Finn. The End. His name originates from the Spanish word fin, which translates to "end" in English. That's because this little guy always narrowly escapes ; his name is an oxymoron - it's like he can't meet his end. He always plays tricks and just barely gets away with it. He takes a step on a creaky wood floor to avoid a sleeping guard dog, it stirs... but it never awakes completely. He'll be running acrross the road when a car zooms by, the only thing that happens is fur gets ruffled. He's a lucky little fella.

Why I Want Him ; The Reason
Oh I love this little Taiko. I don't fall in love with too many designs, but this one.. His design is just perfect. The black brindle ripples, the subtle brown in his ears, his curious feel. I also love the species and the way that they're built, plus with their little adorable wings and all. I saw him on CAAA, and at first, it was just another design - I scrolled down to view more posts. But something made me scroll back up, and I clicked the link, ended up here, and wrote out this form in high hopes of winning him. I promise I'll love him and spoil him with art, I promise I'll show him off a little, I promise he'll be in my heart. I love this little Taiko, and the personality and lifestyle that he seems, to me, to have.

    Personality ; Tricky
Finn is a little mischievous, cunning, and smart trickster. He's not one to purposely hurt people, but sometimes it ends up like that. Though he isn't all that mature and sometimes doesn't take responsibility, and this has caused him to have a slightly bad rep with some, but no one's perfect. Finn, like stated above, is a lucky little fella. He narrowly escapes most everything, and this seemingly immunity to getting in trouble has made him a bit overconfident and a trust-you-luck kind of guy. Finn tries not to cheat people out of things and make too much trouble, but he could if he wanted to. Finn the Taiko loves the water and the sea. That's how he got his rope, but that's a different story. He lives in a little townlike place with a big bay there, fed by a huge river. He loves to go swimming and finding little shells and stuff, and he lives in the trees in a rather large nest, covered by a canopy of fresh green leaves. The town is somewhat underpopulated, and he's rarely disturbed by the natives. He's extremely loyal to his friends and is good-natured, but he's a little trickster too.

    The Rope ; A Story
So, I bet you've been wondering about the stray rope around Finn's neck. Well, here is his story...

Finn was walking around the docks one day, minding his own business. He watched as sailors set out to sea to fish, and as night-fishers came back from their trips. Sometimes he even got to have a fish or two. It was a good day - the sun was shining, the birds were singing, the water clear and calm. Later that day, in the afternoon, Finn was walking around, watching fishermen unload the day's catch and talk about things that had happened - sharks spotted, some jellyfish stinging a native, a dog that had caught a few fish for his owner unexpectedly. Finn enjoyed it, begging when he got hungry and a pitying native would often throw him a spare fish. At the docks, one fisherman had gotten into a debate with another and they had wandered off to the other's boat to argue further. But the man had left his son behind, a preteen boy who had an interest in animals. The boy saw Finn walking around, and realizing that Taikos weren't very common, he grabbed a rope from the deck. Finn didn't realize until it was too late - the only situationo where he hadn't gotten away just in time. The boy cried out something in excitement and tied the end of the rope to a ring on the boat. Finn stood there frantically, not letting the boy touch him; he was too overwhelmed. Then the boy's father came back, and seeing that his son had used a rope without permission for tying down an animal, the man yelled something Finn could not understand and shouldered his son aside. Taking out a sharp, ragged blade, Finn pulled his ears back and thought the worst. The father took Finn and gently held him to the boat so he couldn't struggle and escape, and he cut the end of the rope tying him down to the boat. But Finn thought that the man's next move would be something different and more hurtful, and so he struggled free and fled. The other end of the rope was still tied to him, and he's still got it to this very day.

Gra-Rander the Taiko

Postby Galactica Tsunami » Sun Mar 09, 2014 4:04 pm

Image
Hey! I'm A.S.T.S 567. I've been eyeing this species for a while now, and I've just decided to go for this guy right now. Hope I win!
Image
I've decided to call him Gra-Rander, which means "grey stripes," in Swedish. He prefers to simply be called Gra instead of his full name.
Image
Gra is usually very shy and quiet, always keeping his thoughts secluded in the endless abyss of his mind. He warms up to very few he ever meets. However, if one manages to befriend him, he is very loyal and loving toward them for as long as he may live. He is a bit sensitive, and doesn't take well to insults pointed at him. However, if one directs an insult at a friend of him, he'll go full-out nuts on them, no questions asked. He takes great value in beautiful things and deep stories, which he often looks for in books to read or games to play.
Image
It was a bleak, moonless night, Gra's favorite kind. The heat of summer was thick in the air as the young Roan Taiko trotted around the cobblestone streets of a small town. His red eyes never wavered, always staying pinpointed directly in front of him. Crack! Gra's head whirled around behind him at the sound, his long ears perked upright. Red as blood, his eyes now darted in all directions possible as Gra searched for who or whatever made the sound. Unnervingly, Gra saw nothing... This greatly bothered him, as his ears never misheard anything. Ever. Just as he turned his sleek head back around, he spotted him. There was a human right in front of him. He guessed this was the one that made the noise. Before Gra could even turn around to run, the man threw a lasso over his neck and tightened the loop so he couldn't escape. Wh-what's going on!? Gra thought frantically as he thrashed his head around wildly. It was no use; thrashing only made the loop around his neck tighter. Gra began to panic, and quickly grabbed the rope as his instincts told him to. He and the man tugged on the rope for a while, before finally... Shrrrrrrrip! The rope split, bits of string flying into the air. Gra stumbled backward, but not as much as the man, who was sent flying onto his back, and took the moment of confusion to run away. Faster than wind, Gra's legs did not let him stop running, the rope still tied around his neck. From then on, Gra-Rander would never be able to get the rope off; the knot was tied too tight for him to untie, and it was simply impossible to pull over his head. Nowadays, Gra simply thinks of the rope as a nice fashion accessory.
Image
Gra has always been particularly fond of singing and playing violin. He often does the two together, and always practices them both at the same time. He is very good at them both, and can play a killer one-man band by just throwing a quick little tune together and adding some words to go along with it. He can often be found in public, playing little tunes quietly outside any busy storefront, usually at night, hoping to get someone to notice him. Every once in a while, somebody'll stop and listen for a bit, but nobody really ever takes note of him. However, this doesn't bother him, as he mainly plays for the simple fun of it.

"The best and most beautiful things in the cannot be seen or even touched- they just be felt with the heart." -Helen Keller. Gra finds this quote very inspirational. He tries to find beauty in everything in the world that exists, and knows for a fact he can't find everything beautiful by simply seeing it. This quote has taught him to look deeper than what's just in the outside, and find what speaks to your heart. That is what true beauty really is.
Image
As stated before, Gra is a sucker for pretty things. His favorite game would have to be To The Moon. He finds the music in this game to be absolutely beautiful, as well as the graphics, even if they aren't perfectly 3-D. He also admires the touching story of the game that pulls at your heart strings as you uncover every bit of it, thus making it an all-time favorite.
Image
Gra really likes Fridays. He's not quite sure why. It's always had a sense of freedom and relief from busy schedules... Or so he's taken not of from the humans. They always seem to be happy and relieved by the end of Frodays, so Gra has taken a certain liking to the happy feeling always around on this day.
Image
Gra likes the dawn the best. That one, beautiful moment when the sun rises over the horizon to reveal a Blaze of purples, reds, and oranges dancing across the sky that few are fortunate enough to witness. Gra stays up every single day, just so he can se the utterly astounding sunrise that appears at dawn. He can barely stand going a single day without witnessing the beauty of this time.
Image
Gra loves peacocks, no matter how girly or feminine that makes him seem. He finds their feathers to be very pretty in color and looks, once again something he likes a lot. If not peacocks, Gra also likes dragons. He finds them to be very mystical, and loves the fact that little is known about them. And best of all... Peacock dragons!!!
Image
He's gotta say that it's probably a nice, wood-smoked salmon, seasoned with countless numbers of only the best spices and herbs... That's his utter dream food, and he'll do almost anything to get it... He's only had it about twice before in his lifetime, but those two times have been the best days he's ever had, and longs to have more of the delectable delicacy.
Image
Gra simply likes plain water. Nothing more, nothing less. He feels that others take too little not of water. After all, it is what every living thing on the planet needs, and he doesn't understand why everyone else primarily goes for sodas and such.
Image
His markings. They're very pretty, and they go very well with his grey color scheme. I like the way that the stripes look like black water trickling from a stream going down his back... Or at least that's what they look like to me. Either way, he's a very pretty Taiko!
Image
If I was allowed to add anything, I'd probably give him a few accessories. First off, I would give him a tail charm. It would be a simple charm, just a peacock feather on a string tied to his tail near the tip. Second off, I would give him some simple obsidian stud earrings, one on each ear. That would pretty much be it!

    Favorite Food ; Fish
Favorite Drink ; Water or nectar. He loves the salty spray, but that's not good to drink - though freshwater is okay, and he loves it. Plain and simple, but it's good. He also loves nectar, meaning just any sort of sweet, calm, drink - not fizzy or anything, just calm and sweet.
    Favorite Sweet ; Rock Candy
Favorite Sea Animal ; Sea Turtle
Favorite Land Animal ; Probably any type of snake, or maybe a mule, donkey, horse, or something like that. They help a lot more than they're credited for, and Finn recognizes that.
    Favorite Color ; Sea Green/Blue
Favorite Outdoor Conditions ; The Dawn with a soft drizzle, the waves calm, lapping against the shore quietly. It soothes him.
Favorite Game ; Tag or Hide-and-Seek
Favorite Place ; The Beach or his nest

Many Thanks! ; Good Luck <3
I do really hope to win this Taiko, but if I don't, I know the owner chosen will give him a good home <3 I wish the best of luck to all of us, and I thank you, SnowStar for making this little beauty, and thank Pine. for making the adorable lineart and making it free for anyone to use! I may add more to my form, but I'm not sure. Again, best of luck, thank you, and have a wonderful day <3

Loved the form, I like how you developed him. Honorable mention to The Best at Space , it was a very though choice on judging. Thank you all for entering!
So full of hate were our eyes
That none of us could see
Our war would yield countless dead
But never victory
So let us cast arms aside
And like discard our wrath
Thou, in faith, will keep us safe
Whilst we find the path
