Have you read the front page?: But of course :3
Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: So long as I am available I will.
Will you train this mustang?: Yes (Well more specifically Calvin and Nadine will but you know XD)
What are some of your training plans?: Well all plans change according to the temperment and personality of the horse, but I intend to follow a simular training schedule as I did last year. I will start with getting to be able to touch the horse. I will move on to working with tack and introducing the horse to one or two of the other horses. The last thing on my list would be to train with the trailer.

herro der mes amis, i am believe. proud canadian, ottb loving, colt breaking, nfr dreaming. pictured on the left is my racetrack reject, landofmakebelieve, aka molly, moo, shmoo, whatever name comes to mind x] molly is a 10 year old canadian bred thoroughbred mare, and standing at about 16.2hh, we look a little wonky when we chase cans, but la dee da that's alright. molly and i tried several disciplines. i tried desperately to get her to catch on to dressage, but unfortunately, she still has the race bred mind and is all go. however, together we found a discipline which we could both enjoy; western gaming. this summer we started travelling to barrel races locally. our current record on a standard size pattern is 17.314 and we are improving with every run. and to all the low budget barrel racers out there such as myself, a word of advise; chin up darling. you may not have a million dollar mount under your butt, but you and your crossbred, rejected, hard headed, rescue baby can do it. you know why? cause those girls sitting in their custom circle y's, upon shiny, top of the line mounts are full of themselves. they think there's no way they can lose. they get cocky. stay humble, believe in yourself, in your horse, and most importantly ride your little heart out.

Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: Yes!! I would never leave him/her behind.
Will you train this mustang?: Yes, yes I will.
What are some of your training plans?: My training plans? I intend to train my mustang is Stadium Jumping. I will of course get my horse the proper tack and mane and tail cut. It will take a lot of training but I hope that we'll make it to Grand Pix. I'll make sure his/her coat shines so it looks good in the show ring too.

Have you read the front page?: Yes ma'am.

Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: of course

Will you train this mustang?: yes with sketches and writing.

What are some of your training plans?: My overall training plan is to make a horse, never before touched by man into a break away roping, and free riding horse. I hope easily gentle the horse and start with manners and ground work, then slowly work our way to saddle, and bit-less bridle. After that I will introduce the rope, and then being free riding training after that.

    More In Depth

    - when my mustang first arrives, I shall read over there information sheet that is provide to see if they have any quirks or special needs. then I shall address them accordingly. the horse will be turned loose into a eight foot high, steel re-enforced round pen I especially order just for it. A hay net and water bucket shall be placed inside so the horse can stay in there over night.

    - I'll have the trailer back the trailer loading door to the round pen where the horse shall be unloaded, then we'll go from there, if darts out we'll work on calming the wild horse with me standing passively in the middle of the round pen awaiting for the horse to come to me. If the horse stays in the trailer, I shall try coaxing with grass, hay, and lastly feed, then i shall try to put my hands on the horse if it doesn't bolt as soon as it is coaxed out of the trailer, if it does then I shall stand passively in the middle of the round pen, as stated

    - If the horse allows me to touch them, just a bit or even get within arms length of them I'll leave the horse be in the round pen. The next we will being early in the morning working with me getting close to the equine once more, this will go on until im able to rub them all over. Then move to ground work, which will lead to saddle work, and then bridle training. from there we will move towards the break away roping training if the horse takes to it, then we'll do free riding on the side. well if break away roping doesn't work it can be a side thing, as we try other western events beforeing doing free riding as our main thing.

What are some of your training plans?: I will start by entering the corral and stay in the vicinity so the mustang gets accustomed to my presence. Then, I will use food to get closer and later work on haltering. I will bond with the horse, rather than rushing through the motions. Depending on the build of the horse, I will either use my mustang for driving or eventing. After the halter, I will move onto other tack. I'd start out with a hackamore, then later a bridle. After tack, miscellaneous noises will be introduced. Then comes riding inside a ring. During this time, I will also begin introducing him/her to other animals (i.e. horses, dogs, cats, etc.). After we have the basics out of the way, then we may move on to specific event training, depending on the build and after that, trailering.

Have You Read The Front Page?
Yes, thoroughly!
Will You Pick Up This Mustang On the 22nd Of June?
I'm on every day so it would be pretty shocking if I didn't. ;)
Will You Train This Mustang?
Of course! Me and two others will be going all out in gentling and training this horse.
What Are Some Of Your Training Plans?
Well a mustang fresh from the wild isn't going to be too keen on letting us anywhere near it the first couple of days, or perhaps weeks. He or she will have to get used to their surroundings first. Letting the mustang mingle with the other horses in the pasture and get used to their presence will have to be the first part of the gentling process, always with some of the humans it's going to be interacting with later nearby. Gradually, we'll introduce new sights, smells, and sounds to this horse. Our dogs for example will be foreign to them, so they will be key in desensitizing them to ranch life. Once the horse is used to it's surroundings, that's when the real training begins.

Then comes one of the trickier parts of the training; the bonding process. At this time, it will be time for us to get closer to the horse. We will do this gradually, and one at a time so the horse gets used to one distinct handler. Spending time with the horse will get it used to our sounds, scents, and the general sight of us. Through a variety of bonding exercises performed by many different people over time, the horse will become familiar and even grow to like the site of humans. Once we gain the trust of the horse it will also be time to establish ourselves as leader, as he or she will need to know whose in charge for us to be able to continue with training. We will perform a series of 'normal' human actions near the horse to get him accustomed to our behavior.

Then finally, once he is used to us and his new surroundings at our ranch, we will begin to introduce him to everyday tools and tack. Maybe run a few brushes through his coat if he allows us. Later on we'll try putting a halter on him and see how he reacts. If he doesn't struggle we will slowly continue. If he reacts negatively we'll back off for a few days and try again. It will be a while before we will be able to ride him or her, but eventually we will get there. It will just take some time, and patience.

Have you read the front page?: yes!
Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: yes, and if I can't I will let you know! ( I will still get the horse gaur entered I just might be late)
Will you train this mustang?: without a doubt!
What are some of your training plans?: like last year I plan on basing our training heavily on trust building exercises but I would like to dip into some horsemanship methods, using a mixture of Pareli, Monty Roberts, and Stacy Westfall methods. Though everything depends on the horse and how she/he takes to the training! I had so much fun last year and it was how I joined and found CWHR so I look forward to competing again this year!

Have you read the front page?: Indeed
Will you pick up this mustang on the 22nd of June?: Of course!
Will you train this mustang?: Yuppers
What are some of your training plans?: I entered this event last year and unfortunately with going off to camp and vacations and such I wasn't able to properly train and participate although I still have my sweet little mare from the event; plus I wasn't experienced with drawing. This time around I plan on going full-force. Firstly I'll obviously have to get acquainted with the wild mustang so maybe just letting it get use to my presence. The usual slow, tedious process when it comes to training a horse- especially one right off the range.
