So... I'm trying to decide on goldfish, but some people say that you can't keep certain ones with others. What could i keep together? these are all the species i could find that would interest me so far.

What i really want

a Veiltail (preferably white)
a red and white Ryukin
a Black Moor or Panda moor

On my possibilities list i have

Tosakins
Pearlscales
Lion Heads
(unlikely) Fantails
(very unlikely) Orandas (i'm still not over my first oranda,Josh, that went blind and lived about a year after that before passing away)

Some goldfish i really would not want to keep under any circumstances besides rescue would be

Bubble eyes
Celestial
telescope eyes (orange moors or Calico moors as my petshop calls them)

--------------------

I would also like to learn about common goldfish (pua'a or pig) but what i seem to find are articles (except one) that tells me they are the same as comets.

.:TrueToHens:. wrote:Okay, thank you! That's what I was thinking, I just wanted to make sure.

Actually 3 or more is prefered, and odd numbers are great so the bullying is spread out, and also it depends on the fish... in my 29 gallon i could only keep five. there was chaos if i had any more and then when one died there was more chaos until i added another. (and then they all starved unfortunately) Have lots of plants and hide spots though because they will fight sooner por later depending on the temperment of the fish.

Hi c: I recently had to throw away the betta hammock leaf because the wire had rusted, and I decided to replace it with a leaf from the craft store. I heard that sometimes the dyes will leak into the water and you can soak it for at least a week in a separate thing to prevent that. Does anyone know how long I should soak it for and if I should add anything in the water to help make sure the dyes don't leak? Or would it just be easier to go buy another betta hammock and remove the wire in it before use?

Hi there! My name's

shorten it and call me cow.

I have two orandas and a butterfly all in one tank
What size tank do you have?
Ryukins can be bully's sometimes so you will have to watch that if you get a moor, and if you get a panda chances are you will endup with a white tele
A black moor will bronze out and I have also seen one that lost his black and turned orange

These are my guys and they all do fine together
Image
I just have to make sure the butterfly is getting to the food before the others eat it all so I hand feed her aswell

Which is the butterfly? You see I am a huge fan of black or white fish that are primarily black or white. The isue i have (and it may be my OCD or something) is that it really bugs me when I see a telescope fish with eyes that are any color but black. I'm not sure why though... i guess because i grew up with black moors and when i see other fish like them I feel like they should be black.

Yeah I'm not keen on orandas much anymore though... I loved them until little josh got stuck behind a filter and went blind. I always feared he was dead because often he would sit at the bottom of the tank. At feeding times though, my subunkin helped him fish some food and would sometimes spit food in his face so he could eat. (I have never seen a fish do that before)(and this is before i realized I was overstocked and rehomed all of them except little josh) And then after i got rid of the comets and shubunkin, he died. it was a terrible experience and unless i could get a red capped or black one, i don't think i'll go back to them in all honesty.

Oh and the tank i plan to put them is is a 55 gal bowfron that is about three ree log and loger than a foot at its fattest point. it's a weird one from england that had liter dimensions and i figured them out on a dimentions site

The butterfly is the top one
I originally wanted a red and white butterfly but this little calico was too cute
The next is a black oranda and the last is a calico oranda
Personally I loooove orandas
55 would be prefect for 3 goldies :)
Just don't get too attached to your goldies colour, especially if you get them young
Their colour will change and if they have black (other then a black oranda, moor or calico) the black will fade away it's a very unstable colour for goldfish
If you want you can have a look here at before and after photos of peoples goldfish

4th post on that page is a panda moor that's now turning orange

So today I adopted three more fish. One Koi, one Comet, and one what I was told to be an Oranda. If you notice that I don't in fact have an Oranda, please tell me her breed. All three of these guys were rescues. The Oranda is named Molly. Molly was all alone, trying her best to get in with the other fish, and she has an odd growth on her chin area. She is maybe an inch or two long right now. The Comet, Zombert, has only one eye. The Koi, thorn, had some strange object shoved into his neck, and has bloody patches all over him. I did surgery on him, and ended up breaking the thing off after around five minutes of gently pulling. We found it looked like a ultra small crayfish leg. We don't know what it is. Molly is going to have to be an inside fish, while the others go out. She is enjoying the company of the guppies as Skely, Thorn, and Zombert hang out. Zombert and Nanny (my pleco) oddly hate each other. Nanny couldn't care less about the others, but as soon as Zombert gets into her vision, she goes out and starts to pick on him. Anyway, here are pictures! By the way, the color on Thorn is blood, not coloring.

Wait... you have guppies in with goldfish ? That's a HUGE mistake. All of your fish will die. Goldfish have high ammonia levels while guppies do not. Also guppies need a higher temperature. They would die from the cold.
