Why do you want this animal?&What will you do for this animal?:
First of all, this is an extremely amazing and unique species. I've always liked unusual animals, probably because they are so far from the normal dog, cat, horse, etc. The individuality of this character is something I can't even begin to express; she is just absolutely stunning. I for one, would never have been able to have thought of such an amazing breed of canine. I also love hybrid animals, because it's incredible work that people go to to imagine the characteristics of a new species.
Second, I want this character because of its beautiful design. Every time I look at it I absolutely want to have it. There are the soft yellow and blue colors on it, then the dark solid black parts that are very complimentary. The person who made this design definitely knew what made something look good. If this were turned into a real fish I would think it were created by nature, its colors are so beautiful and blending. I also love the accents and accessories, which are all things oceanic. The character definitely has a theme going on. Just the right touch of barnacles and starfish on its chest and the large seashell necklace. Plus, its abnormalities, which are the fins and anglerfish baiter thingy.
I just absolutely love this character, I would make so much art of it (when I have time)! :3 Also, there are many artists out there in the pets for art forums, and I think I'd like to see how they would draw Bliss for me. She also seems like a pretty awesome character to take part in an RP, which I'll try to do.

Personality:
Bliss is a peaceful, tranquil creature. She is normally the quiet one sitting in the corner sipping root beer at parties. However, she's not the one to not have friends. Bliss just isn't the kind to squeal and scream when she's with her buddies. She hardly gets into fights, partially because she doesn't talk much to people she doesn't know well and also because she knows that violence gets you no where.
Bliss is also the kind who knows what will set people off, but she is so sensitive that she tries to stay far away from that line.
When she gets angry, she isn't truly angry. It's hard for her to keep grudges, because she always tries to see the better side of them. Especially because she herself is so "freaky", she knows that being nice to others is better than taunting them. If she is annoyed, she knows enough manners to not tell them to shut up.
Her pet peeve is someone who is mean to others. She will normally stand up to them defiantly, and this is one of the only times that she gets "angry".

Dislikes&Likes:
She likes bathing and swimming, and will excitedly reply to any invitation to the river, beach or pool. She only ignores such invitations when she is deeply and utterly depressed, which is not often. She is sort of the athletic type and can beat almost anyone at a lap race around the pool. However, Bliss feels less comfortable on land and enjoys the water and its inhabitants better than others.
Bliss enjoys varieties of foods, most of them seafood but she can tolerate small land mammals as well.
If Bliss were to become my character I would say her best friend would be my fursona, Marina as they are both semi-aquatic mammals.
She also likes people who are kind to her, long conversations about life, and floating in the sea. One day she wishes to go to the Dead Sea and see what it's like to feel completely weightless in the water. Feeling mud between her webbed toes and gazing underwater at life passing by are the little things in life she enjoys.
She dislikes those who are mean to others, and also she doesn't like manmade food while the rest of my characters love it.
The only one of my characters she wouldn't like is Bon Bonjour, who is a cat and doesn't like getting wet or getting her paintings wet. They have many calm disputes about how water is harmless/frightening.

History/Background:
Waves crashed lightly onto the shore, darkening the damp sand and shuddering back to the sea, only to have another wave advance onto the beach as swiftly as the water had receded. The sun rose steadily above the horizon, miles away, and Bliss averted her eyes so the increasing brightness did not blind her. Early birds flew over the water, skimming for fish and calling to each other in their strange language.
Bliss tiptoed in the line of fire of the waves and shivered happily as the salty seawater washed over her sandy webbed paws. The white spots on her black legs brightened with glee as her brain noticed they were where they belonged: the ocean.
The finned canine breathed in the air and dozens of smells rushed into her mouth. The beach was one of her favorite places to be. She had been born by the ocean and always loved coming back, no matter which shore she was visiting. Bliss remembered her mother crooning her and her littermates with an ancient sea rhyme about the different animals in the sea. Then she got it stuck in her head, and she turned around humming it. Bliss came face-to-face with her friend, Marina.
Bliss yelped, not angrily but in surprise. She immediately grinned at the sea otter-cat hybrid. "Hello, Marina," she said calmly after her heart had stopped beating so quickly.
"Hiya, Bliss," Marina said. "Ready for breakfast?"
Bliss nodded, and as if their brains were connected, they leaped and dove into the sea at the same time.

Under the water, Bliss could see clearly as the antenna on my forehead glowed warmly. Her spots also dazzled, clashing with the morning rays of sunlight breaking through the surface of the water. Bliss urged Marina to swim deeper, whose black raven wings had disappeared underwater. They both had well streamlined bodies and webbed paws to keep up with each other.
Bliss knew how cats could catch fish with their paws. Well, she and Marina were likewise, but they could do it at a whole new level. They swam between the schools of fish which parted gracefully.
Marina swam deeper and touched the bottom of the ocean. Sifting through the sand she found a small purple urchin and a rock. Marina touched off of the bottom and swam back up to Bliss.
Bliss remembered Marina was going to teach her how she got food. She took a slightly longer time but decided that a large stone and a clam would work fine. Marina was wiggling back up to the surface. Bliss followed, and soon both their heads had broken the surface of the water.
Marina said happily, "Okay, so this is how you would do it. Take the food.." She placed it on her belly while floating on her back. "And smash it with the rock." It took the sea otter-cat a couple tries but not much longer. The urchin finally cracked and thirty seconds later Marina was chewing sea urchin flesh and telling Bliss, "You can try now."
Bliss thought it looked pretty hard. She had been doggy paddling to stay above water, but she twisted with her belly facing up so she could place the clam there. Clumsily it fell off a couple times but Bliss retrieved it. Marina grinned encouragingly at her.
Bliss took the stone between her two paws. It almost slipped but she gathered a firm hold on it. She bashed the rock down on the clam. After ten or so tries, Bliss finally got the clam to open.
Marina clapped her hind flippers and laughed. "Cool!" she exclaimed. "Just eat up and we can go back. If you wanna float longer I suggest you try grooming more."
Bliss nodded, munching the clam meat happily. After she finished, licking her paws, the two semi-aquatic animals made it back to shore.

The tip of her antenna(?) can glow, and the white spots on her body glow when they come in contact with water. The starfish and barnacles on her left leg are still partially alive and can move slightly when underwater. Technically they are not actually part of her but she considers them as just that.

Why do you want this animal and what will you do for it?:
I have no "scene" characters; though I have always want one. For various reaons, however, I have not connected with any that I have found up for adoption. Raphael is somehow different from the others. I've fallen in love with this gorgeous little guy, and have found that I really click with him. For the past week he has been a headmate to me, and I wish for him to become a permanent one, as we have had some quite interesting dialoges. Raphael would have a special place among my characters due to the fact that I have no others like him, and would become a frequent subject of my drawings and short stories. Once I am able to publish it, he would gain a spot in my network of characters sites; where all art and stories pertaining to him would be displayed.

Personality:
To become the Guardian of the Lost was not at all Phael's wish, but rather was forced upon him. He chooses to take it with stride however, complaining only to himself. Extremely introverted; Phael is quiet and self-absorbed. Due to the fact that he dwells not with the other gods, but rather in the foggy lands of those awaiting judgement, Raphael does not fit in with the other gods, and is therefore seen as an oddity. He is, in general, calm and collected, careful about not exposing his emotions and refusing to act on them. Phael's rational mindset helps him to excell at what he does, as does his silent, yet strong presence. It would be quite impossible to be near Raphael and unaware of the sheer amount of control that he has over everyone and everything. Though chivalrous and polite; few females find him at all attractive because of his undesired position and quietness.

Likes:
Ash: This little fox is the only permanent companion that Phael has in his realm, and therefore shares a somewhat tentative friendship with her.

Calm: Unlike the other gods, Phael thrives in quiet peace, and loves nothing more than to be blissfully alone in his foggy realm. The only exception to this is Ash; as she, like him, is a quiet creature.

Helping: Phael is, after all, the Guardian of the Lost. His sole purpose is to give darkened souls the chance to redeem themselves before facing judgement.

Fog: When Raphael obtained his relam, his only demand was that it be filled with thick fog. He loves the enigmatic effect that it casts over everything as well as its color.

Grey: Phael has a small obsession with the color grey. This is, mostly, beacuse of the fact that only grey things can stay in his realm. Those of white are sent to the afterlife, and those of black to the underworld.


Dislikes:
Stubbornness: Phael strongly dislikes those who dismiss his efforts to help them because of thier own pride, and, inreturn, is more than happy to ship them off to judgement to be placed in the underworld.

Light: This jackal has sensitive eyes; and therefore tries his best to avoid bright and gaudy things. This of course, contributes to his hate of visitations to the palaces of the other gods, as their glamour causes him sharp physical pain.

Crowds: Raphael hates to be in large groups; and can generally only tolerate being around up to two other creatures at a time. This was one of the main reasons that the other gods assigned him to the position of Guardian of the Lost, instead of one where he could be around the other gods.

Physical Strain: Though not lazy, Raphael hates physical activity. He doesn't mind running for short periods of time, but when it coming to thigns that call for strength, he has a tendency to conveniently dissapear.

Uncleanliness: Phael takes pride in his physical appearance; and spends much of his free time grooming himself. He, therefore, finds dirty creatures revolting, even though he doesn't let his opinions show.



History/Background:

Because everyone needs a guardian....

Rahael was born to a normal female jackal in the middle of a normal desert filled with normal creatures and foliage. The rainfall was normal and the sunlight was normal. The air that he breathed was normal and the food that he ate was normal. Everything was normal, except for him.

He was the product of an unorthodox affair between his mother and a god, an oddity in the mortal world, both mentally and physically. After is mother's unfortunate death, the gods were quick to claim him as their own. After all, they are always in need of more Divines to fill the unwanted guardian positions.

After all; wouldn't one rather be the Keeper of Roses than the Guardian of Flies?

Because everything needs a guardian, as does everyone.

Raphael was given the position of Guardian of the Wayward, the Lost, the Cruel. The sick individuals that all other gods refused to watch over. When it came to Raphael, he was given no option, but rather was thrown headfirst into his new position.

Now, before a man who beat his wife or a woman who drowned her son are called for judgement in the afterlife, they first meet with Phael. He is, quite literally, their last chance to confess the evils that they commited and purge their souls of darkness before moving forward. Raphael, therefore, dwells in a foggy place of no beginnings or ends, but rather wanders among the dead awaiting judgement, seeking out those with blackened souls in order to ressurect them.

Phael found great purpose in the job. As an immortal, with eternity stretching out afore him, he knew that it would not pay to complain to try to escape. So the jackal accepted his fate. Though somewhat lonely, he was not at all unhappy, and time proved that he was much better suited to his dark, foggy realm than the glamerous, bright one of the other gods.

Withing time he became aquainted with another creature of his land; a grey fox with a grey soul. A fox that was destined to walk forever in his lands because of her neurality. And as all stories go; they became good friends.
And really; how long is eternity when you have someone to share it with?

"Tell me, confess. There will be no forward for you if you do not. Only backwards."
His voice was quiet, soft, composed. He demanded nothing, but rather asked, holding out a golden opportunity. As most did, the man refused to take it.
"I'm not gonna tell you anything, puppy."
Inwardly, Raphael winced.
No, not puppy, my dear immbecile; jackal. Divine jackal.
"Fine. That does not bother me."
Cool green eyes shone out from under a fringe of dark hair; strongly meeting those of the human before him.
And, with a single blink, the man's past became known to the god.
Armed robbery, murdered and raped over twenty woman, involved in various gangs and cults.
The man staggered backwards as if struck.
"What the hell di ja just do, puppy?"
A wry simple curved across the jackal's delicate face.
"Why, I found out what you would not tell me."
When the man began to lurch angrily towards him, Phael only chuckled and looked off to one side, calling out into the fog.
"He is not worthy. Do with him what you will."
Eager to get away from the scene that would soon come with the arrival of the dark gods, the jackal trotted away into the fog.

It could have been a few seconds later or perhaps many hours later when she fell into step beside him. Unlike the other spirits, she did not simply have a white or black air to her. Rather, she was cloaked in shades of grey.
"Ash."
He turned his head to look at her, and that peculair feeling that was the opposite of lonliness flooded through him.
It was not only her soul that was grey. She had sleek grey fur and a cool grey gaze. Even her name was a symonym for grey.
And, really, he wouldn't change her greyness for the world. If her soul was white the afterlife would claim her. If black, it would be the underworld. But because she was grey; she would remain in his foggy kingdom.
"Hey, Phael."
Like him, she was a creature of few words.
In companionable silence they walked through the fog together, god and lost soul.
Wordlessly, Raphael turned away from her and dashed off, leavinging the lithe fox staring after him, smiling sadly. As good as a friend that her Divine jackal was. He was much too wrapped up in his job.
He can change.
After all, they did have eternity.
