I lived in a cage for months, after roaming in the forest for some time... the humans found me. They put me up, and forced people to give them green notes before seeing me and my little friend. The humans called it... 'money'. I couldn't take it, being trapped forever. One summer night they left me outside, in the cold winds. My friend was small enough, she left the cage and unlocked it. My heart filled with happiness and I ran off into the forest. Not long after, I heard there shouts. "Hurry friend! Their catching up!" I yelled. Moments past and she had not replied. "Friend?" I said stopping in my tracks. I turned only to see shadows looming behind the trees. "Where are you?" I screamed, not caring if they found me any more. A distant squeak told me it was to late. They got her. A tear dripped from my eye. Her sacrifice would not be a waste, I decided , and ran. For hours I kept going. Until, finally, I stopped. My sorrow left me in pain for months, and I survived on my own. One day though I heard that same squeak... "Friend?" I shouted. A squeak replyed to my plea. "Your back!"
