Use: I am a serious sucker for {Internal Blackout}'s designs! Every time I see one, I want to have it. >.< All of them seem to have an edgy feel to them. Maybe it's the accessories that she gives to them. I currently own
Ayelet, designed by IB. I love her to death, and I would definitely like to add Yazmine to my family of characters as well.
She has mostly natural colors that remind me of a German Shepherd. She fits all of my tastes - natural design, unnatural accents, lots of personality, and best of all, some really cool accessories. I'd love to use her as a main character. I treat all of my main characters to a unique backstory, lots of arts, and unique uses like mini stories, novels, or vents. <3
You never know what day will be your last, so you might as well live like it's today.
- About the character -
Name: Yazmine
→ Yazmine is a Persian name meaning "jasmine flower"
→ maybe this will sound really stupid, but i'm keeping this name because it brought back childhood memories. i'll admit it. when i was little, i had a really nice wooden dollhouse full of bratz mini dolls. my favorite one was yasmin (
far right on this photo) but fyi i had them all. i always thought she was super pretty and it was definitely my favorite toy. in fact, i still have the doll hiding around here somewhere... like-wise, i think this design is really pretty, so why not keep the name?
Gender: Female
Species and/or specific breed: German Shepherd Dog
I must say, I regret nothing!
Personality:If there's one thing that Yazmine very rarely ever does, it's apologize. She usually doesn't regret anything that she says or does. It bothers many people that she's so unapologetic as she tends to leave a negative mark, but she doesn't really mind this. After all, she doesn't really care to keep friends for very long. In fact, she likes to think of herself as a loner. Generally she takes care of herself, spends time alone, and isn't very pleasant to be around either. Yazmine has this holier-than-thou perspective on life. She usually doesn't think that it's worth her time to pick an argument with someone, even if she's trying to prove her point. There's something really degrading about how she stops mid-argument and disregards the other person's argument as though it's petty and stupid. Usually Yazmine isn't very bothered by argument. In fact, she grew up surrounded by conflict. It's filled her ears after many disagreements between her parents and among her friends. She's grown so used to it, that she disregards it.
Yazmine is incredibly passionate about all the things that she loved. If she were to be more verbally aggressive, it's likely that she'd be an activist for many different causes and beliefs that she holds near and dear to her heart, some of the more important ones being banning laws in her neighborhood about being quiet past 8 o'clock and defending gay rights. She also is very personal and passionate about her music. She loves to compose music, sing to her favorite CDs, and create playlists on her iPod. She's really good at entertaining herself in many different ways, which is why she doesn't like socializing much. In fact, she really hates leaving the familiarity of her home. She despises going out for dinner, and would much rather stay home with something microwavable.
Yazmine strongly believes that love at first sight is a myth. She's demisexual, which means that it really takes a while for her to get to know someone. And once she does, it takes an even stronger bond and longer amount of time to fall in love with them. She doesn't often have crushes either. Right now, she prefers being alone to anything else. Her sometimes shallow opinions are boldly expressed. All-around she is very bold. She means everything that she says and is incredibly sarcastic. It's not too fun to upset Yazmine, because when you do, she usually holds a grudge and ignores you for long periods of time. She'll completely ignore your existence.
One of Yazmine's quirks that frustrates a lot of people is her ability to read someone's personality just by looking at them. It isn't just the stereotypical "reading" like assuming a blonde is stupid or that someone who wears lots of makeup is insecure and desperate. It's deep reading. She can tell whether or not someone self-harms, she can find little bits of their history, and she can even determine what crowd they're in -- popular, geeks, jocks, etc. The most interesting thing about this quality is that she's able to determine someone's taste in music just by looking at them as well.
I wouldn't necessarily say that Yazmine is a player because she takes a long time to fall in love, and she doesn't like being in a relationship, but when she is seeing someone, she usually can't keep a relationship for very long. She isn't scared of getting hurt, as she's always the one to end the relationships. Rather, she doesn't like to be tied down by any sort of commitment, especially because she's always busy and going through mood swings that lead her to isolate herself from society for a little while. Her moodiness is one of her less flattering attributes, so she prefers to keep it to herself without throwing a boyfriend into the mixture. In fact, Yazmine can be so anti-social that she has one day of the week (Tuesday) that she doesn't like to be bothered by anyone at all. She doesn't like to be talked to, looked at, or helped. She usually locks her room on these days and vegetates on the TV. Vegging out is one of her many talents.
Even though Yazmine is incredibly talented in many fields of the music department (singing, especially acapella, drumming, guitar, and sometimes keyboard) she doesn't like to share this with many people. In fact, she's pretty self conscious about it. Only Silas hears her practicing all the time. Otherwise, she doesn't like singing or playing for anyone, even her exes and best friends. In most other circumstances, Yazmine is vain. Music is just one thing that she sees as being very personal.
Yazmine isn't necessarily very motivated, but she definitely doesn't give up very easily. She hates to feel as though she has failed at something, so she chooses to persist until she achieves what she's striving for. Yazmine doesn't like others see her express emotions either. She especially doesn't like to cry in front of anyone. Her eyes get very red, and she grows increasingly embarrassed. It's Yazmine's opinion that a person looks their worst when they are crying. She also doesn't like to show her frustration, anxiety, or insecurity to anyone. She expects others, especially love interests, to open up to her, but she's a closed book and doesn't share much about herself with anyone at all.
Yazmine has incredible tolerance for pain and cold. She's not concerned by getting shots, going outside without a sweatshirt, or taking a punch. She's very materialistic and she loves her money and possessions. She's good at saving up because she doesn't like to leave the house long enough to go clothing shopping. She's also very strategic, which shows that she's excellent at processing and logic. Her geekiest side is that she is the master of card games. She's really good at reading a poker face, and she can hold one of her own pretty well. She likes to appear stoic and as though she doesn't have a personality, but others like to point out her soft sides, much to her disgust. She can't stand apathy -- either you do something about it, or you don't care. She also doesn't like to hear others whine.
She's a caffeine addict, and she even uses caffeine patches. She loves to drink energy drink after energy drink, her favorite brand being Rockstar for sure. She also enjoys drinking large amounts of coffee at a time. Even though she's good at tolerating pain, she has a really bad fear of dentists because she doesn't like her gums bleeding. Even though she's crude, she's relatively trustworthy with your secrets. Her favorite thing to do? Make covers of famous musician's music.
Growing up without a mom makes it difficult to be feminine.
History/Background:(Right now it's just a summary. I'll also write a full story including dialogue, etc.

)
Her dad and mom fought when she was younger because her dad wasn't paying enough attention to her mom and was too vain. her dad works for a recording company and spent too much time at the studio, so he hired Silas as an all-purpose butler to raise Yazmine. Yazmine could honestly get away with anything because Silas is a big pushover and her dad is an absent parent. Her dad calls her Yaz. He tried to get her into sports (esp. baseball) when she was younger but it never stuck. Yazmine loves Silas with all of her heart. Used to date a guy named Duke but he was too head-over-heels in love with her and she didn't like him trying to get close enough to her to tear down her barriers. (she's very secretive) so now he pretty much resents her, she misses him, does music covers on her own time (recently did Hey There, Delilah and Counting Stars)
(Yay, okay, here's the real deal!

)
Duke ran his fingers through his spiked hair. “Yeah, when my sister left the house, that’s when things started getting really rough. I don’t think Dad really cared, but Mom just couldn’t handle it. She never said it, and I never caught her with it, but I know that she turned to substance abuse and I hated it. At first I tried doing things like my sister. She was always sweet, the first person up in the morning, and she took long walks in the park with Mom whenever she was stressed. I tried to do that, but it made my mom even more hateful. Eventually, I gave up. That’s when I withdrew and started listening to music and developing my own style. It gave me a sense of freedom, but it diminished my sense of hope. I think you’d understand, with how much music you listen to. I mean, it’s practically a part of you, with your dad being a producer and all.” He put his arm around Yazmine and dangled his fingers over her shoulder, tickling her a little. The two sat on the park bench as the sun went down.
“Yeah, I guess I would,” said Yazmine. “I bet that was hard for you.” She knew she was supposed to apologize that he went through that, but no matter what, Yazmine just wasn’t the kind of person to say sorry just like that.
“Oh, hey Yaz. I have something for you,” he said. He withdrew something out of his back pocket very slowly. Yazmine knew that he had been hiding something there, because she’d noticed the bulge earlier. She smiled at him and batted her eyelashes, like any seductive girlfriend may do.
The relationship between the two was really interesting. Yazmine loved being physically affectionate, but she had a hard time opening up to anyone at all. It wasn’t because she didn’t know how to word it. It was just because she was secretive, and she didn’t like giving her secrets away. A secret could be used against you, and Yazmine wasn’t used to being taken advantage of. Duke on the other hand was a real sweetheart. While Yazmine had been with a few guys (nothing past a few hugs, an occasional kiss, and lots of text messages though, really), Duke hadn’t really dated much. It wasn’t because he couldn’t get a girl. With his brilliant muscular appearance and his sensitive touch, Duke probably could be with any girl of his choice. But for some reason, he had decided to pursue Yazmine, the awkward, opinionated, and ruthless young lady with a tongue of sarcasm and a never-sensitive heart.
“What is it?” Yazmine asked. Duke simply returned her smile smugly. He pulled his hand from his back and opened his palm, revealing a necklace. It was a black heart, made to look as though it was on fire. “It was risky, kind of like you are,” he said. She smiled. “I love it!”
He put it around her neck, and she seemed really happy. Until…. he said the three words. “Yaz, I really think that I’m starting to love you. In fact, I do. I love you.”
This was perhaps the most awkward thing that Yazmine had ever encountered. She’d never really said “I love you” to anyone, save her father and her butler Silas. And of course, those didn’t mean the same thing as Duke meant by it. She was silent, not even apologetic for her silence.
“You know what? Nevermind Yaz. Too soon, I can see,” said Duke. “So then, tell me about why you turned to music? Tell me about your dad’s absence or your relationship with Silas? Anything at all really. You sit here and you absorb all of my feelings. I really am falling for you, hard, and I don’t even know if you’re making this worth it. Stop being so secretive and tell me something, anything, that I can know.”
“You know what, Duke? I don’t think this is really working for me anymore… maybe I just can’t be tied down.”
“That’s it Yazmine? No goodbye, no I love you, nothing about yourself, and certainly no apology? Wow, you really don’t care, do you? All right then, you get your wish. We’re through, and don’t you expect me to get over it any time soon. Don’t call me tonight. Just don’t.” And with that proclamation, he stood, and he walked to his truck… leaving her there.
Yazmine looked down at her chest and saw the brilliant necklace again. She felt ashamed, but not guilty. It was the weirdest thing in the world for someone as insensitive as herself. She vowed that she wouldn’t take the necklace off, no matter how tragically it had ended. After all, it was nice, and no one had known it was from him except for the two of them.
I just need… my music, she thought. She picked up her cell phone. Silas to the rescue; he was on speed dial.
Around 3 months later..."Can you not, Silas?" asked Yazmine. "I have a headache, and I just want to be left alone."
"Yazmine, you realize you've been wearing the same shirt for the past three days, right?" Silas answered. Yazmine's butler was a handsome young man - early to mid thirties. He'd been there for her ever since she was younger, and had been hired by Yazmine's father as her all-purpose helper. "I think it's time that you actually left the house to go shopping."
"Ughhhhh," Yazmine moaned. "You know I don't go out in public. Can't I just sleep or something?"
"That's not an option either," said Silas, throwing a jacket from Yazmine's closet to her bed. "Come on, your dad's been hounding me to make you go shopping. Take some friends or something. I won't go with you."
"Fine," said Yazmine, making a spectacle of herself. She slumped her shoulders and threw her jacket on top of her head, moaning obnoxiously. "What does dad care anyways? He's with Jay-Z this week."
"Shut up," Silas said, tickling her. She shrugged away, hiding her giggle with a scowl. Yazmine opened her mouth to speak again. "Whatevs, anyways, I think I'll just go to the mall by myself. Dad's credit card?" she asked maniacally. And of course, Silas handed it over. "Brilliant," she said. "Drive me there?"
"Of course."
Yazmine and Silas hopped into the SUV in the driveway and immediately, Yazmine turned to the radio. "Thought you had a headache?" Silas teased. Meh.
Once at the mall, Yazmine hopped out. "Pick me up at seven."
"Sure thing," said Silas with a wink. "I hate you," Yazmine grumbled. She walked through the front door and immediately felt the chill of the air conditioning. "God, it's freezing." She took a step into Sally's, a department store, and fumbled through the racks. As she lifted a sheer long-sleeve to check the length, she caught a glimpse of a very familiar figure shifting through some sale racks. "Duke," she thought... "why me?" As if it wasn't bad enough to be forced to shop, she now also had to deal with the presence of one of her closest ex-boyfriends. It wasn't like she was, I don't know, madly in love with him still or anything. But the feelings definitely still resignated, and it hadn't necessarily ended well.
"Hey," said one of the store assistants to Duke, "is there anything I can help you find?" she asked in an annoyingly high-pitched tone. Or at least, that's how Yazmine interpreted it. Duke looked up and smiled, until he noticed Yazmine out of the corner of his eye.
"No actually, I was just leaving."
Yazmine was pissed, but nothing that a little music couldn't fix. "If I could just get this shopping experience finished," she thought to herself. She took the shirt up to the register. Enough to please Silas. Next up? Her personal favorite...Hot Topic. A card swipe and a signature later, she was back in the mall's hallway. But how tempting would it be to track down Duke? Wasn't there a store here that would interest him? Of course, the music store. He was a man after her own heart. Might as well give this a shot.
She took the escalator upstairs, and quickly shuffled into the music store, pretending to be really interested in the display. Aha! There he was. In the punk section, as she had expected. She walked up to him, tucking her hair behind her ear. Here goes nothing. "Duke?" she said, approaching him.
"Oh, hi Yaz," he seemed flustered. His eyes darted to the hallway like he was looking for an escape.
"How have you been?" Yazmine asked. She seemed like she was trying to start a conversation, not as though she actually cared, and Duke knew her well enough to notice. "Not that great, actually," he said, "but now's probably not the best time to talk about it. Listen, I'll call you tonight, okay?"
Yazmine seemed surprised that he agreed to talk, but she didn't show much emotion. She had always been the master of poker faces. "Yeah, sure," she said. She started walking away, noticing a Fall Out Boy CD. She might as well make use of her time in the music store while she was there. She pulled her cell from her pocket and read 6:00. Dang, she had to get more than just a shirt to make Silas happy and keep him off her back for a little while. Hot Topic it was. Graphic tees were definitely her favorite anyhow. She took the escalator back downstairs and walked into Hot Topic, immediately struck by the darkness. Graphic tees littered the entire left wall of the store. She looked for smalls. Soon her arms were cluttered with a Black Veil Brides shirt and a few cool designed tees as well. She grabbed a 6-pack of socks designed like Converse and went up to check out. Another swipe and another signature. Her trip had only wasted half of her remaining hour, so she decided to call Silas.
To her surprise, he picked up after the first ring. Very unlike him. "Hey, Yazmine," he said. "I'll be there in a few. Your dad's home early." Yazmine seemed surprised, but she said okay and hung up. Her dad wasn't supposed to be home until eleven tonight. What's up with that? She went out the door and stood on the sidewalk until Silas's black SUV pulled up. "He wants to talk to you," Silas said no sooner than she got in the passenger seat next to him. "If you want to know my opinion, I think it's about your mom." Oh joy, Yazmine thought. Her mom only called on holidays and birthdays. She complained that Yazmine and the recording studio hogged her ex-husbands attention, so she stayed away. What could Yazmine's mother possibly want?
As soon as Yazmine got in her front door, she saw her father sitting on the couch. He was also a handsome man, in his mid-fourties, with brown hair died to hide the grey. "Yaz, I wanna talk to you."
"Really? I wouldn't have guessed. You don't seem to do much of that anymore," she responded snarkily.
"That's not true," he argued, but she paid him no attention. Silas made a point to leave the two of them alone to discuss matters.
"Mom wants you to move in with her," said Yazmine's father. He seemed less than thrilled, though he wasn't home much anyways to be able to miss Yazmine. "The woman's crazy selfish, sport. I don't think you want to do this.. But you're seventeen, and it's perfectly up to you."
"You married her," Yazmine started to say, but she changed her mind and instead responded, "You're right. It is up to me." Her dad looked angry, or perhaps like he might cry. All at once. "Well I'll have you know that I don't plan to move with her. I love Silas too much to do that."
Yazmine's phone started ringing, but too quietly to hear.
"You love SILAS too much to do that?" Yazmine's dad yelled. "What about me?" he asked.
"I don't know, Dad. What about you? You're never around."
"I'm sorry. You sound just like your mother!"
Yazmine had had enough, so she went upstairs to her room. She threw her shopping bags on the floor and hopped on the bed with her iPod. She put it on shuffle, and "You're Gonna Go Far Kid" came on first. She grabbed a deck of cards off of her nightstand and sat up to start playing Solitaire. She was in her zone, and she decidedly tuned everything out. Her phone rang again, but she didn't hear it because her music was so loud. Around midnight, Yazmine pulled off her headphones and yanked her phone out of her pocket. Four missed calls: Duke. 1 new message: Duke. She unlocked her phone and read it.
Wow, Yaz. Way to bail again. Crap. Yazmine was crushed. She'd never mend things with Duke. The difficult thing? She could never let anyone know how much this bothered her. Not even Duke. Yazmine just will not show feelings.
You've got to be kidding me, Silas. How can you be so out of it?
Other Characters:Duke is the boy used in Yazmine's history. He's her ex-boyfriend, and she's still pretty in love with him. </3

It will be harder for you to hear the truth, but would you really rather me lie?
