| Reason You Want It |
Since the day azalea donated him, I wanted him, but, at the time, I was going after azalea's other donation, the donation that would become Soltur. Since then, I have been trying to figure out a place for this guy, but was unsuccessful. Until now. Now, I know exactly where he goes, and how he falls. The once storyless wolf, has found a place in my story.
| History/Background |
We are masters of our own fate. Or so we believe. But I know the truth, the truth that no mortal beast can see on their own. We are controlled, puppets in our lives. We are given a destiny, and have no choice but to fulfill it, no matter what else we would like to do. I was destined to be the Goddess' bodyguard and most loyal angel for eternity. Then I saw the truth.
Then, I fell.
"Marchosias, my most loyal," I bowed as I approached the smiling goddess, pleased to be before her, as her most loyal. It was a honor only bestowed upon myself. I was allowed where no others could be. Except for one place. The Hall of Destinies. The hall where the Goddess determined every beast's fate. No one but the Goddess could step in that hall; it was the most sacred place in the Darklands, where the deities of our world resided.
"Yes, my Goddess?" I asked, kneeling before her. We, as divines, were the only beasts that walked on two legs, though, we were able to become beast-like in the mortal world. According to the Hall of History, the divines are a mix of beast, and a strange, extinct creature that once lived in our world.
"Escort me to the Hall of Destinies, my Marchosias. I have much to do, but I wish to have a guard. This may be the most important destiny that has to be given. It well tie the world together, and determine the mortal's fate," I stood as the graceful goddess did the same, offering my arm to her kindly. Her small paws wrapped around my larger arm, leading us toward the mysterious hall. My curious nature always kicked in when the Goddess came here. I wanted to see, I wanted to understand. I wanted to be a scholar, not a grunt. But fate brought me to the Goddess' side. I could not fight it.
It was this night that I learned the truth of fate.
I waited for half of the stars' movement for the Goddess, not expecting to be waiting as long as I was. She normally would be finished by now. Fearing for my Goddess' safety, I broke the sacred oath. I looked into the hall.
The hall was like no other I had seen. The room black, sparkling orbs, like the stars above, circling as dais, a domed ceiling above the ancient stone. And there, my Goddess stood, holding a tiny tiger cub, one that almost blended with the room around them. Black and silver where all I could see. Then my Goddess spoke.
"Little one, I have chosen you to be the savior. The one to bring the mortal war to an end, though it will not be easy, nor will it be pleasing. You will lose your loved ones, child, but you will find that, when the time comes, you will not be alone. You shall pay the ultimate sacrifice for this destiny, and, no matter where you actions take you, your fate is the same."
I stood back, stunned. My Goddess just sentenced a child to death, without remorse. I didn't know what to say, what to do. This couldn't go on. That cub should have a choice, to live or die. Not to die when told. This was wrong. And I knew it.
"Go, little one. Your mother is waiting. I wish you luck."
I ran.
Later that night, I confronted the Goddess about what I had seen. I accused her of being cold hearted, of being the opposite of what I had though her to be just a sunset ago. She banished me from the Darklands, my oath having been broken. The ancient code was shattered, and I, Tiresia's most loyal, had fallen from grace. But it was when I arrived in the mortal world that I found beasts are much more fun to control.
I met Skaarn. The bloodthirsty leopard was extremely easy to manipulate, telling him all I knew, and my beliefs, that we were not masters, but puppets. He would do anything for me. So expendable. Then the web grew, adding in the grieving leopard Lord.
A war was born, and I was the hidden cause. Tiresia couldn't have forseen this war. There was no end until I said there was. Or until the beasts ended it. We were now the masters.
That was...until I saw her. The cub, now an adult. She was there to stop the war. Tiresia knew. My Goddess knew I would betray her trust, that I would fall, that I would corrupt the land she watched fondly. I was still a puppet. I had been fooled.
We are masters of our own fate. Or so we believe. But I know the truth, the truth that no mortal beast can see on their own. We are controlled, puppets in our lives. We are given a destiny, and have no choice but to fulfill it, no matter what else we would like to do.
And I did.
