Background;;
Stranac Dragons are strange creatures not of this world. They were found years ago by a scientist out exploring the arctic lands at the poles of the Earth when she became lost. After many days of surviving on her own she presumably became very wild in nature, like that of domestic dogs let loose into the wilderness who begin fighting to survive. It is believed that because of this new way of hers the Stranac no longer ran for cover when she managed to stumbled upon their tunnels. She stayed and studied them for several weeks before the emergency beacon she put out brought rescuers to her. When she arrived home she instantly launched the search that would bring us more information about these wonderful creatures.
Sizes;;
These mammals are not overly large. Generally they can range in size from a about the height of a German Shepard to that of a Great Dane, though smaller sizes like Poodles or Collies. When born they are the size of your average house cat.
Physical Attributes;;
*Long fur to keep warm
*Large paws equipped with claws for hunting
*Antenna to help with sensing their way through the dark tunnels (as they age the tips of the antenna may begin to glow when in lower light settings)
*Large pouch to carry young
*Long, strong tail
Appearance;;
These creatures are for the most part darkly colored with their pelts, often having lighter markings and very seldom they will have bright streaks across their fur. A Stranac with a light base light white or tan has yet to be spotted though oddly enough several albino creatures have been found. It has been noted that their eyes can come in almost any color and that the adult's antenna often glow the same color as the eyes.
Social Interactions;;
Stranac Dragons are very loving and socially depended creatures. They thrive in large groups of up to 30 SD and often dwindle into depression should they be separated for any long periods of time. There is no "government" in each group, they are all there to help each other and none are more important than another. The only big thing they go by is their fierce protection of children and females. All males will go to great lengths to protect and satisfy any female or young.
Child Rearing;;
This is a very largely a community action. Though a child may belong to one set of parents it is the priority of any member of the group to make sure they are always safe and happy.
Mating/Breeding/Parings;;
Though they are a community Stranacs' do mate for life. During the mating season a male will put on long strings with different items attached to the end that are often brightly colored to attract the attention of a female. Once she has made a choice she will stick with it for life and never take another mate, even after the death of her first one.
Well hello there fabulous friends, I’m Vexy here and I would like to welcome you
all to the second Stranac Dragon artist competition. As I am choosing to jump
start this species I figured having a few new artist to bring in some creativity
would be a great way to get started. Now with that being said when ever you
decide to join this competition I want you to realize that you are not being
hired simply to make a few designs. I want every artist to be a very active
part of this community and be more than willing and happy to help out in
any way that they can.
I don’t have many rules for this other than:
1) Please make a cover to keep all your entries under
2) Make sure all entries follow the basic guidelines of the Stranac species
3) You may only make 2 entries with any sort of line edits
4) Make as many normal entries as you would like
5) Somewhere under your cover please give me a brief explanation of why you wish to be an artist
6) Have fun (:
I will choose who I think will make a good addition to the team periodically
as this competition goes on so there is no set end date but it will not stay
open for more than two months.
