Melody squeaked loudly when something large and wet ran up her spine, ruffling her fur the wrong way. The thing licked her again, whatever it was, but she couldn't see it. Couldn't hear it, for that matter, not that she knew what seeing or hearing was. Her eyes, along with those of her siblings, were squeeze tightly shut, and her ears were folded down.

[Meredith's Whiskers]

"What!"She tried to move but she couldn't.

[Mercurian]

Regidor laughed. "After I use my powers to transfer your fire onto my warriors and learners, there will be no need for you anymore. But for now, just keep walking-I mean, floating. Ha ha ha!"

Kendo felt hungry, and felt her way toward Jay. At least, she thought it was Jay. She wasn't sure.

[Meredith's Whiskers]

Angel smiled and looked down "Is it right to use her like that?"

[Mercurian]

"Oh, don't worry," said Regidor. "I won't hurt her at all. I'll just strip her of her power to distribute among us and then leave her in among the Twolegs, where she belongs, not out here in the wild."

[Meredith's Whiskers]

"I'm not a two leg!"Hannah yelled

"You are to us, girlie," said Regidor. "See, you have TWO legs. We have FOUR. Therefore, we call you TWOLEGS. I believe many of you call us 'quads', because we have FOUR LEGS, you see? It's all a matter of biology."

Jay scooted her three pups closer to her belly and sighed softly. She closed her eyes and fell asleep quickly, but she felt drained. She would not wake for some time.

Orion felt contented, and lay down to sleep beside his mate.
