lorelei/female/28 years old/brave/intelligent/ and a bit shy
lorelei was always a gentle girl. but that all changed, the day of the "wreck." lorelei was on a ship with her family, and the choppy waves crashed upon the starboard edge of the wooden beast. the lightning crashed, thunder boomed, and the waves and the jagged rocks overtook the ship. she panicked, and blacked out. she awoke to a grey sky. "am i dead?" she thought. she soon saw the little island she was fortunate to float off onto. jagged rocks lined the coastline, dead grass and muddy sand formed into lumpy, ugly little hills that dotted the landscape. however, what caught her eye was the lighthouse.
the tall structure loomed over the island like a warden and the prisoners he is entrusted to watch. when she realized her predicament, she began to sob. "no one can hear me cry, scream, or shout, i'm dead for sure." she wept for hours. after all, that was all she could do, as her family had long perished in the storm. she wailed, and as a last ditch effort, ran to the old lighthouse. she climbed to the top of the brick behemoth, and began to try and turn the light on, but to no avail.
for days, she slept near the light of the lighthouse. she pushed and pushed, hoping that it would light up. one day, she woke to the tepid, salty, air and turned on the old wheel that powered the light. it shone brightly, almost blinding her from its contrast to the bleak landscape around. she lay for hours, exhausted and malnourished, until salvation came.
a little dinghy boat reached the island, apparently seeing that lighthouse and realizing that it wasn't used anymore. she boarded the ship, and rode to a small coastal town. she later lived a full life. but she believes it isn't the fact that her parents perished in the storm and she lives happily. all that counts is she survived. she was strong enough. stronger than she could ever believe.
