"Mr. Chirply is a very well-to-do parakeet, he has always managed to stay in the upper crust of society. Perhaps it's his lovely plumage or his charming singing voice? What ever it is, you can tell that he enjoys this way of life very much. The lavish dinner parties, outings to fancy theaters at night, getting to rub wings with the 'big names' in town. Yes, Mr. Chirply certainly has lived extremly comfortably. But, how about now? With his older mistress' sad passing what is to happen to Mr. Chirply; well he is to live with her grandaughter. Yes, she might now as well off as his former owner, but she has more than enough love to give this tiny parakeet. Whether he likes it or not. Could he learn to show genuine affection to this girl? Or has his life in high society jaded him to the 'real world'? "

As was described, this character's name represents the type of disaster, it's been sent back in time to stop. Specifically, Visitor is back to warn the human race that it is not alone and very soon, will be attacked.
Visitor himself, though attempting to save the world, seems to have no hope for it. His pessimism is grounded by what he saw back in 'his' time, of what the human race has become. Unfortunately, Visitor only saw the desperation of the people he was created by, he saw corruption and betrayal before he was sent back. And truly when he got back in time, he became disgusted with what the human race was, murderers, thieves, people too lazy to get up and do something about their failing world.
But, he was created for a purpose. And he intends to fufil it.
