Number and Type of fish in tank: A couple guppies, and two cory cats. I know I should have three, but my mom keeps only buying me one.
How long has it been running?: A year in October!
Did you cycle it?: Yep
If possible what are the ammonia nitrite and nitrate levels?: I'm sorry, I can't get that right now.
What is the issue or question?: When I checked on my fish yesterday, I noticed that one of my corys seemed to have a bite mark taken out of him. It wasn't bleeding, but it still looked painful. This particular cory, Robin, used to be one of the most active fish in the tank. Now, he is just laying there refusing to move unless I almost touch him with the net. (I don't, but I have to get close) Then he just swims a couple centimeters away, and sits there. His breathing is if anything, slower than normal. He doesn't follow my other cory, Lucah, around anymore.
Any other information?: At the beginning of summer, I had another cory in with Lucah before Robin. This cory, Dakota, died in almost the same way. She was fine all day, I walked in in the evening, and she had a large bloody hole in her side. She just kinda floated around, and died the next morning. The wounds look almost the exact same on the two fish. When Dakota died, I took out any scratchy and sharp items (There was like one). I didn't think this would happen again. Also, I have been on vacation for two weeks. My fish-sitter didn't clean the tanks at all, and the algae got so bad that you couldn't see into the tank. I did a really good cleaning last night. Also, I moved Robin into a breeder net in my tank to keep the wound from getting any worse. This morning I put in aquarium salt and a stress coat. What else can I do for Robin, and do you think Lucah is the one killing off the smaller corys? If so, how can I stop this?
Keep watching the wound. If you have any pictures, that would be great. Has Lucah ever shown any aggressive behavior? Separating him from the others for a short period of time could help.

I can't get any pictures. Robin is laying on the wound. And not that I noticed, other than Kota. Do you mean Lucah? If it happens again, I will, however right now, I don't see a reason to separate him.

I'd put my money on the guppies, since they can be nippy. Or, check your gravel. Cories are sensitive to sharp gravel.
Dia. wrote:True to Hens - Lucah might just be big enough that they don't mess with him. You did say that the others are smaller? (Indirectly, when you asked if Lucah might be killing off the smaller ones)
I don't know how to get the guppies to stop nipping. Sorry
