use:: I've been in love with Elias since he first showed up here. He's so cute *.* I've been so busy recently though, and I really want this guy to be something special. I've drawn him a good lot and wrote small stories with him. These works have kind of opened up an idea of what I want him to be like. I'll use him for writing, probably making a journal of adventures based on places I want to go and have been. Of course, I'll use him for art as well, and probably order some as well.

Elias R. Levitt is the name of this fine young lad. His first name was chosen by his mother, who wanted to divert from names that were a part of her husband's heritage. Worried that Elias would forget where he came from, the father convinced his wife to let him choose the middle name. There was little time for him to decide. The man then remembered "Rowtag", a Sioux word that meant fire. Tate was quite a fiery man. Hoping his son would be bold as he was, he bestowed the middle name onto him. In school, Elias was always a bit secretive of his middle name. Despite the curious glances he would get for it, he still liked to explain the meaning of it to those who did learn it.

gender & sexuality::

Elias is a cis male with little interest in romance. While it seems strange, he's never actually had a relationship. He doesn't consider himself asexual, though. It's simply rare that he has feelings for someone. Since he hasn't had enough romantic experience to truly classify himself, he distances himself from choosing an orientation.

age & progression::

Elias is twenty-nine, born with his twin sister. He considers himself to be the oldest still. After all, he was born half a minute before her. She never really minded sacrificing that title to him. When he was younger, Elias was childish. Many teen boys act in odd ways. As high school went on, he realized that partying wasn't actually that fun. He knew there was something he could be doing productively. His junior year, he got serious in his studies. Whether he was studying lost cultures or how to survive in the desert, he went from a careless kid to a rather smart man. After high school, Elias' father and grandfather urged him to follow his goals. They too loved history. It was from them that he got the spark to learn and the support to follow his dreams. They convinced him that he was ready to go on a real adventure. He was smart enough to make it, even without the brawn that some explorers had. His grandfather found him a team that was looking for someone to join them. They wanted someone young and ready to learn, and they had to know the basics. Many men and women going to college for a history degree were offered the opportunity, though Elias approached them. He sent them the essay they required. To his delight, he was called for a meeting and eventually chosen to accompany them. Since then, he's never truly stuck to one team, though he will stay on expeditions for a year or more. He's also developed a sort of style about himself. Whenever he's away from home, he has a box of matches carefully placed in his pocket. He also tends to keep a rope by his side. His kitty often accompanies him as well.

teamwork::

Though Elias seems very nomadic with travels and different people, he likes to stick to specific set ups when working. He tends to enjoy working in smaller groups with certain personality types. The leader and second in charge must be a smart and resourceful type. Most the time, he prefers to hold one of those titles. He may not have the muscle that others have, but his brain is superior to someone focused on strength. If going into treacherous terrain, he believes the deputy should be knowledgeable in survival. Two geniuses leading a team almost insures their survival. Since often travelling with a certain goal in mind or alongside a team with a goal in mind, there's often a specialist of that subject joining them. He or she doesn't necessarily need to be smart, just knowledgeable in the subject they were chosen for. In addition to at least two wise survivalists, Elias does like to keep someone with some athleticism around. He generally employs someone who understands the terrain better than himself. That person may or may not be intelligent. He also may act as a guide on expeditions. Sometimes, there is strain on the group because of beliefs or thoughts on how something should be done. This is why Elias establishes a democracy before conflict may arise. Unless an idea is completely erroneous, he agrees to allow the good minds of the team to vote for what they feel right.

pets::

Fascinated by things all over the world, Elias is very interested in animals. To his dismay, he has very little time to care for them. When he was on a trip to Egypt and saw a small, injured kitten, he couldn't resist. He took her in and named her Sekhmet in honor of the Egyptian goddess of healing by the same name. It was his hopes that a name with such power would give her good fortune. Since Sekhmet was also a warrior goddess, he thought that this may give her a chance to fight. She made a quick recovery. Elias remained in Egypt from shortly after his twenty-second birthday to about halfway through his twenty-third year. During this time, he let the cat hang around the lab and do as she pleased. When it came time to leave, he realized animals weren't allowed to fly traditionally. Unwilling to give up the creature, he found a boat travelling between the two areas. He was allowed to bring Sekhmet under the condition that she remained in the kennels. Graciously, he agreed. Since the rest of the team had already flown back to the United States, he was a bit bored on the ship and spent a lot of time with her in the hull. He's grown very fond of her. Though it requires extra arrangements, he takes her on as many trips as he can, but is careful to never take her anywhere he thinks she may get hurt.

Old Friend - Nelly Rose - Natural Doctor - 24
An early expedition led Elias to the Okavango Delta in Botswana. He was twenty-one at the time, with a group of inexperienced twenty-somethings and teens. There was only one man with experience. He and the other zoologists were quietly observing behavior of the African animals. Since Elias was there only to ensure their safety, he would easily get bored and go off to explore on his own. He was headed for the Salt Islands when he began feeling rather faint. His pace slowed and he forgot which way he had come from. Without thinking of how foolish it was, he removed his loose top. The sun scorched into his back and he found himself unable to move. He burrowed beneath the sun, feeling a slight coolness from the sand beneath the surface. He either fell asleep or passed out. When he came to, he found a young girl sitting beside him. She was in unusual garb and had dyed her hair pale pink. In all other aspects, though, she looked like she belonged in the area. The girl instructed him to come back to her home. He groaned of the heat, not wanting to move, but eventually gave in. There, she treated the burns on his back and allowed him to rest. They talked for a long while. Her caretaker was a doctor sent from foreign lands. He had helped her mother give birth, and when the mother passed, he adopted the girl. Unfortunately, the doctor had to be sent back to his home land when she was fourteen. She assured him that she would be fine living in the delta alone. After being his unofficial apprentice, she knew what to do. She would gather herbs, make medicine, and take trips to nearby towns to help them out. After trading stories, they girl he learned was named Nelly helped Elias find his way back to the group. They talked to each other for a while in letters sent through the Botswana post office, though their communications have been much more sparse lately.

mother - Lynnette Alix - estranged - 48
Lynnette Alix is the mother of five children including Elias and his twin, the ex-wife of Tate Levitt and previously the care taker of Denae Farston. One year after the birth of the couple's twins, Elias and Denae, they married. They remained together for five years, though fell out of love after the birth of their youngest child, Talia. They divorced and Denae went with her mother while the rest of the children stayed with their father. Lynnette now resides in Nebraska.
The forty-eight year old women has fair skin and dark brown eyes. She has coarse dark brown hair, however it's slowly thinning. She's got the bone structure of an athlete though is rather petite. The small woman stands at 5'7". She typically dresses formally and prefers light colors to darker tones. This in addition to slightly wrinkled skin gives her the appearance of an older woman. She's struggling to find a new husband as people tend to find her unattractive in more than just her looks. Her personality is sour. If irritated, she can be very vile, though has a sweet front.
father - Tate Levitt - close - 49
Tate Levitt is 1/4 Sioux Indian. His name means "the wind", honoring his slender figure. He is the father of five children; Denae Farston, whom he is estranged from, Elias Levitt, Ria Levitt, Carson Levitt and Talia Darren. After divorcing his wife of five years, Lynnette, he was too busy being the sole caretaker of his children to bother with finding another wife. He's happy simply with his family, anyway. From the sidelines, Tate has watched his children prosper. He loves studying history and is a very intelligent man, making him proud of Elias. He still worries for his son's safety on expeditions, though knows he's given him the tools for survival. Tate lives in a large home with enough artifacts to seem like a museum. Elias and Ria live with him, though Ria will be moving out soon. Elias is the beneficiary of the home and plans to one day raise a child there.
At forty-nine years old, Tate worries about looking aged. There's not much to worry about though. He's got red-tinted skin and brown eyes. His brown hair is very long and rather thick. Though he was tall as a child, he peaked at 5'6", making him shorter than his wife. He was teased a bit as a child but never paid much mind to them. He continues to wear interestingly patterned clothing. In addition to his unique clothing, he has a kind demeanor that makes him well liked. He enjoys the company of his children and misses Denae. However, he respected her choice to live with her mother, as he was closer to Elias than the girls. When their mother left, he grew much closer to the children, but wasn't too good with discipline. He still loves Carson and all the other kids unconditionally.
maternal grandmother - Susan Alix - distant relationship - 80
Susan Alix is the mother of Lynnette Alix, the wife of Monty Alix and the grandmother of five children. Aged, she's in surprisingly good health. She and her husband live in an assisted living home in Minnesota. There was a time when she got along great with her grandchildren, though she hasn't spoken to four of them since the divorce of her daughter and their father. She speaks to Denae on the phone sometimes but visits are incredibly rare due to their distance. Elias still thinks of his grandmother and would like to visit her, but that's not possible due to the relationship he has with his grandfather.
Eighty years has taken a toll on this kind-hearted woman's body, though she's still in alright shape. Her skin is very pale and her short hair has only traces of brown among the gray. She's got very thin eyebrows to accompany her thinning hair. Despite her body looking a bit worn, her green eyes still shine with happiness. She stands at 5'10" with only a slight curve to stature. Unlike others her age, she's still got a fairly nice build. She likes to wear expensive jewelry with comfortable clothing. Preferably, the clothing should be expensive as well. While her high expectations were passed onto her daughter, she prefers darker colors.
maternal grandfather - Monty Alix - strained relationship - 77
Monty Alix is the father of Lynnette Alix, the husband of Susan Alix and the grandfather of five children. He's a few years younger than Susan though is deteriorating in health. As such, his wife takes care of him alongside the staff at their assisted living home. He doesn't much like any of his grandchildren, though he has an alright relationship with Denae. The ones that Tate is taking care of, however, he has no room to care for. He feels they've done a disservice to his daughter by staying with their father. Elias, having become fairly rich, has learned to avoid him due to comments about how he's completely left his mother out of his profit.
Unlike his wife, this seventy-seven year old's body has essentially failed him. His skin has lost all color. His eyes, droopy and tired, have a very dull brown within. He's got patches of short, unwashed silver hair. His lips are incredibly thin. Once standing at a proud 6'2", Monty now walks with a hunch, if at all. He's more often using a wheel chair or something similar since his bones and joints hurt so badly. It's unusual to see him in new clothing, or anything different than his navy sweater and sweats. He doesn't like to change clothes. When he laughs, it's very breathy and he tends to have to catch his breath frequently - but few have even heard him chuckle. He isn't very kind to people outside of his friends and family. His friends influence him easily.
maternal uncle - Nathan Alix - strained - 42
Nathan Alix is the brother of Lynnette Alix, the uncle of her children, and once the adoptive father of Kaitlyn. He was once very friendly. Life was great for him. He had a great deal of money and a nice house. Unfortunately, his success cost him a wife. After doing all he had planned - buying a house, a nice car, getting a boat and having plenty of money in the bank - he realized he had ignored so many other things in life. He never found time for love, even when he had crushes on women who felt the same towards him. Work always got in the way. He thought that if a woman couldn't accept his workaholic nature, she wasn't for him. Now that he had all he had wanted, he had ached for family. Since he had everything material, he stopped working entirely and looked for a woman. He never found someone for him and felt as thirty-eight was too late for him. Deicing he could put his life to use somehow, he adopted a twelve year old girl named Kaitlyn. She was cold at first, but quickly warmed up to him. He got her everything she could ever want. When she was sixteen, his beloved daughter was killed in a car accident. Her friends were killed in the crash as well. He became incredibly depressed and has very little to live for. Lynnette entered him into an institution to try to help him, though he's become very bitter and hateful.
The forty-two year old is rather attractive, despite an odd sense of style. His skin is tanned and he has dark brown eyes. Very cleanly, his light brown hair is always neat. Even one stray hair was enough to annoy him. He's allowed his health and appearance to decline, though. He no longer takes care of himself. He stands at 5'8" and has a very small build. His clothing was always tacky and continued to be. As well, he likes them to be tight. His voice is strangely nice.
maternal cousin (F) - Kaitlyn Alix - deceased at 16
Kaitlyn's parents abandoned her when she was young. She never knew why, though it was rumored that she was the child of two big time criminals. Her last name was the same as theirs and she vaguely resembled them. Not wanting anyone to know of her heritage, she asked to change her last name to that of whoever adopted her. It was agreed upon. When Nathan, an older man with no other children or even a wife, showed interest in her, Kaitlyn was hesitant. She had always envisioned parents and siblings, not just one man. Still, he was the only one that seemed to provide ample care for her. She moved to his large estate and found life to be better than she expected. He bought her whatever she liked, including a horse that she liked to enter into competitions. She warmed up to him and enjoyed going out to dinner with him. Never was she embarrassed to be in public with him, which was quite a surprise to him. He was strict with her at first, but gave her more freedom as she got older. When she was sixteen, she was out with some older friends. They crashed on the way back from a party. All of them were killed on impact. The young girl wouldn't even have had time to realize what was happening.
Looking good was a big part of Kaitlyn's life, just like most teenage girls'. She had tastefully tanned skin, dark brown eyes and slick black hair. Her face was rather angled. She had a very elegant appearance, though tended to dress inappropriately. The only time she didn't dress revealing was at school, and she has been known to break dress code more than once. Her father simply wanted to make her happy and allowed her to do so. She was a short 5'3". Many of the boys at her school had been with her. There were two sides of her, and they tended to see her more rough and tumble one. In reality, she could be very kind and calm, but felt able to show that only to her adopted father and the friends she made through the stable. Her party girl attitude was more of an act than anything. She had big plans for the future, a lot of things she had wanted to do and change, but unfortunately, will never get the opportunity to do such.
paternal grandmother - Janice Levitt - friendly - 67
Janice Levitt is the mother of Tate Levitt, grandmother to his children and the wife of Hans Levitt. She seems to be a quite typical old woman. When Tate's children come to visit, she cheerfully greets them with kisses and gives them fresh-baked cookies. She hasn't seen Denae since she was fifteen. Still, she keeps a place in her heart for her. She hopes that there will one day be a reunion. Liam is likely her favorite child, which can cause a bit of conflict if she mentions him. She's learned that it's best to focus on whoever's there. When Elias comes for visits, often with his sisters, they talk about his adventures and what his sisters have been up to. She doesn't really understand how successful Elias has become, though cheers him on as any good family member would. Talia tries rather hard to impress her grandmother. The old women doesn't really agree with her being a lesbian, having been raised in a less accepting time, but scarcely voices this.
Janice has aged fairly nicely, though has certainly lost the appeal of a young woman. Her skin is rather fair. Her eyes appear grey, matching her short, curly silver hair. She stands at 5'3". There was a time where she was muscular, though over time, the muscle has turned into fat, making her a bit plump. There's a faint tattoo on her upper back. It's hard to tell what it once was and Janice can't recall exactly what it is. Pictures prove it was a butterfly. Her clothes are typically rather new and in nice condition, though everything she wears is tighter than expected.
paternal grandfather - Hans Levitt (full moon) - close - 67
Hans Levitt is 1/2 Sioux Indian, the father of Tate Levitt, grandfather to his children and the husband of Janice Levitt. He treasures his heritage and loves history. Whether it's antiques or stories of passed times, Hans will take interest in something with little coaxing. When Elias announced as a young boy he would be an explorer, Hans was amused and intrigued. He would love to be related to a great adventurer. It was slow and hard at first, but the two had always been close. Hans cheered on his grandson. He offered any advice possible, and while he seemed to ignore the other children a bit, he cares for them all very much, but hardly remembers Denae. He's a bit too caught up trying to keep up with Elias' adventures to really bother with reuniting with her.
Hans has a deep red/brown skin. His eyes are hazel, though his wife claims to see tints of green within them. His hair is quite similar to Elias', a long, curly black style. He stands at 5'9" and has a thick build. Old fashioned clothes are his favorite, especially those that relate to his heritage. He absolutely adores anything that has bright beads and paint, or anything else vivid. On his left hand he constantly wears a steel ring, and there's a small bruise on his right.

Personality::

Elias is a man of knowledge. He wants to know everything there is about the world. When he visits another country, he conforms to their culture as best as he can. On his travels, he has to keep a language dictionary by his side, as he's not too good with memorization but too proud to allow someone else to communicate for him. He knows phrases in nearly all languages though is fluent only in English. Some tribes have individual languages that he's caught on to. His travels show him the best and worst things around the globe, which allows him to make very educated choices in his own life. He can seem a bit distant at times but really likes to have fun. The only reason for this is that he worries about trips and has to make sure everything is in order before he feels at ease. When he's just relaxing at home, he can be an absolute blast. His sisters love to hang out with him when he returns. They'll share exotic meals, which Elias has become rather skilled at cooking, and discuss foreign affairs. After the more serious discussion, they play sports or a video game. Sometimes he shares games from other places. His knowledge makes him a fierce debater and he knows impressive tactics when it comes to physical fighting. People tend not to like him, and anyone from his past seems to have gotten over their disdain for him. He's given a lot of respect and considered an expert in many areas. The pride he receives from his family is really all he needs and he thanks them for most everything.

Likes and Dislikes::

food:

The way to a man's heart is by food, and that may be true, even in this hardly endearing guy. He often stays in camps and resorts where he can taste local cuisine. Of all the food that he's tried over the years, Elias can't choose a favorite, but he really likes tacos. He's not very fond with Italian food - though that's likely because he would eat spaghetti, lasagna, and other pastas quite regularly on his last visit to Italy.
animals:

Elias adores animals. Of course he loves his little kitty, but he's a love for the more exotic animals as well. His favorite animal would be the elephant. Elephants walk a great many miles and are incredibly dedicated throughout their lives. He finds them simply fascinating and has even helped at a nursery before. As a kid, he wasn't very fond of lizards, but they've grown on him.
music:

When it comes to music, Elias is pretty varied. He likes most everything, but has less of a liking towards techno-esque songs. Chinese and Japanese styled music really has a place in his heart. From soothing songs played on Shamisen to up-beat Korean boy bands, most all of it brings memories and a smile to Elias' face. He doesn't tend to have favorite songs, as they typically change as he goes place to place.

He's read all the classics twice and his favorite books countless times. Elias enjoys mysteries, symbolic adventures, and the occasional romance. He enjoys more dull-humored comedy books. When given satire, he crinkles his nose, though takes in news and history books like a child takes in candy.
