The Gryphees I release randomly are completely free - if you're online and submit the right form, you can just have one, no charge.

The CC however, is in case someone wants to breed or buy a custom Gryphee. How it works is that other users (like you or Tennis) send me pets from my Wishlist, and they get points in return (the point values are in that link above). You can then use those points to buy items from me - breeding potions, custom talismans, etc.
