Scarlet Hope




A tear rolls down her scarlet cheek,
The eyes closed, turned down, and sad
Her shoulders shake, a quiet sob
Why is she feeling so bad?

I walk up to her huddled form
And hug her, stroke her head
She calms, and turns, a little smile
Her eyes no longer red

I stand up slowly, she follows me
Down the empty street
We make our way down to the beach
Quiet hands and feet

Sitting, watching ships go by
Slowly sinking sun
We fall asleep on eachother's laps
The day is over, done c;
