" because that seems like it'd kind of result in an inflation of well-mannered horses. I mean, if you have an approximately 50% chance of getting a "bad" attitude anyways, I figure you may as well try to breed horses with good attitudes together like responsible breeders would in real life. Maybe this cuts down on random crosses? Who knows?

As a quick explanation,fillies are slightly more influenced by their mother's attitude than colts are. With a filly, you've generally got anywhere from a 40-60% chance of getting the mother's attitude, a 20-30% chance of getting the father's, and a 10-30% chance of getting a different attitude that could realistically result from the cross. With a colt, you just shift those percentages to 30-50%, 30-40%, and 10-30%. Horses with the same attitudes will often breed horses of their own attitude, but there's still a 10-20% chance of foaling a filly or colt with a different, similar (either improved or worsened) attitude.

So that's basically how they'd work; please PM me if you strongly take issue with this as I'll otherwise have to generate 162 different outcomes of mare/stallion breedings!

EDIT+ An hour and a half later, the archive seems to be relatively up to date. I can now rest peacefully knowing im somewhat up to date, not off to grab the colour genetics for foals to be done :3
