- My gosh, how do I even put this into words?
I'm fairly bad at these sort of sections/questions. However, I'm going to try to explain as best I can. I was scrolling through the kennels here and he just really, I dunno, popped out at me. His pelt is incredibly unique and I really just love the color combination and the soft markings. When I saw him I immediately knew that I wanted him, and I immediately envisioned a very particular character for him. I've always really loved lions, and recently I've been completely obsessed with lions and obtaining lion characters. I believe that this boy is purrrfect and would be an amazing addition to my characters. I especially think that he would fit in very nicely with my neua lions.
I don't generally make forms for characters; it's actually pretty rare that I make one and come anywhere near close to finishing it. However, I really, really can't express how much I'd like to win this boy. He definitely gives me muse and nothing would make me happier than to call him mine. <3
- He would be one of my neua lions, which are a subspecies of lion that I created. They're very special to me and definitely some of my main characters. Neua lions are currently being developed and each one that I own has a special place in their pride. They also all have their own story and they're somehow important to the subspecies as a whole. He wouldn't be an exception to this. If I win him he will get oodles of stories written about him, and hopefully oodles of art as well. I may end up writing a novel about neua lions, and if I did then he would be included. Also, he will likely get a mate and have cubs once he is older. c:
---Basics---
Name:
- Erasmus (uh- RAS- muss);; Rasmus;; Ras
--meaning;; lovable
- 2 years
- Male
- Wild Feline;; Neua Lion
Physically, they're very similar to the extinct American Lion. They're very large, much larger than other lion subspecies. Males generally have very luscious manes, which can be similar to an African lion's mane or more unique. Females also have manes, but they're generally smaller and more like hair. Males generally have tails similar to most lions, but they're made of much more fur. Females often have tails more closely resembling the tail of other big cats (snow leopards, clouded leopards and leopards being the most common). Both genders can be born with bob tails, but it's fairly rare.
They're often born with natural colored pelts that get unnatural marking soon after birth. The markings are slow to reach their full intensity. Generally, their markings start to appear anywhere from a week to a month after they're born. Any sooner than a week and they're thought to be special lions. Later than five months and they're also thought to be special lions. Lions who don't develop unnatural markings are also thought to be special. As they start to reach adulthood, the unnatural markings on Neua lions fade away and they're left with a natural pelt. Once they're adults, they have to 'earn' their markings back.
The lions themselves are closely linked with the Greek gods. They receive their markings from a god, this god takes the markings away when they're adults and then gives them back once they have earned them. Each lion is given a god, much like a Catholic child is given a saint, and this god watches over them very closely. Each lion gets to choose his god, but it's said that each lion will choose the god he is destined to, and the gods already know which god they will pick. After all, if they didn't, then how would a lion get his first unnatural markings? Some special lions are even believed to be able to speak with their god. It's thought that lions that started to get their unnatural markings before one week, after five months or didn't get any at all had this happen because their god saw fit to bless them with some sort of special power.

- Erasmus has all the makings of a great lion, a leader, even.
He is extremely passionate and enthusiastic about the things he believes in and the things he enjoys. He gets really involved in things he enjoys, diving head-first into projects and not coming up from air until he's satisfied with the outcome. He will continue with projects even after most would have given up on them, and frequently Ras ends up succeeding in his seemingly hopeless projects. It's almost as though 'quitting' is not in his vocabulary. Erasmus is quite resourceful, able to act promptly and effectively, especially in difficult or new situation. He's the type of person that would rather get out and do something, not stand around and talk about doing it. He takes into consideration the efficiency of a thing or movement while involved with projects; he's all about practicality.
Rasmus has very intense convictions, that are typically also sincere, and he readily expresses them. Even though he doesn't have problems expressing his beliefs, he also readily accepts the beliefs of others. He is sensible to realize that even if he doesn't agree with your opinions that you should be able to express them and that you have as much right to them as he does to his. He's fairly tolerant of the habits and quirks of others, generally more so than others, especially when dealing with cubs. Erasmus keeps a calm, cool composure, and he is calm when approaching or handing things. It takes quite a bit of prodding to get him to loose his head, as he is definitely not one to anger quickly.
Being very intelligent, Erasmus is able to learn and understand things much more quickly than most others. He is able to apply ideas that he has learned in a way that gets things done. He is quite witty, and his jokes are, more often than not, quite clever, both in their content and the manner in which he delivers them. Ras is an oddity, and as such he fascinates many lions. He can be incredibly alluring to others, and often gives off a unique charm that is unintentional. Often times, his charms cause devotion to him, even if the other is aware that they should not be so in awe of him. Rasmus seems mostly unaware of his charm, however.
Frequently, he can be found in the midst of laughter. Erasmus is incredibly amusing, even when he's not trying to be. Sometimes it's almost as though he opens his mouth and anything that pours out makes others laugh. He is also very adventurous. Ras is always willing to go exploring, especially with the cubs, and he loves discovering new things. Erasmus loves anything that's new and exciting, so he's more than willing to take risks or try new methods of doing things.
Ras is incredibly affable. He's very friendly towards others, and he's generally extremely good-natured. If you need someone to talk to, he's got your back there, too, as he loves to listen to others' problems and give advice. He also loves to help do pretty much anything. Erasmus has absolutely no problem helping with simple tasks that need to be done, watching cubs when the lionesses can't do it or essentially anything else the others need help with. He is also quite gentle by nature, as he is sympathetic and tender. Rasmus is extra gentle around cubs, and his paternal instinct makes him much less reckless around them. He puts the needs and well-being of others ahead of him, especially cubs. Over all, his desire to protect the cubs out weighs his goofy, reckless qualities.
However, Erasmus also has some qualities that are a bit undesirable to most.
While his antics are often amusing, he is quite immature, preferring the company of cubs to those closer to his age. Ras loves to make jokes, goof around and pull pranks, which can sometimes get him into trouble. He's crossed many lions due to his goofy pranks, and has been ruffed up a time or two because of it, but he still maintains his jovial love of goofing off. Erasmus is a favorite among the cubs, and he can often be found playing with the cubs rather than talking with lions his own age. He finds cubs are generally more silly and willing to appreciate his pranks, so he enjoys spending time with them.
Rasmus has a tendency to forget things, even things that should make a point not to forget. He's typically quite busy and this leads to to his forgetting things. He's inattentive by nature and can sometimes have quite a bit of trouble trying to focus. Though this isn't as bad as it could be, his mentors are certainly not happy about this. He also has a habit of being reckless. Time after time, Erasmus will jump head first into situations without really caring about the consequences of his actions. He also has little to no impulse control. Another thing that isn't exactly desirable about Erasmus is his inclination to get nervous. He gets very anxious at times, often around large numbers of people. He gets somewhat jittery and uneasy when he's the center of attention, especially if he has to speak at an event of some sort.
◘ sleeping habits
- While 'sleeping habits' might not seem all that quirky, trust me when I say Erasmus' sleeping habits are very quirky. First of all, he can sleep in any position what-so-ever. Literally, any position. He's fallen asleep with his butt straight up in the air plenty of times, and he's even fallen asleep standing up a few times. Another oddity involving his sleeping habits/patterns is his preference to sleep in trees and/or by running water. Ras is okay without sleeping next to running water as long as he can sleep in a tree. However, if there is not a tree, he has to sleep next to running water. He's also okay without sleeping in a tree as long as he can sleep near running water. His preference is definitely to sleep in a tree by running water, though, and there are a few spots he frequents.
- He loves rubbing his face on it. He loves looking at it. He loves smelling it. He loves grass. Something about grass just really makes him happy. Erasmus greatly enjoys laying down in tall grass, and he enjoys being hidden in the grass when standing up, as well. He can frequently be seen rolling around in grass, especially if it's nice and dewy. Speaking of dew, one of Erasmus' favorite things ever is to lick the dew off of grass. Many lions think he's incredibly odd, and that his grass obsession is even stranger, but he doesn't much care what they think of him.
- To him, story-telling is an art, an art that needn't be abused. He carries a bit of disdain for those who make up bad stories or who make up stories for personal gain. He believes that stories should always carry a bit of truth, morale, legend or prophecy in them. Otherwise, Erasmus will not consider them a story (though he has been known to make a few exceptions, such as a story made by a cub, etc). He enjoys both listening to and telling stories. One of his favorite past times is telling stories to the cubs, and listening to stories that they've made up. Ras loves seeing the way their faces light up when he speaks about tales of gods or heroes; no other look comes close to the pure joy written on the faces of the cubs. He also loves to hear the tales that the cubs come up with, as they're often quite creative and amusing, and they enjoy telling them as much as he enjoys listening. Erasmus believes that story-telling is a great way to bond, share experiences, learn new things and just have a bit of fun.
- Rasmus has an extreme blood phobia. His hematophobia is currently so bad that he frequently passes out at the sight or smell of blood. This causes a few issues in the everyday life of a lion, as one might imagine. For one, generally the kills brought back from hunting parties are pretty bloody, so is eating the catch. Because of this, he frequently eats smaller prey that can be swallowed in fewer bites. However, for some reason, he's a bit less queasy at the sight of a dead gazelle's blood than he is at the sight of other blood. Erasmus also eats a lot of berries and fruits. Second, he's training to be a warrior. This could cause problems for obvious reasons; if he's a warrior then he would be required to kill other lions during battle, which generally means a good deal of blood. Currently, his mentors are trying to tame his hematophobia, but it's not going quite as planned.
- The place where neua lions dwell happens to have a few fields of coffee beans growing naturally. There is one a good ways into another pride's territory, but Erasmus has become infatuated with these strange little beans. He was introduced to them by a small little cub only a few months ago, and he hasn't stopped craving them since. Ras generally tries not to wander into the territory of neighboring prides. However, he makes an exception for these wonderful little magic beans. Whenever he goes to get coffee beans he drags a basket of some sort with him to take as many back with him as possibly. This is partially due to the fact that he prefers not being in the territory of others' for too long and partially due to the fact that he likes to have an insane amount of them with him. Erasmus can very frequently be found with coffee beans in his mouth or den.
