What are GFKs?
The Gentled Freshwater Kelpie is a equine based creature that used to roam the island of Ireland, mostly at it's ocean shores. This creature was said to be a myth but was proved to be nonfiction when a young lad had gotten himself a foal of his own. These 'horses' were never tamed until now and were often considered a threat to the men, women and children of Ireland.
How do they differ from horses?
These Kelpies look strikingly like horses besides a couple obvious reasons.
- They have gills on their neck, closer to their throat than their crest.
- They come in colors of the sea, rocks, ponds, streams and any horse colors and patterns.
- If the kelpie had to compared to any breed, it would have to be the anglo arabian.
- Their mane tends to grow out long and silky.
- Heights can reach from 15.2 hh to 18 hh.
- Light feathering on legs.
- These creatures are omnivores, so it's best you always remain cautious around them.
- Require nearly double the intake of water.
- Excel at all equine sports.
How did they come to be tame?
Through many generations of careful breeding of only the calmest and tamest Kelpies, they had not only lost most of their fierce nature but the need for salt water. These creatures are calmest when around freshwater and are known to have a temperament spike around salt water. Though there are a couple difficult GFKs today, they still exist.
Breeding?
The Gentled Freshwater Kelpie can only breed naturally meaning male x female. Never have there been any reports of successful cell breeding of male x male or female x female. Nearly a hundred percent of the time, their offspring count is one and in a lifetime they may only produce six offspring.
Adopting?
The adoption of these creatures will all be free to a caring home that is fit and ready to home a Kelpie. Each forum will be carefully judged by the artist of the keplie who will choose a winner when a time suits them. There is no set limit on how many kelpies you can own but you may only adopt one every five days.
Competitions?
There will be many competitions put in place in a couple different disciplines. English, Western and Racing. Each event will be judged upon number of wins, skill, and with a hint of randomness. The top three Kelpies of each discipline will be posted.
