kiko padded onward, her breaths growing shorter in length but faster in frequency as she faced exhaustion. her lips burnt in parched agony from the desert sand that whipped against them, hitting her like sharp knives where her skin was bare. she pulled her tunic closer to her face, trying to stop the sand from blowing into her eyes. it didn't help very much, but for a few moments she felt a little better about her journey. he pulled a large cart behind her, full of hundreds of rolled up rugs.

i might actually make it to ceraba in time!

ceraba was a small, unknown town in the center of saudi arabia. it was full of the grandest of all markets- kiko relied upon selling her hand-sewn carpets there. it was the only way for her to get enough money for food, which was mainly made up of meats due to the harsh weather conditions not allowing many plants to grow. all you could see for miles around was just sand, and on a clear day you could see even more of it.

the sun beat down on kiko as the sandstorm blew away. beads of sweat formed on her forehead and she wiped them off, gasping as she noticed tall buildings on the horizon. she darted forward as if she had found a new energy, running towards the city. hundreds of people had lined up along the edges of a thin road, setting up displays on either side to sell their wares. she found a spot, and put up her items out. sighing, she closed her eyes for a moment, enjoying the few seconds of calming silence before thousands of people ran out to make their purchases. she saw a short man stop at her table and she nodded a greeting his way.
