He took the third kit and nodded, his eyes still wide with fear. He tried to keep alongside of Robintail as they tried escaping the flames that were closing in on them. The flames grew warm to hot in seconds. He tried to steer them away from the larger brambles and briars that surrounded the area, where they might catch on fire easier. As he tried to pass through on of the bushes, his leg got stuck. He frantically tried to pull it out but he couldn't.

He nodded in acknowledgement and went in the waterfall before backing back into the hole, shaking his fur and sitting back down beside Maplefrost and returning his tail around the tom. In instinct he gave a quick lick to Maplefrost's ear to give him assurance. In seconds he realised what he just did and lowered his head attempting to hide his blush even thought it was plain as day.

He was basically sprinting no matter how much it hurt. He didn't realise the Sandstripe fell behind, and left him. He caught the sent of a group of cats threw the smoke and followed it, leading him to a abandoned den. He peered his head threw, the kits still hanging from his mouth " Room for..... " he trailed off, glancing behind him and realising Sandstripe wasn't there. His ears flattened but he couldn't risk losing his life as well as his kit's. He turned his attention back to the hole and continued " Room for three more..? " he mewed, his mouth muffled as he looked at the cat before him which were Graystar, Friskypelt, Mothtail, Ravenleap, and Cherryfeather.

Hse let out a small purr and huddled closer to Ravenleap, just barely almost laying on him. She was still shivering slightly but felt comforted.

The blazing flames seemed to creep closer to him as he struggled to escape. Tears welled in his eyes and he pulled harder. The small kit in his mouth gave out a tiny wail then went into complete silence. Agony and pain filled his eyes as the flames caught onto the bushes and crossed paths with his hind leg. He held back a yowl of pain and squinted his eyes shut. He coughed and shuddered from breathing too much smoke. With the last of his remaining strength, he surged forward, his leg coming lose of the bramble's binds. She was sent tumbling forward. He recovered from the fall and limped away as fast as he could. Not knowing where Robintail went, he found himself in and empty field with nothing but dirt and dead grass. He found an abandoned badger set and limped inside, only to collapse of exhaustion and pain.

"Yah, Hurry Robintail, get in!" Graystar meowed. Ravenleap smelled Sandstripe and he then raced out, following the scent, soon leading to him. Ravenleap coughed one more, "Sandstripe?" He meowed, padding to him.

Eaglestripe kept blocking out the smoke, he coughed again. "Its not going to stop till the whole forest is burn down. No, ill stop this all, cause i will always be the hero!" He raced out, going to find a human that could help them. Dodging branches, flames, and falling trees, racing to the edge. As he got there, he collapsed, happy to breath some fresh air.

He lay in the badger set, his raspy breath escaping his lips. Pain severed through his leg as he slightly moved. His body lay around the limp body of a kit. A small ashy gray kit, mostly because of the ashed and smoke that burned through it's pelt. Sandstripe lay still except for his flank rising and falling slightly.

Ravenleap saw the kit, "did it die?" He asked in sorrow.

He shifted uncomfortably and slightly opened his glazed green eyes, "....Yes.." He whispered, his voice harsh and raspy from smoke inhalation.

- - - finally over - fades in - - - The cat groaned in pain as he looked to the 3 kits, pulling them over closer to him as he cleaned them off, occasionally coughing a bit of blood to the side. "during a time like this ... i sure have ... the best timing for this." he coughed, now trying to keep the 3 small kits away from the entrance, where the heat seemed hottest.

The cat blushed a bright red, now shivering occasionally as he gazed over to Silverbreeze. He shuffled a little for a minute or two, before moving closer tot eh white tom, rubbing his head gently against the tom's shoulder as a way to try and comfort him, though partially accidentally rubbed against his side as well.
