I would like to adopt!
Number: 5
Picture:
Name: Aviah (Ah-vee-ah)
Species: Beaked Urru Dragon
Age: 200, very young for an Urru Dragon.
Physical Characteristics: Aviah is a Beaked Urru Dragon, and therefore she has a hard, sharp, blue-grey beak. She does not have scales, instead having a strange, leathery, grey hide. Her head is adorned with several sharp horns, and a crown on feathers behind the horns. Two ceremonial feathers hang there too. Not only does she have the typical dragon wings, she has feathers there too. She has two powerful hind legs, and a long tail with a feathery end and another pair of ceremonial feathers. In short, she is a thing of beauty. Unlike the typical dragons, a Beaked Urru Dragon like her cannot breathe fire.
Personality: Aviah loves life, and is therefore particularly bright and bubbly, reflecting on her beautiful appearance. However, she fully expects others to be like her, and is very sensitive to bad reactions towards her for any reason, although she will argue back if she judges the reaction to be unfair. She is very submissive and will bow to almost anyone's will, and this is not always a good thing. She has knowledge far beyond the average young Urru Dragon, but she is not particularly wise. Her curiosity is great, and in her first century meant she was constantly in trouble.
Likes:Peace~ Aviah strongly opposes violence of any kind.
Plants~ Aviah is, in effect, a dragon vegetarian. She refuses to eat meat, and instead eats plants, even ones poisonous to humans.
Laughter~ While Urru dragons do not exactly laugh, Aviah loves hearing laughter.
Other Urru Dragons~ Naturally, they are Aviah's best friends. But she has not forgotten the servant person.
Dislikes: Violence~ Aviah now knows how close she was to being killed.
Meat~ The story of Urruak's hunting has spread far and wide. Aviah now hates meat, because it was partly the cause that her dragons were hunted.
People~ Aviah has learnt that People are a cruel race.
Background: Aviah hatched in a place her mother called Paradise. It had wind, caves, sun, sky, and... people. But the people did not call the place Paradise. They called it Urruak, which meant "The Village in Urru". In Urruak, they respected dragons. They would leave out great piles of meat and plants out for them. Without the people of Urruak, the dragons would starve in the harsh winters of Urru. And then one day, a particular Urru Dragon decided to create chaos between the Urruaki (villagers of Urruak) and the dragons. While the Urruaki slept, it crept into Urruak. It took all the meat, took more from the village stores and then did the unthinkable- it stole a young Urruaki.
When the Urruaki found out, they swore to destroy the dragons. If they spotted any dragon, they would kill it. And so the dragons near Urruak stayed in hiding.
But one day, Aviah, who knew virtually nothing of such dangers, strayed from the safety of the cave she was born in. She wandered down the hills, through a small forest, and then spotted something she had never seen before. It was a something that had no wings of feathers at all, except for a long, tangled patch on its head. Its skin was pale pink. It was a person.
Aviah had heard of people. "Stay away from them!" her mother had growled. "They have shiny things called knives. They are pretty, but they are sharper than any tooth and claw. Given the chance, they could kill you."
But Aviah was intrigued by these strange creatures. She stepped forwards, accidentally landing on a twig. It snapped, and the person froze. Then it tipped its head to one side, listening.
Then is sniffed, straightened, and tiptoed carefully towards Aviah.
Aviah sensed that it was a young, female person. Surely a young one would not hurt her? She cautiously stepped in front of it. It screeched, stumbled backwards, then raised the knife, trembling. It opened a paw and dropped it quivering into the soil.
"It's a baby dragon!" it whispered.
"I'm not a baby..."
"And it can talk!"
"People can talk?"
Aviah and the person stared at each other. The person suddenly opened its mouth, and let out a joyful, bubbly sound. Aviah knew what this was. It was something that people called laughter. It was a moment that Aviah never forgot. Hesitatingly, she asked,
"Do you have a name?"
The person frowned. "No. Nobody like me has a name."
"What do people call you, then?"
"Girl."
Aviah had also heard of a terrible thing that people did called slavery. "Are you a slave?"
The person shook her head. "But I am servant to a very cruel master. He's the best Dragon Hunter in Urruak, so he says. But really, he just forces us servants to try, and claim to do it himself."
Aviah knew what she should do. Lunging forwards, she grabbed the person, slung her onto her back, and took off towards the caves.
Aviah's mother was shocked. "Aviah! Why are you bringing this person here?!"
Aviah stared back defiantly. "She's a servant of a Dragon Hunter. I had to take her!"
"You could have gotten killed, young dragon!"
"She would never hurt me!"
"Yes!"
"No!"
"You have betrayed us! Outcast!"
And then Aviah was a stranger in her own home. Sadly, she flew off.
"Wait!" The person was running after her. But Aviah wasn't waiting.
------------------------
After Aviah left her caves, she travelled many, many miles, and settled into another mountain cave. Which was already settled. The Scaled Urru Dragons that lived there heard the young dragon's story, and took pity on her. She changed her way of life, living off the various plants that grew near the dragon cave, and drank from the Runningstream, froze in the hard winters of Urru, and had to be cracked by Aviah's sharp, hard beak.
So now, Aviah no longer roams the hills near Urruak, but instead flies above the mountains near the village of Urrushielde, meaning Protectors of Urru, where they respected dragons...
One day, a blackened parchment blew past Aviah. She trapped it under a great claw and read it. It was in Draconish, and this is what it said:
Urruak is out for dragon blood. We will flee.More dragons were coming to Urrushielde.
