BUMP means Bump Up My Post. You do it so your thread doesn't get pushed to the back of the forum. :3

Well for the most part, people post it to bump their topics up to the top so people can see them. It's used often in the trade forum because people like to keep their post up on the first page so more people can see it right away and offer. If that makes any sence. So pretty much it's used just to move a topic up to the first page of topics in that section
