If Kai was a softer person, Val's words would have left a faint blush on his face. He simply smiled up at her, however, and kept walking. He watched her from the corner of his eyes as she spoke. While he had never seen Seulghem himself, he knew that it wasn't nearly as nice there as it was in Istoth. He considered it a stroke of fate that he was born into the brighter of the two kingdoms. As Val's voice died off, Kai turned towards her once more.

"It isn't nice all the time, but it is rather decent for the most part. There's enough rain to grow our crops and enough sun to help them along as well. As for me, I was simply out on a patrol when I spotted you. I simply wanted to make sure that you weren't a straggling envoy from our side or a trap or anything." It was hard for Kai to keep the suspicion from his voice. While Val was nice and all, he would never simply give someone his trust. That took a long time for him, but it was worth it. Glancing forward, he could barely see the castle in the distance.

It seemed that the Istoth guard was not coming back, even after the guards he had sent and the young woman came back. Shaking his head and pinching the bridge of his nose between his forefinger and thumb, Alvere decided that they would not wait any longer. They could not afford it and as such the guard could catch up if he wished to direct them. However, there had been many envoys over the past few months and the captain of the Royal Guard felt that he knew the streets of the main kingdom just as well as his own. He would not be needed.

The Seulghem Guards resumed their positions and with a small signal they were moving again, all of the carriages much more closely packed now in order to prevent anyone from attempting to steal. He'd prefer it if another fiasco like that one didn't happen. Shifting in the saddle, Alvere began to lead the way down a shallow slope, eyeing up the Istoth castle from afar. It was grand, yes, but he definitely like the one in his home kingdom better.

In one gloved hand, Aeron held the leather reins. His other rested on his thigh as he rocked rhythmically in the saddle. Two Royal guards flanked his sides, their black steeds perfectly contrasting his white mare. The trio cantered along the dirt track, kicking up dirt in their wake. The Prince had set off much later than the envoy, and Aeron did not expect to catch up with them. If the Gods were good, his father and the rest of the Seulghem party would be done with all the formalities by the time Aeron arrived; and only the drinking and festivities would be left. Out of everyone, Aeron had been the most unsatisfied with the newfound peace treaty and had made his opinions vey clear to the people around him. It was no surprise that this morning, as the envoy readied for departure, Aeron was nowhere to be found.

Truth be known, Aeron had awoken - still partially drunk - next to a pretty young maid. It was gone midday and the envoy had already left for Istoth. The Prince was almost tempted just to stay in the city, however he had promised his father he would join him in Istoth. Aeron never broke his promises.

That was why he found himself here, travelling the road between Seulghem and Istoth. It had been quiet so far; only the occassional trader or peddler breaking their pace. They were deep within Istoth land by now, probably nearing the city. The forests had thickened and become more formiddable. Aeron couldn't help but scan the tree's as he cantered past. It was well-rumoured of Istoth's many thieves. As he rounded the next bend, Aeron pulled his reins. His mare protested, her hooves sliding to an abrupt halt. Aeron's blue eyes flickered over the tail-end of the Seulghem envoy and he sighed. Turning to his small escort, Aeron gestured to the envoy, "Take position at the rear. I'm going to ride up front and see what's gone on." The men nodded obediantly as Aeron kicked his mare into a brisk trot.

The pair quickly made their way to the front of the envoy. The Prince drew up his mare, in step with Alvere's steed. A humourous grin was on his face, "Taking your time in getting to Istoth, aren't you? Then again, I always did think your nag was a slow one!" he laughed, before glancing behind him. It was clear from the tightness of the envoy that something had gone on. Aeron turned back, his tone only marginally more serious, "What've I missed?"

    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The slope was uneven and littered with rocks. Honestly, you'd expect a well-worn trade route to be smoother, flattened down into a tough, hard surface that was easier to direct your equine steed upon. Twisting the reins this way and that, the Captain of the Royal Guard was too focused on manoeuvring along the shallow slope - and remarking dryly in his head that the nobles in the carriages would have a very bumpy ride on the way down (and he really didn't want to listen to them complaining) - that he did not noticed when the heir to the Seulghem throne appeared at his side until the Crown Prince spoke.

"And yet he's always beaten your tiny filly in a short race," he shot back, a smile growing on his face before he glanced backwards over his shoulder to check on the envoy, "some Istoth thief stole a leather satchel from one of the young noble women. A Istoth guard who met us went after the criminal, along with two of our own guard, but they - not the Istoth guard - returned without the bag," he explained, and raised a hand to tip the brim of his cavalier hat forwards in order to protect his eyes from the sun, "the other man hasn't returned so I assume he's reprimanding the thief."

They reached the bottom of the slope and here the stones thinned out. Grateful to no longer have the need to direct his horse so much, he now sought to know why Aeron was so late. "Now, why are you so late? Did you get so drunk that you forgot?" They'd both been out last night, wondering the taverns and bedding women. "Or were you too occupied by that pretty brunette maid? I expect she was only too happy to receive your services."

Aeron let out a short, amused snort through his nostrils at Alvere's remark. True, the black steed had always pipped his white mare to the post whenever they raced. His friend would not let him forget it. Aeron loosened his rein as the mare stumbled slightly, tripping over a loose rock. Once she had her head, the horse began to pick her way more steadily down the track.

Aeron rolled his eyes, "Why am I not surprised. Istoth is a nation of criminals after all." His father had already warned him last night to curb his tongue when he arrived in Istoth. The way Aeron saw it, they weren't there yet, he raised his eyebrows slightly, "It wouldn't surprise me if the Istoth guard was in on the heist."

As Alvere changed the conversation, a sheepish grin swept over Aeron's features, "I think I'd call it an alcohol induced coma. I only remember up until the fourth tavern." he laughed, "And as for the brunette, I can assure you she was very happy by the time I'd finished with her." he smirked slightly, "And so was the blonde I woke up next to this morning!" Aeron shifted in his saddle slightly, his eyes training on the horizon as he rode. It was dominated by Castle of Istoth, it's walls growing larger the closer they rode. Rows of fields and farmland framed the imperfect picture. Not a single lake in sight. Something about it made Aeron's skin crawl, "Almost there." Frustration was clear in his observation. Aeron was not great with formalities; or with acting courteous to those he didn't like.

Alvere also gave a sign of his amusement: a low chuckle and a friendly shaking of his head. "Only the fourth tavern?" He questioned, urging the stallion underneath him sideways in order to swerve around a particularly large rock. "I distinctly remember visiting at least seven." And he also consumed his ale much slower, in order to prevent himself from getting too drunk. Very often he had to half drag, half carry the Crown Prince through the deserted streets because he was still sober enough to know where he was going.

They were getting closer to the city of Istoth. With the worst of the rocks now behind them and the road smoothing out - it was more used here than behind them (he could see villages nearby, just off of the road too) - Alvere dug his heels into the soft flesh of the beast he rode and increased the pace. Thanks to the fiasco with the thief, they were now slightly behind and he wished to make up time. "I'm sure both women enjoyed you immensely. I myself prefer to company of... people who know what they are doing." That was where he had gone last night, particularly drunker than normal and in the need for a different sort of company. By now most of his hangover had thankfully disappeared, with just a quiet thudding at the very back of his mind, so at least he was more prepared for this day.

The Great Gates were coming into view. Alvere sneered at their over-the-top gold enamelling but did not urge Aeron to move behind him. He was Captain of the Royal Guard, yes, but Aeron could look after himself. The last few times had been peaceful and he was no expecting trouble.

As the group progressed, Kai watched with amusement as the horses struggled to stay upright. The horses of Istoth were well accustomed to the rough terrain and moved over it with a practiced ease. The sound of conversation from the lead guard and someone that appeared to be part of the diplomatic group drifted back to him. They seemed to be the only ones chatting besides Valoria and himself, but he figured that was just typical of guards. As they moved, the gates of the castle soon came into view. Glancing back up at Valoria, he nodded. "Pardon me, but we are nearing the gates. If I go ahead and notify the guards, your entry will go much smoother. It has been a pleasure, Val."

While the horses continued at a slow, stumbling pace, Kai nimbly moved over the path. As he passed the lead guard, he caught a snippet of their conversation. While being snarky would not do him any good, he just couldn't restrain himself. He kept his voice calm while the anger inside him built. "I was part of the heist? The guard that just chased down the thief and returned the stolen bag was part of the heist? We are no more a nation of criminals than you are. Crime is not due to race or ancestry. It is in human nature and must be stopped by a decent upbringing." Turning, he jogged away from them and towards the gates. Once away, he muttered to himself. "Besides, you are the ones that took my father from me."

Once away from the horses, he shifted and took off towards the door. He had made a signal with the other guards so that they knew it was him and did not shoot. Upon reaching the gate, he shifted and sought the soldier of highest rank. "The diplomatic envoy of Seulghem approaches the gates." Turning, he headed towards the castle proper. He would notify an adviser or a chambermaid of the princess so that she would be ready.

Re: Adelaide Maci - Post 7

    ♕ A d e l a i d e M a c i
    Title;; Vagabond - Age;; 22 - Mood;; Fatigued, Alert - Tags;; None - Health/Stamina;; 80% - Weapon/s;; Dagger

➳ Adelaide didn't realize her behavior until she had already let the bag fall at his feet. She wasn't sure why she was trying to be chipper with him. It's not like that was going to change anything about her heist, but she thought she'd humor the assassin anyhow; It sometimes made people confused to do so, but she saw the determination in his eyes and cut back. She was way to lost in her own thoughts before she realized that the bag was back at the tips of her leather boots. Her body stooped down and took the bag as she listened intently for an explanation from the guard. Though the return didn't make her as grateful as she normally would be. It wasn't much by far, he was right. He could tell she was broke just from looking at her, which made Addie feel weak. And weakness wasn't something she took pride in, by far. So when Kai let her off the hook and left, quick as a flash, she immediately whisked around and went in the opposite direction, her cloak trailing in the wind and concealing her features once more.

Addie pulled the fabric tighter around her as she wandered back to her new lean-to, her home for the next day or so. He was right, she wasn't very rich thus far, but who said that thieves were ever very rich at all? Her ultimate goal was simple: To get just enough money to move away from this realm for good. And getting her current weapons, riding essentials, and a regular food supply for Rohan definitely took its toll on her financial gain leading up to now, though it wasn't much to begin with. But there was one thing that she hadn't given Kai, the only thing that she had left to barter off: A gold ring. They weren't really in the market right now, but she needed the coin. So, as she approached her camp, she decided that she'd go out tomorrow and sell it off, stockpile the septims, and keep very careful track of it, for she wasn't going to let it go to waste on anything but supplies for her steed.

Her foot stepped on a spare strand of rope, the first indication that she as back in her own little corner of the world, her little camp that she has been resorted to for the last two days. The small canvas tent in the corner was fitted around two high oak stumps and covered in undergrowth for camouflage. There were only two occupants of the small space: Her other change of clothes and a small bedspread, a quilt of sorts. Only the remains of a fire stood outside, all reduced to ashes as she took a closer look. The only thing that caught the vagabond's attention, for the moment, was her horse, who had been waiting right near the tent for the whole duration of her disappearance and almost-arrestment. The brown Arabian mix seemed stoic, that is, until she stumbled into the very small expanse of dirt that was free for walking room. He immediately lifted his head and cantered over to her. He was, after all, her only bit of family left; He had been her stallion since his birth when she was 14. He may have been older, but he was a very strong horse, to be able to carry around her vitals all the time as he did. A real smile came over Addie as she reached out to pet his neck, happy to see him so excited.

((I'm sorry this is so sketchy and terribly descriptive, but I have no muse right now.))

Elizabeth raised a keen eyebrow at the man as he continued to interact with her. My name is Adela," she told him, letting her little lie slip away with a kind smile. "I am afraid that there is not anything that you could assist me with. I'm on my way to fetch my horse, and then I am taking my leave of this.. poor place," she murmured to him, a tired look coming over her as she gazed around the little village area. The girl was use to this life, seeing these people, and once herself was just like them, but she could still not comprehend how people could let these men, women, and children suffer below them.

As she gazed around, her eyes landed on a strange sight. A cat-like humanoid riding on horse back, coming up behind them from the crowds. Never before had Elizabeth seen such a, thing, such a creature, such a being. Her eyebrows furrowed, and she gazed away, unsure if it would be hostile or not.

K'Joor
job :; huntress
species :; khajit
where :; her camp
under rule of :; istoth
doing :; moving
with :; no tags
The Khajit applied pressure to the black Shire's sides, picking up the pace again. Yes, indeed K'joor traveled a lot, only because she had a pretty bad reputation, because she was a Khajit and Khajit are said to be thieves even though she is far from one. Or thinks she is. The feline sighed un happily, pulling her hood down and letting the sun warm her quite cold face. K'joor was cooking in the leather, but indeed it did give a purpose for hunting. With her thick snow leopard-like fur, it was not hard to get warm. The Khajit let her pink tongue roll over her quite parched lips, her eyes looking up to the sky. It was the afternoon she could tell, late afternoon at that where it got cooler and a breeze would start to kick in. The air was humid and still, and once in a while a small wisp of wind would blow through but that was it, and not enough for the feline to cool off.

After a while of riding, K'joor had covered quite a lot of ground, or she hoped she did. She had not been paying attention much, since the day had been so beautiful and perfect for a hunt though she needed to set up camp before she could hunt. K'Joor steered Turk towards the woods, and made the sweating stallion gallop in, so if she was getting followed it would be harder to track where she was. The Khajit came upon a clearing in the woods, a circle of Redwood trees with a big enough opening for three horses. K'Joor slowed Turk down, halting the stallion while she hopped off to scout the place out a bit, mark it so she could find her way back, before coming back to camp. She set up her tent, which was made of buffalo hide that had been stretched and washed to make the tent with the fur insides, and then dug out a hole in the ground for her fire. K'Joor put her bed inside the camp and lay the dagger down she had bought earlier under the blankets. She took Turk's saddle off and put a halter on him, collecting the hay she had bought to to feed him and then started making the fire.

At first, the Khajit had seared off a bunch of her fur on her wrist from holding the kindling to long, and then let it try to get up and going on it's own time but sadly failing. At the last try, the feline made a small fire and quickly started adding fuel, waiting for the night to come so she could go hunting. While the fire blazed on, growing high and higher, K'Joor grabbed her bear hide water jug and ventured out to find water. She had taken her boots off, and was now even more silenter because of her paws. The Khajit had both of her ears perked on her head, her nose slightly twitching since she was more of the wilder Khajit than the rest, more cat in her than human.

K'Joor found a small pond, with animals crowded around it to get a drink though they fled as the feline came out of the brush. K'Joor crouched down, and started to collect water, listening to her surroundings closely.
