First of all, I do the base, which is in red. It's basically made up of circles, triangles and lines, no fur yet. The head is divided so that you can see where the eyes would be and how the dog's snout would be attached to its face. The snout itself is at an angle. The body is made up of two circles, the chest a bigger circle and the backside a smaller circle. The feet are also drawn as such. The tail is simply attached to the dog.

Then comes the blue lines. They're a simple sketch without the base circles. These lines are the guidelines for the final lines. They're simple, and you can see the fur and the mock expression I've placed on it, even though it's slight. And then there's the fur, the tail, the legs, and the ears.

Finally, comes the lines themselves. The black lines show full detail of the dog, and I've included the stripes.

I can add you so you can see each layer separately if you like. The final lines are layer 2.
