do you get annoyed when an artist takes 100000000 years to finish a commish? jw because I'm one of those and I always feel really bad. I would rather wait until my muse is up for it than give out crappy art. Would you rather get lower quality art faster, or higher quality art late?

The way I see it, is I shouldnt have to wait a month for art. If a persons commissions are open, and they are taking my money (in what ever form) then I think I should be getting the art in an appropriate 1-2 week time frame. If something comes up where an artist just couldnt get it to me, then I should be informed. I am sorry but for me it is so frustrating. I also dont think that, it should effect the quality of art at all? Like of course I want you to do your best, and provide me with the skills you show in your examples. Doing things earlier, shouldnt effect the quality of art? Unless what you are referring to, is that you would rush the art, and I dont see why any artist would ever do this. Thats not professional. If you take a month to do art, then make sure people know that. Hope that helps?

edit; again I just want to stess the fact that why would someone take a commish if they did not feel up to it? You know, if you think something might stop you from doing it for 4 months. I think that yes artists deserve respect. But If someone pays you, or will be paying you, you are the employee and they are the employer and they deserve respect to. Making someone wait 6 months is just disrespectful. Unless of course something serious has come up.

:: no omg. i've had people get really impatient with me and honestly it made me far more flustered and scared to do it rather than encouraging me to finish the piece. i can't deal with that kind of pressure and i'm p sure that other artists don't want to deal with it either. so i let people take as much time as they need, although sometimes i do send them a message after a long time, asking about how it's going out of curiosity qvq <3
i do understand what you mean by quality being affected by time, though. it's like when you finish a piece that you're inspired for, you do so much better and you feel better about it overall. but when you're finishing something just to get the damn thing done, it's not as good to you or smthn. if anything it's lower quality in the artist's mind at least. or at least in my mind cries

when it gets passed 3 weeks then I get a little worried about the commission I asked the person to do even if I paid a lot, like. 3 weeks or more is fine but up to a year and still waiting I'm a little worried now, I commissioned someone a year ago and I still havent gotten My art yet and I paid a lot in points, also the persons commission rules state that I cant get a refund once they accept the commission and I asked them if they were still going to do it since its been a very long while and they said they had a long list, I looked at it, and they don't. They said that I well get it soon and to this day I still havent gotten it :[ I dont like bugging people on commissions because I know they have a life and have other things to do but after 3 weeks I get a little worried about not getting my art.

Not usually. As an artists myself, I understand that things come up and muse comes and goes. I have commissions from July I really need to finish up, but 1) I just got my first job in late July so that takes up a lot of time and 2) My muse is really just all over the place. I can start drawing a wolf and end up drawing tlk fanart. It just comes and goes as it pleases, and I find it really hard to draw if i have no muse, which is why my computer is full of half-finished art pieces XD I want to finish them, but I don't have the muse. I will cancel and refund a commission if I feel I cannot do it in a timely manor, but i'm really trying to finish every commission I accept.

Also, i'd like to add it that I don't get upset if an artist I commission puts up a few personal pieces while I still have yet to get my commission. Sometimes you just need to draw for yourself, which i'm actually doing right now instead of working on one of my commissions. I have limited time as I need to get to bed and i've been wanting to draw something like this for a few days, so i'll take advantage of the time I do have and quick get this out and save commissions for when I have more time to work on them and i'm not half-asleep.

Just need a bit of advice. How do you (whoever is answering) remind or bring up the topic of owed payments/refunds/art as politely and friendly-ly (XD) as possible, from an artist you look up to, and is a friend? ; v ; Without sounding like you're hounding them. I always have the fear deep inside that the person might think I'm being a bother/placing stress on them or worse, treat me less as a friend (just a paranoid feeling I guess)? I'm in desperate need of points, and there's a person who owes me refunds on some stuff.. but I don't want to seem like a bank going after an overdue loan. Q - Q

So yeah.. if anyone can give advice there, I'd really appreciate it.
