Have you read the front page? All of it!

Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June? Uhm.. you bet!

Will you train this mustang? Definitely.

What are some of your training plans? I really like the fact of being about to train and own my own horse, and I would definitely seize this opportunity. I plan to make tack, accessories, and do lots of art. I find something like this is an absolutely -awesome- idea, and can't wait to start. I plan to write a progress report explaining what I will be/am doing with my horse, and how I develop trust and a bond with my mustang. Thanks for the opportunity!

Have you read the front page?: Yes, and checked it several times to make sure I've got everything right (extra pressure being an artist)! XD
Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: Yup, already booked my flights to the US. Also got my horsebox ready and I'll be bringing Flame and Freya over to give me a hand! ;)
Will you train this mustang?: Of course I will! It was so rewarding training Flame last time! <3
What are some of your training plans?:

To me, this is not just the opportunity to train and give a horse the chance to be part of a loving domestic herd, but it is also the chance for me to improve my knowledge on equine behaviour. Though my career with GenEqus has taken me down the path of equine genetics, I still have a keen interest in equine behaviour and their interactions with their herds. When I arrive in the US and collect my Mustang on the 22nd of June, I will first take it to a small ranch I have booked a stay with in Utah itself, near Salt Lake City. They have given me permission to use one of their holding pens for my observations, which I am eternally grateful for. I will also be taking along my previous Mustang Makeover colt, Flame, and one of my mares, Freya, to help settle the horse if necessary. On 5th July, we are due to fly back to the UK and I will continue observations back at Woodland Trax Stables. Hopefully the 'bonds' formed with Flame and Freya will help the new horse grow accustomed to its environment. It is back at home that I will be monitoring the horse's progress more carefully.

Once I have made my observations and has successfully assessed the equine's behavioural traits, I shall begin the training regime. Though used to me going in to sort out feed and water and muck out the pen, I am aware that my observations will have meant that the horse and I will have had minimal contact and he/she may not let me approach. Regardless of whether this is the case or not, I shall be using the join-up method of training, using the language of the horse to communicate the fact that I don't present a threat to him/her known. This may take days or weeks before we form a bond, but once we are there I will begin halter training, placing saddles and bitless bridles on the horse (but not riding, just to get the horse used to the feel of tack) and longeing. This process may, again, take weeks, but once the horse is responding to the commands given and the any untidiness in his/her gaits are worked out, I will begin to introduce a bridle with a simple snaffle bit and continue working on longeing with this new bridle. Hopefully this process won't take as long and gradually we can work towards longeing with Cavalletti and, eventually, getting him/her used to the feeling of a rider.

This, of course, may not all be completed in time if either I slip up or the horse doesn't gel so well with me, but I will try my best to work with my Mustang as much as possible! <3

Have you read the front page?: yes and i love this idea <333
Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: absolutely <3 I can't think of leaving behind a horse. they are so cute and funny
Will you train this mustang?: absolutely. I love horses, i also admire mustangs <33333333333 Plus there is a lot to learn from a horse.
What are some of your training plans?: I'm going to do it slow and gentle and let them learn to trust you. that way, your horse will feel secure and not in danger of being hurt. Once my horse trusts me i will start to teach them basic riding skills, by putting trust in me they will feel safer to be ridden. then i may go on to jumping or barrel racing once i see what my horse's talent is, i will make sure not to put pressure on my horse but to make everything fun whenever i can. Making the horse be my friend and not a stranger to me.

Also i think it is an opportunity to learn great responsibility over a horse and get my butt moving to try to win these cuties.
Though only virtual, i have to try hard to get a horse in general. I must make art and stories stuff like what you said. which really pushes me to try hard <3 pushes me to see how the horse needs me and makes me feel like i'm doing something to help.

Then there is the joy involved when your horse finally does trust you, loves you and is ridable enough for you to really enjoy having them. Then there is always the unique beauty of every horse that always differs whichever one you get. which ever one i get i know has some unique beauty because i have never seen an ugly mustang nor am i ever. Plus, your helping a horse find joy, be with other horses and learn from the owner. the owner doesn't just learn from the horse, the horse learns about the owner just as much. This is just like a lesson, though no teacher could teach it except a horse. Very much fun involved, though hard parts may happen i know everything will turn out great in the end.

Thank you for listening.

Will you train this mustang?:I will do my best to train the mustang as good as i can.
What are some of your training plans?: First, i want to get the attention of the horse , so that it can trust me. Then I want to train with the longe. Then I want to put the tack on it step by step. Finally i want to ride it without panicking the horse.maybe i can also try some tricks. If this it done, I'll train the horse in different western sports like cross or jumping and dressage.

What are some of your training plans?: (Minimum Answer Length: Three Sentences ; Maximum Answer Length: Three Paragraphs) Well, I'm not a horse expert at all. But since it's wild... I will go gently without making sudden movements and have lots of healthy treats.Once it's used to me I will begin to put on the head gear called a halter? I will get it used to that and the. Begin putting on light blankets on its back until it's ready for the saddle and then I will use a dummy to place on its back just so it will get used to it all the while stroking it, gently talking, and feeding carrots. As soon as it's perfectly comfortable I'll get on it's back and stroke it. I'll then start to ride it around!

Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: sadly no I'm going to my grandma's house. That day I will be driving 550 miles.
Will you train this mustang?: yes

First I would gain his/her's trust. It would much easier to tame him* and less stressful for him. I would put a lot of time in to training him. It would more enjoying for both of us in the long run. I would hope to get him to the point to ride him. I also hope to get him over his fears.
I would use treat to train him. Low fat treats and carrots would be my first pick. Gently is how i would train him.

Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: definetely-im really happy to get such an amazing opportunity, and im so excidet to finally meet my mustang ! i could never forgive myself if i´d let the poor ,probably totally confused animal just stand there and wait for a new home unavailing.
Will you train this mustang?: yes-i will do anything i can to show him/her that living with humans is not as frightening and caged as it may seem at first, and that we actually can be loving friends and caring protectors at the same time for a young mustang.
What are some of your training plans?:
well,he/she will be probably confused and scared due to the fact that he/she basically lost everything he/she has ever knewn, and now there is a whole new area, fences instead of endless freedom. i picked a small, but somewhat afielt paddock as the mustang´s new home, its a quiet place with only a few human activities around it,and for the first two days,i will leave him/her completely alone, just watching from distance and letting him/her calm a bit down and deal with the new situation. i will use this time to study as much as possible about his/her apperarance, movement and how she/he acts under such stressing conditions, hoping to learn more about his/her character while doing this: have i got a nervous guy who runs around bustling? or a laid back and curious girl who stays calm and starts to explore everything slowly?

after a few days,i will start to introduce myself to the newbie : i will just sit on a chair in the middle of the paddock, letting the horse decide when its time to make first contact with me. i will also bring some carrot pieces, because he/she shall combine arrival with something positive.when the horse stopped considering me as danger,i will spend as much time as possible with him/her, and doing various little practices to win his/her trust, and doing anything calm and gentle,i see no use in beeing hectic or rushing me or the horse-friendship needs time to grow.

finally, when i managed to earn the horses trust,i will start with the actually training and try to make him/her familiar with everything a riding horse needs to know: saddle and bridle, beeing around various humans, vehicles and subjects such as currycumb, stable and horseshoes. and,of course, carrying a human on the back and understanding his various messages. i will try to made all this as stress-less and playfull as possible,so the horse can learn that riding is not just fun and learning for the rider, but also for the horse.

Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: Of course! I am going to love this, my mare in rl is a makeover mustang!
Will you train this mustang?: Yup
What are some of your training plans?: After picking up the horse I will place him/her in the pen I have chosen. The pen is right next to the barn and across from one of our arenas, I chose it because it will expose him/her to many everyday things such as the noise of people chatting, horses being worked, the feeding cart in the morning/evenings, etc. For the first day we will take it light, after returning to the new home s/he will be allowed to rest in the pen for a while before I go in, introduce myself and attempt to pick up the short lead (halter will be left on for now) and touch the face/neck. We will continue to progress in leading, touching, handling the legs/hooves, grooming and so on.

I will be giving him/her a name and working on exposing her/him to alien objects (balls, blankets, ropes, saddle, bridle, etc.)
S/he will learn to tie and stand, we will introduce the saddle, bridle and round penning. I will also be getting on and teaching him/her to go off my leg and stop. Eventually I would like to teach him/her to jump as well.

Have you read the front page?: Yep, multiple times actually...cause who doesn't miss something when they only read once?
Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: Of course! Wait....can anyone give me directions? Yes? No? Anyhow, I've already got the truck ready to go directions or not!
Will you train this mustang?: Well I wouldn't just want him/her to just sit around!
What are some of your training plans?: I'll be using male pronouns just for sake of ease

Before even touching the horse, I would allow him to spend a week or more out in the pasture with the other horses getting him use to his new home. Being quite around a new horse may seem like a smart idea but I have learned from experience that this can cause a spooky horse as any slightly loud noises would frighten him; thundering around the stable would just be something he would have to learn to live with even if it frightened him at first. Throwing things around, dropping buckets, and wrestling with horse feed would all be things I would do to desensitize him to the ruckus of a normal barn day. Once he became use to his surroundings...the true training would begin.

As you have to do to all untamed horses, I would begin by getting him to trust me, allowing me to pet him and groom him each day without a fear of harm. Once he was desensitized to me being around him I would attempt to halter him, using a light but durable two knot rope halter; trying over and over again with a confident yet calm and kind voice until he became submissive and accepted the halter. Teaching him to lead nicely would be my next goal, helping him learn that I am in charge and not him, getting him to walk by my side and not run in front or push me over. Once he learned to lead I would begin teaching him to yield, backup, stand, and lift his feet, continuing the same routine until he could do it without me even having to coax him into yielding by slightly poking him on his hindquarters and forequarters. Now that we have finished basic groundwork it's time to move on to the more difficult tasks...riding.

Beginning by tying a rope behind his front legs in a slightly snug position, I would allow him to run around and kick up his feet in an attempt to remove it until he finally settled and realized that it was not going to harm him; I would only move on to the next task when I could place the rope around him and remove it without him becoming scared. After desensitizing him to the feel of a girth, I would place a small bag of feed on his back to represent the weigh of a saddle, increasing the weigh slightly each time he accepting carrying it around in a few circles. Finally, I would attempt to place a real saddle on him, trying over and over until he was fine with running circles with it on his back. Next, I would place a bridle on his head, using a bit that was safe but yet he could still play with it with his tongue; once he accepted the bridle and learned to be controlled by the reins I would place another bag of feed on his back over the saddle and do this until he was fine with it; finally I would try to get on his back even if it meant falling off a few times. After he was trained to ride, I would go deeper in training and begin working on cross-country and endurance courses, teaching him to jump and not be afraid of the sounds of the forest. Hopefully going on to win multiple shows and ribbons with a horse who once ran wild.

Of course!

Yes I would train my mustang. It would be great fun to practice my art and write some stories and letters to tell you all about my training. I don't have any Cottonwood ranch horses yet so I think this event would be a great start!. I love to draw and write short stories so this advent would be a great experience and fun for me!
What are some of your training plans?:
I would love to do more research on horse training techniques and I would love to use what I already know. I would love to train my horse to jump and do dressage. I would train my mustang in many English and Western techniques and some cute tricks!
