@teeni; I wish you luck with your grades!
@kitty; yay! I love fans! They make me so happy <3 And, since you approved, I will see if I start setting up a chatroom for all non-topic convo :3
@Laikyn; I won't give you a huge wall of text, but I will offer a few simple suggestions...
Honestly, something that helps, at least in my case, is reading. Try reading different books with different styles and different perspectives. See what you like, and when you read enough, it makes writing a lot easier. It helps increase your vocabulary and it helps you find ways to word your thoughts properly.
Other than reading, I have to agree with the support group thing. It doesn't have to necessarily be a group, but it helps to have at least one person urging you to finish your book. I would occasionally get stuck and not know what to write, but my mom eventually gave me a deadline to finish and that kind of helped me finish the book.
As for editing and things, I recommend writing the book out first. That is the hardest part. Getting it all written out is the hardest part. That is why some people pay editors. It is easier to go over something and correct it, than to write it all out. Personally, my book still has a few grammar errors and occasionally typos, but to be fair, I didn't get an editor.
It is a continuous work in progress if you self-publish. The benefits might be worth it though, but I am not there yet. There is a lot of investing in your own novel, and to some people, it might just be better to find a publishing company who will solve all the marketing things and editing for you.
@dragon; I look forward to reading your work! I have yet to read a pirate book, so I will have high expectations. However, I will say that if the style is somewhat similar to your roleplaying style, I will not be disappointed! I am constantly looking over the replies and thinking "Hmm... That's extremely well written... I need to practice more... I can do better too." <--This is what got me into writing. Roleplaying is almost like career training at this point. It helps me stay on my feet, and generally, it's practice :3
@anyone/everyone who reads this; so, I will go ahead and make an elders post... Just because I feel that should be helpful and needed... however, after my shower. I need to shower. I just cleaned 3 bathrooms. My hands are full of chemicals and stuff.
