Tigerstep stared, stupefied, as Bounce boldly announced her intentions. Joining the Clan? The medicine cat found himself unable to comprehend it all. Bounce? Joining the Clan? His stare faltered, emotions conflicted. If this were several moons ago, he would have been joyful. In fact, he had encouraged Bounce to join the Clan so long ago, but she had stoutly refused, stating that she was unwilling to leave her companion behind. So why now? It must definitely be the kits. "Joining the Clan," he repeated, studying Bounce. "And why have you decided to join? We don't take in loners freely, you know." He inwardly cringed at the harshness of his words, but he had to maintain a wary exterior. If he had acted any less fierce, then Rosepaw would definitely suspect something, even if she was as naive and dumb as she was. Tigerstep glanced behind Bounce's shoulder at another she-cat. Maggie. Was this the companion Bounce talked about?

He watched with disbelief and embarrassment as Rosepaw naively bounced forward. He held his tongue back, not wishing to embarrass his apprentice before strangers. But he glared disapprovingly at Rosepaw. How could a Clan cat be so welcoming of loners and oblivious to any dangers they could pose? Well, of course Tigerstep knew that Bounce meant no harm. But Rosepaw didn't! His ears twitched, curious, as Rosepaw asked Bounce how far along was he. There was no doubt as to who the father was, right? His heart filled with dread. How could he take back this loner who was pregnant with his kits? The whole Clan would know of his betrayal! Would Leafstar demote him? Or allow him to continue being a medicine cat underneath a stigma of shame? Tigerstep glared at Rosepaw, though he could not find a good reply.

Ah, so it was confirmed. The identity of the father. Cold claws gripped at his heart, filling his body from nose to tail tip with an ominous feeling. What was he supposed to do now? Of course, he ached to bring Bounce back to safety, but what would the Clan think? He wouldn't declare his sins, but he knew that they would eventually find out. Especially if the kits ended up looking like him. But...to leave Bounce out here was cruel. And what of the kits? If these kits were truly his, then how could he cast them away? "Very well," he mewed finally, staring at Bounce with an unreadable expression. "Let's go, Rosepaw," he called to his apprentice, flicking his tail. "I'll let you have some time to say goodbye to your companion," he told Bounce. "I'll be waiting just ahead." He gestured with his tail to the other side of the clearing, towards the direction of camp.

There it was! Right there!

Yes, Emberpaw could see it now. The mottled she-cat could make out the squirrel's ever so fluffy tail and rounded quarters, the rest of its body hidden by tall strands of grass. Emberpaw could feel excitement twitch in her paws. She had never caught a squirrel before, after all. The last time she had been out hunting with her mentor, Mousefur, she had just missed the stupid creature. Her pride, as a result, was a bit damaged. For as long as she had been an apprentice (exactly two moons), Emberpaw had been acknowledged as one of the better hunters. She brought back enough prey to challenge the older apprentices, and her techniques were almost flawless.

Almost. The wretched squirrel just had to prove her wrong.

So, that's why Emberpaw wasn't going to let this creature escape. 'Tail still,' she reminded herself. Her pink nose twitched and her whiskers laid erect against the wind. Yes, this was perfect! She was downwind; the squirrel would never be able to scent her now. 'Just a little more...' Emberpaw crept closer and closer to the squirrel, avoiding the patches of yellowed, crunchy leaves. The foolish squirrel remained oblivious to its inevitable death as it examined a particularly nice acorn.

'Now!'

"What -" Emberpaw gasped incoherently as a weight flung itself on her. Her yellow eyes widened in startled. What was happening? Her mind scrambled, unable to comprehend. 'Am I being attacked?' she panicked to herself. But a laugh registered in her ears, and her eyesight cleared just in time to see her friend's fluffy white tail trail out of the den's entrance. "Cottonpaw!" she cried out after her friend, forgetting the fact that other apprentices may still be sleeping. "I'm going to shred your tail!" she threatened Cottonpaw, scrambling to her paws. Her limbs ached from behind folded underneath her body weight for the whole night, but that didn't stop the mottled she-cat from bolting out of the den.

She exploded into the camp clearing, bits of moss and bedding hanging off of her long fur. 'Where is she?' she thought to herself, looking around camp with widened, alert yellow eyes. "You can't hide from me," Emberpaw threatened, still surveying the camp. Cats were already awake, and Emberpaw was slightly aware of the fact that several may be staring at her as if she had grown a third tail. Hopefully she hadn't roused any of them, but she seriously doubted that she had. Where was Cottonpaw? Ah! 'If I were Cottonpaw, I know where I would hide.' Ha, Cottonpaw was in trouble now!

As silently as she could manage, Emberpaw approached the warriors' den. Cottonpaw was certainly not gutsy enough to hide inside the den, but enough to hide near it. Ha, did Cottonpaw think that a warriors' den could scare her off of revenge? Ridiculous! Emberpaw's ears swiveled at the huffing and puffing of suppressed laughter, and she knew that she had her prey cornered. Not unlike how she would stalk prey, Emberpaw approached the rock and bunched up her muscles, springing over the medium sized boulder and onto her fluffy companion. "Got'cha!" she laughed victoriously.

I keep on running
I’m building bridges that I know you never wanted
Look for my heart
You stole it away
Now on every single road that I could take
I want you to burn my bridges down
Set me on fire
You set me on fire
You can burn my bridges down
Dread filled her as he spoke. Had she been a fool to assume they would take her in? By the look on his face she was sure he knew the kits were his. Words were not needed. Surely he would not abandon them, this tom she had known to love her just over a moon ago?

She was relieved when she noticed his demeanor change as he accepted what was to come. It was in that moment that she knew what she wanted. She did not know what she would have done if he had turned her away. She truly wished Maggie would come along, but Bounce knew it was not the life for her. Still, she knew she would see her again. Of course it could not be the last time. She dipped her head slightly at his last words. "We have already said our goodbyes," she stated solemnly, looking to her companion sadly. She reached up her head and pressed her nose into the fur of the slightly taller she-cat beside her. She had no more words to say, but was also afraid she would change her mind if she began to speak. She pulled away once more and gave Maggie one more glance, rushing after the Clan cats before she called off the whole ordeal.

She fell into step beside Rosepaw as the two followed Tigerstep to camp. She forced herself to tear her gaze away from the handsome tom before her and focused on the younger cat instead. "So your name is Rosepaw?" She said in a light, bell-like tone. Her voice was soft and soothing, like a cloud of feather. "That is very beautiful indeed." She did her best to keep herself composed by distracting herself with a different subject. Rosepaw seemed kind enough; she hoped the apprentice would humor her.

redstrike lifted is gaze from his sister's soft pelt to the she-cat that had joined their conversation; nightfrost. the dark warrior was, thankfully, agreeing with redstrike on his ways of teaching apprentices. the ginger tom gave a half-hearted smile to the she-cat, as if thanking her for being on his side. fawndapple gave what redstrike believed was a huff of annoyance, then a sigh of submission. his sister was never one to let an argument drag on. suddenly, a young she-cat by the name of blackpaw also made her way into the conversation, but for a different reason. blackpaw was nightfrost's apprentice, and knowing her, she was probably wanting to train or hunt. the apprentice rubbed her head against nightfrost's side, and redstrike tried hard to hold back the disgust. showing affection to the one that is going to make you into a warrior? starclan, what is this world coming to? the burly red tom gave a flick of his tail, indicating to nightfrost that she should go with her apprentice.
out of the corner of his leafy green eyes, redstrike spotted leafstar, silently watching as cats filed in and out of camp. he couldn't help but stare, eyes moving over every little feature of hers, from the end of her tail to the tips of her ears. all of those things he had loved so dearly, but now, he would never touch them again. the tom forced himself to look away, thinking he would be seen as rude for glaring at his mate - ex mate, anyway. he knew that what she did was a terrible thing, something he could not forgive her for, but every time he looked at her, his heart made him think twice about letting her go.

fawndapple was settling back down, until the voice of a she-cat broke the peaceful silence. it was nightfrost, simply agreeing with her brothers' choice of training. there was nothing the she-cat could say or do to change either of their minds; she knew that, unfortunately. the pale ginger warrior huffed, then let out a sigh, knowing she had lost this battle. part of her knew she'd lost the battle before it had even started; redstrike was such a stubborn tom, even when he knew that fawndapple was correct, he would not change his opinion. before long, blackpaw turned up to most likely to training with nightfrost, her mentor, and seeing redstrike give an approving flick of his tail, fawndapple knew they would be gone soon.
the she-cat began watching her brother, seeing him gaze longingly at leafstar. despite her brother being so cold and dull, there was always a light in his eyes whenever he saw his ex-mate. fawndapple didn't know quite what had happened between the two cats; every time she tried to bring the topic up to redstrike, he would growl and brush her off. all fawndapple knew that whatever had split them apart, it had been big. the two barely ever talked to each other anymore, yet back when they were apprentices, redstrike would never leave her side.
there was no longer a reason for fawndapple to be with her brother. there were things to do around the clan, and the she-cat was keen on doing them. her yellow eyes scanned the camp, seeing what she could do first.

fernpaw furiously nodded her head at the she-cats' words, smiling softly. "i will, i swear on starclan," the apprentice replied, hoping to keep her promise. fernpaw wanted nothing more than to be helpful to her clan, and if that involved listening to her mentor, then of course she was going to do so. the young she-cat giggled lightly as her mentor gave her a soft, friendly cuff over the ear, instructing her to go and get them the nicest looking squirrel of the pile. fernpaw dashed off to the fresh kill pile, shoulders drooping slightly when she saw once of her fathers' catches had been taken already. this didn't last for long, because her keen senses led her to an even bigger piece of prey; a nice, plump-looking squirrel at the back of the pile. lucky i found it when i did, or someone else would've snatched it up, fernpaw thought to herself. but someone placed it at the back of the pile - maybe they were trying to hide it from everyone else, so they could eat it themselves? or, what if it fell to the back - who knows how long it's been there! fernpaw had to shake her head to finish her endless trail of thoughts, returning her attention back to the juicy squirrel that lay at her small paws. the she-cat managed to grab a hold of it, raising her head high to keep it from dragging on the ground as she slowly padded back to crookedtail. the squirrel took up most of her vision, so she wasn't surprised when she bumped into her mentor. "sorry!" fernpaw apologised, but the prey in her mouth made her apology muffled. she dumped the squirrel at their paws, crouching down beside the warrior. fernpaw murmured her thanks to starclan, before tearing into the piece of prey, savouring the sweet taste.

foxpaw was smoothing down the fur on his chest when his name was called from across the camp. his yellow gaze moved from his stubborn furs to his mentor, frostfire, who was making her way over to him. the young tom straightened himself up and puffed his chest out, despite the fur that stuck out from it. as soon as the question left frostfire's raspy tongue, foxpaw dropped into a crouch, eyeing up a rock that was not too far away from where he was standing. "first, you need to make sure that you're scent is going downwind from your prey, so that they can't scent you." his eyes were scanning the area, as if he hadn't spotted the rock yet. "then, you need to stalk the forest, until you can see it," he continued, eyes finally locking onto the small, grey object. "and when you are ready..." foxpaw waggled his lower body, bunching his developing muscles, before leaping very high into the air, pushing his front paws onto the small rock. unfortunately for him, the rock fought back, its sharp side pressing into the apprentices' pink pads. foxpaw yelped, jumping back and away from the stone with a look of annoyance aimed at it. his gaze returned to frostfire, a grin smeared across his handsome face. sure, he had done it wrong, but that wasn't going to dampen his spirits. in his world, foxpaw had killed that rock, and he'd done it perfectly.

Crookedtail
| Warrior | She-cat | 28 moons | Apprentice: Fernpaw | No crush | Location: Camp | tags; Fernpaw, Duskpaw, mentioned Lionpaw, Redstrike, Cottonpaw, Oddpaw |

Crookedtail padded further into camp as she watched her apprentice bound over towards the fresh-kill pile. A purr rumbled in her throat from the promise. "You better!" She called after her apprentice before sitting down and grooming herself. The she-cat was pleased with the day's progress so far. Maybe I can take Fernpaw out for a border patrol later, she thought briefly, glancing towards the fresh-kill pile briefly before looking at the elder's den. Seeing Lionpaw drop off a mouse for the elders made her proud of the young apprentice. It was always good to think about the clan. Certainly the elders wanted some fresh moss as well. I'll mention it to Fernpaw, she decided before stumbling slightly as her apprentice bumped into her.

"Careful, Fernpaw," the she-cat meowed with a slightly annoyed flick of her tail. However, at the sound of the apology, she sighed and nodded. "It's fine. Just be careful. You're lucky you bumped into me. Any other cat might've shredded those pretty ears of yours." Her words were lightly teasing. She got crouched down close to Fernpaw afterwards and then slowly began to eat the squirrel. It was big and plump, and the taste was nice against her tongue. "You really did get the best squirrel in the pile," Crookedtail mused briefly before catching a glimpse of Duskpaw leaping into the air to gently cuff a butterfly.

With a slight flick of her ear, Crookedtail called out to the apprentice,"Hedgehogs will fly before Redstrike gives any cat a compliment, Duskpaw!" The apprentice seemed to try hard during his training sessions, but Crookedtail understood Redstrikes way of mentoring. However, Crookedtail didnot think so. Apprentices had to be encouraged, at least sometimes. Constructive criticism could also have compliments. Oh, mouse-dung! I forgot to say something nice to Duskpaw, she realized. "I wish you luck though!" were the words that followed, still glancing over at the dark tabby apprentice. She could've said something better, but those words were good enough for now.

"Fernpaw," the she-cat started as she caught Leafstar staring at Redstrike. Before she continued that sentence though, the young warrior realized that she probably shouldn't be engaging in clan gossip with an apprentice. What would Fernpaw think of her? Or the other warriors? A different topic needed to be thought of... and... Crookedtail paused for a moment, now unsure of what to say. Her crooked tail twitched back and forth a few times before she remembered the elders. "Can you, Oddpaw, and Cottonpaw get some fresh moss for the elders later?"

Venompool glanced upwards at the sun when Otterfrost mentioned it, her eyes narrowed at the bright light. A thousand questions surfaced immediately, but the she-cat suppressed them all. Now was not the time to be asking questions-she had plenty of time for that later. Right now, she had to eat. There was an incredibly slim change Venompool would be picked to go on patrol but if it happened to be the case, Venompool wanted to have a full stomach. The mere possibility of going on patrol excited her. Venompool loved the noises, the colors, the scents. All of it was exciting to her. Unfortunately, the she-cat was rarely picked to go on patrol because she had a habit of slowing the others down. She honestly couldn't help it. Venompool just had to stop and look at all the interesting things there were to look at.

The she-cat smirked at Otterfrost when his stomach grumbled, her whisker's twitching in amusement. "Hungry much?" Padding over to the fresh kill pile, she studied it silently, before selecting herself a mouse. "I would ask if you wanted to share, but you seem pretty hungry." She snorted, "No doubt you could eat this mouse and then some." More laughter. The she-cat's cheerful mood seemed to manifest itself into teasing.

Leafstar felt a small bit of warmth on her face, pulling her gaze back to Redstrike... who was staring right at her. His expression was soft, just for a moment, that little light burning in his eyes and sending small shivers through her stomach and down her spine. But then, their eyes met for just a second, and all of the light melted away to a cold glare before he finally just looked away. The message was clear: you are unforgivable. It made Leafstar just want to crawl back to her den, curl up in a ball, and just... cry. Her eyes and nose stung with unmistakable tears hiding behind them, being held back by the small bit of Leafstar that knew cats already asked too many questions for her to actually cry four moons after the incident.

Hunting, she thought, standing up quickly and leaping off the branch of the tree she was on. Hunting was her go-to thing for anything; it leveled her mind, made her focus. Leafstar made her way to the entrance, smoothing out her features and walking with purpose. She found that cats would never go to her directly about what happened; there weren't even cats who thought they could comfort her when they really couldn't, really. No, she just caught their curious glances and noticed when conversations went quiet as she passed them. The thoughts made her paws shake as she finally exited. If she could just escape, just for a little while, then she'd be able to fix herself for the moment.

However, she wasn't even four foxlengths outside of camp when she stopped dead. "So your name is Rosepaw? That is very beautiful indeed." The voice was completely foreign, and so was, obviously, the cat, since everyone in the clan knew Rosepaw. She was medicine cat apprentice, for StarClan's sake. No! Leafstar thought, devastated. I can't deal with this right now. But she had to. Clan before anything, she reminded herself bitterly, and it especially applied in this case. So she took a deep breath, erased her features once more, and pushed through the brush only to pull up short in front of Tigerstep, a stranger, and Rosepaw. The scent of another cat was wreathed around them, and Leafstar thought she saw a flicker of eyes in the shadows, but she just directed her attention to the ones before her.
"What is this, Tigerstep?" she asked, but instead of her voice being leader-like and demanding, it just sounded dull and exhausted. How threatening was she? Leafstar thought sarcastically. Get a hold of yourself, Leafstar.

Frostfire watched her apprentice with pride and approval as he actually got the answer right, and he even did a little demonstration. However, his paws scuffed noisily in the grass, and if that wouldn't chase prey away, the amount of wiggling he was doing would rustle his cover and send the prey flying, past the reach of his claws. She couldn't help but laugh as he shot a glare at the rock. "Your answer was correct, but there were several things you did wrong; first, you don't just 'stalk the forest,' but you have to use your tracking skills and very carefully come up on your prey. With the amount of noise you made, I'm surprised the rock didn't grow legs and start running for its life. We'll do a lesson on tracking today to start off; if we could train with another apprentice, it could be fun! Oh, and don't wiggle. That's still your biggest weakness, other than your noisy paws. Wiggling was a problem of mine when I was an apprentice; it causes extra noise that will also scare your prey away. Once I learned not to wiggle, I almost never missed a catch." Frostfire took a deep breath. She'd said a lot; hopefully Foxpaw actually paid attention to her. A lot of what she had said she'd said in a blunt, almost mean sort of way, but Foxpaw should know by then that that was just the way Frostfire worked.

Then, she started scoping for a mentor and apprentice pair that would aid them well in a lesson on tracking. Someone who would challenge Foxpaw... but who? This was an unnaturally good group of apprentices, with no real forerunners. Of course, Foxpaw, Fernpaw, and Lionpaw probably got the highest expectations, but that was only because they were Leafstar's offspring. Anyone could pose at least a bit of a challenge to Foxpaw, so she turned to him, flicking her ears.
"Who would you like to train with?"

Lionpaw took a bite out of the mouse, chewing slowly as he thought about Oddpaw's question. He already knew the answer; it obviously wasn't the first time he'd been asked that question. Everyone seemed to think that it'd be special or cool, but she was just mom to him; how could he really make them understand that to him, it's really not that different? "It's like having anyone else for a mom, I guess, not that I'd really know what that's like. It's harder because she can't say things normal moms say, though," he meowed thoughtfully. "Normal moms tell their kits that they'll be the best warriors, but mine can't do that or it would look like she likes us more than everyone else. Of course, she does," he added, completely confident about that. How could his mom not love them better than everyone else? Those were the sort of cocky thoughts that made some cats dislike Lionpaw; he tended to say things that made him seem self-centered, which was easy to be when you were the leader's son, even if she didn't do much to inflate his ego. She didn't need to; other cats did it for her, always expecting Lionpaw to be one of the best at things... and since he pretty much was (or so he liked to think,) it was a sort of cause and effect thing.

Lionpaw flicked his tail as he took another bite out of the mouse, a grin flashing across his face. "It would probably beat having Tigerstep for a father, though. Can you imagine if he was allowed to have kits?" Lionpaw thought of the snappy medicine cat; he'd once gotten a thorn in the pad of his right front paw, and instead of Tigerstep just removing the thorn and fixing his pad, Lionpaw got yelled at for being stupid and not watching where he was going while out in the forest. Lionpaw disagreed with that, of course; he was perfectly smart, and he had been watching where he was going. Lionpaw had retorted that maybe the thorn should watch whose paw it stabbed, but Tigerstep had only looked at him like he wanted to skin him. Some cats would argue that having Redstrike for a father would be much the same; Redstrike never complimented him, really, but at least he wasn't really as snappy as Tigerstep. Lionpaw knew that his father loved him more than he really let on because that was just how Redstrike was. He was more the quiet, brooding type to Lionpaw. Tigerstep just seemed to really genuinely hate most cats. That or he just really genuinely hates being nice, he thought.

Muffled voices and paw-steps seeped in through the entrance of the den, bringing the black she-cat to a stir. Stupid mouse-brains, don’t they realize I’m trying to sleep? Jinxshade wasn’t the kindest of cats, nor did she like when people woke her up. With a loud, exaggerated yawn she rose to her paws and began her routine morning stretches. The sun was rather bright as she exited the den, causing her to hiss in annoyance. Stupid sun. She bent her head away from the light, shielding her eyes from the powerful ray. Personally the she-cat preferred a dark enclosed space- giving her lots of space to be alone. Companions certainly weren’t her forte.

Her eyes scoped out the camp, catching sight of a few cats mingling here and there. Her stomach let out a low, painful grumble alerting her of the hunger she possessed. Plotting out the best way to get to the fresh-kill pile without interruptions from other cats, she ducked her head and moved into a fast paced shuffle. Jinxshade weaved around the groups of cats, and finally reached her destination. Picking a plump looking piece of prey from the pile, she made her way over to the quiet side of camp to feast. Choosing her preferred spot in a patch of shade, the she-cat ate in silence, focusing only on the food in front of her.

The tom nodded sharply, turning to pad away. His tail waved as a gesture for Rosepaw and Bounce to follow, though he walked at a rather fast pace. Perhaps he did not want either she-cats to see the pain that flashed across his face. Moons ago, this would have been perfect! Moons ago, he would have given up his post as a medicine cat apprentice just to be with Bounce in StoneClan. But now...? Times have changed. Tigerstep sighed heavily. He was a full medicine cat now, bound to the code more than any other cat (except Leafstar, of course). When Thistleleaf had died, thus making him the chief medicine cat, Tigerstep stepped forward with nothing but determination and a solid will. He had given up Bounce for it. He had broken her heart, hoping that it would be enough to chase her away, for he couldn't bear to see her again. But now, she had returned with the intentions of joining the Clan. And with kits too! His kits! 'StarClan, guide me,' he thought to himself. He could hear Bounce quietly talking to Rosepaw, attempting to open a conversation, but ignored their voices. He had more important things to worry about - what was he going to tell Leafstar?

Ah, well, that wouldn't have to be necessary. Tigerstep paused as he heard the soft approach of pawsteps and the familiar scent of Leafstar drifting with the light breeze that ruffled his short pelt. Tigerstep watched as the silhouette of Leafstar came into view, ears flicking as he registered her question. He studied the leader. Her tone was interesting, indeed. He had expected Leafstar speak with a commanding, authoritative tone. Not like a tired, seasoned elder. His amber eyes bore into her green ones, as if seeking for the root of her sadness. Had he caught her in a difficult time? Perhaps she was mulling over her relationship, or lack thereof, with Redstrike. Tigerstep remembered the pair when he was an apprentice. They were an interesting couple, for sure, and the Clan had wholeheartedly supported them. But they began to drift further and further apart until the bond of love was no longer visible. Eventually, whatever they had shared was gone. Even Tigerstep knew.

"She has voiced her interest in joining our Clan," Tigerstep replied, completely aware of the fact that Leafstar had the right to scoff and send Bounce away. "Her name is Bounce." He didn't bother to look over his shoulder at Rosepaw and Bounce and instead kept his gaze steady on Leafstar, eyes steely and willful. Perhaps the tom could only hope that Leafstar would notice her pregnancy and at least allow her to stay in the Clan until she had kitted. His heart lurched, anxious to hear Leafstar's reply.

You can burn my bridges down
Her pathetic attempt at a conversation has been cut short as another cat seemed to join them. She was rigid, at first, but quickly let her guard down. It was only a she-cat, and a very elegant one at that. Perhaps a bit older, Bounce thought, and somewhat distracted. Hardly a threat. She noticed, however, that the other two with her had snapped into shape. Therefore she kept her composure, thinking it was safe to assume this she-cat was an authority figure.

Bounce could not help but notice Leafstar's fur. She had not realized the fear until that moment, but her own fur felt so out of place with Tigerstep's and Rosepaw's. She was glad she would not be the only one with multicolored patches wherever she was going. Bounce then delicately weaved her way around to Tigerstep's side and gracefully dipped her head to the older cat. "I mean no harm." She felt it was ridiculous to say, considering she was the second smallest cat there with only Rosepaw closely behind. "I only wish to find a safe place for ou- ... My kits." She corrected herself smoothly, confident no one would have guessed the meaning of her mistake. However, she could have been wrong. She did not know how intuitive this cat was.

Nightfrost rose to her paws, satisfied that Redstrike saw it her way. Apprentices needed to learn, not be showered in compliments for the duration of their warrior training. A tough apprentice would be able to take any amount of criticism. Just as Nightfrost was about to turn and leave, something brushed against her side. She could tell by the scent that it was her apprentice, and upon turning her head slightly to the right, it was confirmed. Nightfrost shied away, letting out a low his of annoyance at her apprentice. When had Nightfrost ever been the affectionate type of mentor? The black she-cat glanced at the two senior warriors before, hoping they hadn't seen. The look on Redstrike's face said otherwise. He flicked his tail, obviously dismissing the two of them to get about their business.

Nightfrost turned without another word, heading towards the fresh-kill pile to pick up the squirrel she had set aside for herself earlier. The black she-cat stopped, a look of bemusement crossing her face as she realized it was no longer there. Glancing around, she noticed an apprentice, Fernpaw, was now taking her squirrel over to her mentor, Crookedtail. Nightfrost narrowed her eyes coldly, but said nothing. She suddenly was no longer in the mood for fresh-kill.

Well, since Blackpaw is here now, I suppose we could do some training. "Hmmm… How about some battle training, Blackpaw?" She asked, trying her best to look neutral. Despite her apprentice's show of affection that morning, Nightfrost thought Blackpaw was one of better apprentice's in the clan. She didn't annoy Nightfrost too often, and she didn't whine like a baby when Nightfrost criticized her. The black she-cat was only harsh on her apprentice because she wanted her to be the best, and she honestly thought Blackpaw was well on her way. The young she-cat had great agility and climbing abilities, which had impressed Nightfrost. Now Nightfrost started heading towards the camp entrance, waving her tail for her apprentice to follow.

Rosepaw rose to her paws, following Tigerstep and Bounce back to camp. Something was tugging at Rosepaw's fur, but she couldn't quite figure out what it was. Something seemed… Weird about these two. There was definitely some tension, and being tension between those two created awkward tension for Rosepaw as well. Did these two know each other? Did they get into a fight? Rosepaw was brought back from her thoughts by Tigerstep's low voice, telling her and Bounce to follow. Rosepaw was thrilled that the mother cat would be allowed to come back to camp with them, even if it wasn't 100% that she would be able to reside there. Tigerstep may be harsh at times, but he had a big heart, and not even he would deny a mother and her kits safety. Ultimately, the decision was up to Leafstar, and Rosepaw hoped that Tigerstep would plead for Bounce. Rosepaw's attention was brought to Bounce as she tried to make conversation, but Rosepaw's reply was cut short by another voice. Leafstar's voice. She hadn't realized that they had nearly made it to camp. "What is this, Tigerstep?" Leafstar said. Her voice sounded off, not authoritative as usual. Just plain, as if she didn't want to deal with this now. Tigerstep didn't look at the two she-cats behind him as he spoke, "She has voiced her interest in joining our Clan. Her name is Bounce." Rosepaw waited, suspenseful at what the leader would say. She wanted to say that Bounce was expecting as well, but Rosepaw didn't feel as if it were her place to talk.

Instead she sat on her haunches, waiting silently. She hoped Leafstar and Tigerstep wouldn't shoo her away, because she wanted to know if Bounce would be allowed to stay with them. Rosepaw was hopeful as Bounce told Leafstar that she meant no harm, and was expecting. Still, how would Leafstar respond?

Oddpaw took another bite of mouse, and chewed slowly, listening to his den mate explain what having a Clan leader as a mother felt like. It was probably something he was asked often, and Oddpaw realized too late that Lionpaw might be tired of the question. His eyes narrowed with interest as Lionpaw explained that it was just like any other mother-kit relationship. She loved him. He loved her. End of story. The only major difference was that Leafstar wasn't allowed to show excessive love to her kits, or it could come off as favoritism. That had to suck. Oddpaw knew Leafstar loved her kits the most, what mother didn't? The clan should suck it up and deal with that.

When Lionpaw finished, Oddpaw nodded slowly. "Ah, I see…" He rose to his paws then, his belly full. He nudged the rest of the mouse towards Lionpaw, wanting the younger apprentice to finish it. Oddpaw stretched luxuriously, and gave out a mreow of amusement at Lionpaw's remark on Tigerstep. "Yeah, that would suck. Tigerstep can definitely be a pain in the butt sometimes. He's better off being the medicine cat, that's for sure." As if on cue, Tigerstep walked through the camp entrance with Rosepaw. "Speak of the devil…" Oddpaw trailed off, noticing a strange she-cat with Tigerstep. He gave a head nod in that direction. "Hey, Lionpaw, check it out." The she-cat looked very round. Maybe expecting? Her fur was similar to Leafstar's in color, and it looked like she wouldn't be able to hurt a fly. Still, his pelt bristled. Why would Tigerstep bring this foreigner here?

The future lies before you;
like a field of fallen snow.
Be careful how you tread it;
for every step will show.

They'll judge you by your past;
Which makes it do or die.
Unless of course my darling;
You spread your wings and flii.
