*~Artist Competition~*
Please note: this is a NEW Contest as of November 8, 2014. Therefore all entires before this time are not counted. Thank you!
Five artist positions are still available!
Well? Want to be an artist or guest artist?
Create 1-3 FAEs showing me your skills!
Rules:
1. To become an artist or guest artist you MUST add highlights. no exceptions. (View the main thread to see highlights in work)
2. Only natural coloration.
3. Fill out the form! (Just copy & paste if you make more than 1.)
4. You need to make ATLEAST 1-3 FAEs a week.
Also please add to each entry...
I would like 1-3 full time artists, but I do not have to pick all 3 right now. Also note that if your quality of art changes you will get a warning, and could possibly be removed... But that won't happen!
You may not keep your entires. If you become an artist you will be allowed to make one for yourself if you ask.
Thank you everyone,
Aspyn

*~Artist Rules~*
1. Only natural colors.
Meaning if you can not find a reference picture of a real horse to match it, it shouldn't be a FAE.
2. Long haired FAEs are rare!
In order to keep them that way, you must pm me before making one. I will do a head count of how many FAEs there are and decide from there.
3. In breeding, ALWAYS use the genetic coding from both parents and make the baby according to the genetic code.
The code maker can be found in Links.
4. Twins are rare!
As with long haired, you will have to pm me before making them. If I don't reply, don't make them.
5. You may not "auction" FAEs or take payment for FAEs unless they are from breedings. Then you may only take the amount specified.
6. All FAE adoption topics should be named "FAE - (color from the genetic coat calculator)" so that way breedings are easy. If you are unsure, see any of mine.
7. After a FAE is won, the most important info in the first post should be username, name, gender, genetic coding, and offspring to make it easy on everyone those specifics must be stated.
8. You must keep "offspring" updated.
Any rule breaking and you will be removed as an artist. I realize this sounds harsh, but I would love for this species to prosper and this is the only way they will.

So I've heard people have been having problems with the genetic coding and that's what is holding a lot of people back from trying out. But fear no longer & I hope this helps!
Genetic Coding Helper
So first things, first... You must decide what coat color your equine has. If you don't know, I would suggest looking on google for a "horse coat color map" so you can begin to learn the general colors, which will help a lot in the long run. This is a pretty accurate color chart if you need one! Also included here are some markings. The coat color generater will NOT ask for specific markings. It is very vague, which is extremely easy and helpful.
Secondly... You see the link above that says "Genetic Coding Help"? Yes? Now you finally get to click on it! Go for it! Pull it up in another window or tab so you can keep checking back here for help.
So, since you aren't doing a breeding, you are simply trying to find a genetic code. Both "sire" and "dam" boxes will be the same. To make things easy... Let's say you created a brown horse with a black mane and tail, it has no other significant markings. (Insignificant markings include blazes, socks, cornets, or any other facial or leg marking.) This is a bay. So from the drop down box you would select "bay" and "solid." Then, go to the next boxes and do the same, since, once again, you are not breeding only finding a genetic code. Then click "Continue."
After clicking continue, you will be taken to another page that looks complicated, only it isn't.On this page you can select dominate and recessive genes. Though genes are very important, you can choose whichever genes you like with this task. (In breeding you will have to use the correct genes of both parents. Meaning you will simply have to select the ones specified on both parents pages.) But for now, click the ones you want. You created a bay so you could pick... That's right... Any of them! Just please don't leave any factors unknown. Then click "Calaculate."
Clicking this will take you to the final page! You will see both "parents" genes at the top and color possibilities at the bottom with a few seemingly random letters beside them. Click on your coat color in this case "bay", and it will give you genetic options that will look like this....
Ee/Aa = 25.0000%
Ee/AA = 25.0000%
EE/Aa = 25.0000%
EE/AA = 25.0000%
Pick any one of them and this will be your horses genetic code!
My bay will have a genetic code of EE/AA.I really hope I helped and please feel free to pm me if I only confused you more!
