{ Welcome to The Lizard Den! Sorry about the mess around here, we've been rushed to get this place up and running! Your probably here because you heard a new species has recently come out of hiding, and your here to see if you can adopt one. Well you're at the right place! I'm here to help show you around and understand how this place works. So lets get started.

• Please do not spam the thread, steal artwork or characters, or claim any artwork that isn't yours.
• Once you've adopted, we no longer claim any hold on that adopt. You can do anything you like with it.
• If you'd like to bring an adopt back, you must surrender any claim you have on that adopt. We will put it up for adoption again, and you may request that the new adopter keep certain features of the adopt, but they are still free to do whatever they like with the adopt.
• New adopts do not always get shipped in at regular intervals, please be patient!
• Please do not ask to be a staff member unless we have specifically stating that we are looking for one, and then only ask by following the directions we give you.

{ Now lets explain just what these new creatures are. Well as you've probably noticed I am indeed one of these creatures. We are small lizard-like reptiles that are about the size of a house cat. We are quadrupeds and omnivorous. We come in a very wide range of color and there are many different varieties of our species. Eye type, tail length, and horn type are very common variations within our species. There are also some of who have fur on parts of our body, and we can grow a wide varieties of extra horns and spikes! A few of us even have wings! There are rumors that there might be even more variety, though I wouldn't really know. There are so many of us everywhere its impossible to say for sure that there aren't more different types out there, I wouldn't be surprised!

{ Heres a detailed list of examples of all currently known varieties that are available for adoption. There are some varieties that we know about, but we haven't revived any shipments of so can't provide any examples yet.

Different eye types don't affect how well we can see, but its certainly interesting to see such variety, there might even be more types out there, who knows?

I know I've met a few others who have different horn types then these, we'll have to wait and see if we get any in the next shipment!

Tail Length Varieties:

Our tails are all very flexible and if they are long enough we can even use them to pick things up! Our tails all start out thick and become thinner the farther they go, so short tails tend to stay rather stubby, while long tails can become whip-like.

This one seems a bit more shy than the others and has been staying to the back of the cage making it difficult to determine gender. It's big eyes keep watching you as you go by with almost as sadness to them.

This one keeps running around the cage making it hard to determine the gender. It seems to be ignoring you as you near as it just seems to enjoy trying to climb up the cage. It's green eyes wide and staring off into distance.

This one keeps pacing, almost glaring at you as you near making you wary to get near enough to determine gender. It's eyes are on you with every single movement but it does keep glancing to the others in their cages almost defensively. I wonder why?

You can add small extra things if you like, just don't make your form too long! Save those long forms for the special adoptions and events! You can try out for as many as you like, and if you have any questions, just ask, we are happy to assist!

As soon as you walked into the room you felt like you were being watched, apparently this lizard had been staring at you the whole time. It was just sitting there watching you, not moving, not even blinking. Actually it was starting to get kinda creepy...

{ Sometimes we can request to receive a specific adopt, but this doesn't happen very often, so you can only get a custom by winning contests or through events. You will not have to pay anything for your custom after you win one, they are completely free! We also don't have any restrictions on what you can ask for. If you win a custom you'll be contacted by the staff about it with the adoption form for them and any more information you need to know before getting one. Please don't beg us for customs!

{ We have a small shop her where you can change some of the aspects of your adopt. Currently we stock only a few items. They are all free, but you must own an adopt already to get one, and there is a cooldown time before you can buy the same thing again. Cooldown applied to the user, not the adopt. Even if you are buying an item for a different adopt you must wait for the cooldown period to expire.

{ This is where you will find any current events going on. Some events happen every year around the same time, like on certain holidays, and some happen randomly when we receive extra shipments. Events take a lot of time to set up for so please be patient while waiting for one! The next event we know will happen is the October event. Though random events are always possible. We also hold our contests here. Our contests can be a variety of things, from ways to help make our facility better, or just for fun! Most of our contests are very simple and easy to enter. Often you can win customs or special adopts from contests, so its always worth the time to enter!

{ Before we get to the end of our tour I'd like to tell you a few pieces of extra information about these adopts.

Roleplaying: Intelligence Levels
If you frequently roleplay your characters you may want to stay to the 'canon' intelligence of this species. This species has no real canon intelligence level, they can have an intelligence ranging from that of a cat or dog to that of a human, so if you are interested in roleplaying them or including their intelligence level in something, thats something you get to choose. You decide what level intelligence level you would like them to have, no level is wrong.

Receiving New Varieties:
Sometimes we will receive a shipment that has a new variety that is not shown in the current varieties section. Sometimes these come one at a time and sometimes we receive several all at the same time. If it is a major unveiling we may even create a small event around it or contests about it.
Current variations we know about that we have not received yet:

• Other horn variations (specifics unknown)
• Fur Varieties (Including but not limited to: Tail Fur, Leg Fur, and Back Fur)
• Spike Varieties (Including but not limited to: Back Spikes, Face Spikes, and Tail Spikes)
• Wing Varieties (specifics unknown)

FAQ:
Q: Part of the design on my adopt/the adopt I'm trying out for is hard to see. What is it supposed to look like?
A: If you have a hard time seeing a certain part of the design, and your trying to draw or buy a more detailed image, its really up to your own interpretation what it looks like.

Q: Are some adopts rarer then others?
A: There are certain variations of this species that we do not receive as often. If a specific variation is rarer that will be specified in the variations section. If it doesn't say anything then it is merely a common variation and we get shipments of those often.

Q: Will there ever be breeding available?
A: We will probably allow breeding at some point in the future, but right now we feel there are not enough adopts to start breeding yet.

Getting Hired As Staff:

Currently we are: Not seeking any new staff members

Staff members do not have specific jobs but can do anything that needs to be done on the thread as long as they feel it fits their skill set. We do not have any specific requirements for hiring staff. We always prefer that potential staff have experience as staff on other threads, but we are happy to hire a person who has not yet had any experience. All staff members can act as thread moderators if needed, though they do not have to and can always take it to another staff member to handle if they are more comfortable with that.

• Be part of the thread-staff of whichever thread you are requesting affiliation with, and the thread must be an adoptable thread (or part of it is for adoptables)

{ Lastly, here is our archive. We keep records of all adopts who have owners. The only information we record here is the adopt's number, owner's profile link, the adopt's image, and an unshaded image of the adopt to better see the design for those making art of them.

It is expressly forbidden to claim an adopt that is not yours, steal someone's adopt, or message owners about selling/trading/ect. parting with their adopt unless that user has specifically stated that they are interested in doing so.

If our archives start to get too big we may move them to a new thread to keep this thread clean and neat. If that happens the link to the larger archives will be found here.
