Since this is the 10th Lutra and its also Christmas, I wanted to do something just a little special, so here's a vaguely Reindeer based baby (specifically Rudolph obviously).

”Rudolph the red nosed reindeer...”

The alarm blared through her room, and Rue sat up, a smile instantly playing on her face. “It’s Christmas!” she whispered to herself, hardly able to contain her excitement. After all the weeks of build-up, and singing, and chocolate, and parties, and cards, and… The big day was finally here. Rue sprang up, and couldn’t help but squeal in delight as she saw the padded-looking stocking hanging off the bedpost. “It’s Christmas!” she cried again, wanting to shout at the top of her voice. But her parents were probably still asleep. Rue couldn’t understand why they wanted to sleep on Christmas Day; there’s a whole year for sleeping, but you only get Christmas on one day!

Rue bounded downstairs towards the Christmas tree she and her parents had put up exactly 24 days previously. She loved the way her flashing nose reflected off the silver baubles, and the way the small bells they hung on the branches always seemed to be making a small noise. The excited Lutra entered the lounge, where they always had the tree, and gasped in delight. Santa had been!

Rue sat down next to the pile of presents around the tree, hesitant to open anything before her parents were awake. “Why can’t they be here now?” she sighed, feeling the spirit from just 5 minutes ago slowly draining out of her. Suddenly, the lights flipped on, and through squinted eyes Rue saw her parents spring up from behind the sofa, and yell, “Merry Christmas Rue!” Once again loving the magic of Christmas, Rue and her family sat down around the tree to exchange presents.
