Phyllis stared at Tobias slowly, her eyes scanning him like a machine. She wouldn't make a snarky remark at the way he thought he could choose his own partner, but she bit her lip and nodded silently. She had been trying to lighten things up a bit as well, but being herself she knew it wasn't going to be very easy, very easy at all. Releasing her grip from her teeth, she brushed a loose strand of hair, probably a cowlick, before turning over to Hayley. She smiled gently at her, and her smile wavered at the thought of being called a general. General. The word echoed in her mind like a pendelum, and she held a palm to her forehead, sipping her tea again and shivering, taking a larger sip as she tried to calm her anxiety, before breathing in through her nose. "I suppose that's better than being called Phillipina." She murmured, her laugh echoing across the room as her smile brightened her features a bit. Everyone had always told her she looked better when she smiled. She never believed them though, she never really cared what anyone had ever thought of her truly, for she was quite self conscious anyways, she didn't need anyone else's opinion on what they thought of her. As they spoke of weapons, she nodded at Hayley before she cleared her voice to sound louder yet again. "Exactly. Choose a weapon you feel most comfortable with." Phil nodded, shoving her hands into her jeans pockets before looking out at the sky. It was dark and cloudy outside, giving her a chill down her spine as her head blurred and she leaned against the table, closing her eyes before flaring them open again. Turning to her group, she sighed again before rubbing her forehead, the jetlag immediately getting to her as she breathed in again. "You need nutrition. I'll make you all something, just keep yourselves busy." She breathed out, just wanting to get out of there before she passed out in front of the others. Hurrying over to the kitchen, she bent over the sink and took in deep breaths before standing again and walking over to the kitchen and walking over to the fridge, pulling out a bowl and taking a bigger one and pouring even more liquid as she tried to make soup, fighting back tears at the thought of the battle. She wasn't weak- but the pain that swirled in her forehead was too much to handle. Why had the pain hurt so much? She put in spaghetti noodles and stirred, almost sleeping as she watched in a slight daze as she stirred it.

ric's mood quickly changed at the responses to what he had said. And this time Eric smiled genuinely, nodding his head whilst crossing his arms over his chest - leaning to the back of the chair as he did so. It was what most people did before war, try to act positive and light but how could you when all you feel is fear? Eric scolded himself for being so philosophical about such things but watching as people started to pair together, his face flinched a little and he looked to the window, his bright blue eyes scanning the gloomy forest. The one thing he hated was being paired with others; he would much rather work on his own... after what happened, but most of the soldiers here thought it was best to work in teams. If you asked Eric for his honest opinion, he thought it only brought unwanted attention - and therefore more of a chance of being killed. But taking note of what everyone was saying and in particular the general, his icy blue eyes shifted to her as she announced the plan in her little group. It was obvious that people avoided him - it was written on everyone's face. But the plan, that sounded dangerous. As a result he arched his eyebrows and found it amusing that they were still addressing this situation (and the vampires) lightly. " Being light about the situation will only blind you from the truth. But yes, the general is correct in what she says" he said as he walked over to where all the weapons were displayed "Choose your best weapon, best partner, and then there will be no deaths among our side. Harsh, but wars never play fair." Eric's eyes were firmly locked on the variety of weapons before him but he didn't fail to miss what people had chosen as he slowly ran his hand over what might be best for himself.

He was proud of Hayley for choosing the bow - intelligent as it's silent but the proximity and eagerness that Hayley was displaying to be Tobias's partner made him nervous- now Hayley had been very foolish and Eric rolled his eyes quickly. Giving a side glance to the two of them, he remained silent and knew that in the field he would have to keep a good eye on these two. He had seen both of them fight before and both were very exceptional. Tobias may not be the most experienced but his speed and strength was electrifying. Hayley was quiet but her arrows hardly missed her target. But again Tobias appeared fake in his eyes, something was off. However looking back to the weapons it didn't take long for Eric to pick his forte: the throwing daggers for long distance and the gun, for when he needed it most. Running his fingers along them both, Eric nodded in approval but then tried to hide a glare at calling Lucy "Twitch." Closing his eyes agitatedly, Eric knew that he would still save Tobias if he became in trouble and this was what angered Eric. His faulting in life, was that he couldn't bare to see people hurt. Therefore when the general went to the kitchen, Eric turned round and couldn't help but notice her strange attitude. On a normal day he might of ignored it but this was no normal day and so keeping his weapons in his hands, he left the room and entered the kitchen, keeping his distance. "Is everything alright, general?"

Phyllis's face had gone a ghostly pale color as she stirred, her mind blurring with the images in war and of death and blood... so much blood, considering they were attacking the vampires. She hadn't even heard Eric come in until his voice rang through her ears and she jumped, her eyes flashing open a bit wider as she dropped the large spoon, the clatter causing her heartbeat to quicken a bit. She seemed weaker, but she shook her head, the color returning to her face as she realized he wasn't a vampire. Avoiding his gaze, she bent down to pick up the latal before walking over to the kitchen sink and running hot water over it, the steam rising to her face. "I'm fine, just tired." She murmured, before turning the fosset off and drying it with a paper towel, setting it into the soup bowl again. It was a creation she'd always loved as a girl, lental soup. Pouring it into four different smaller bowls again, she sighed before looking up at Eric, her blue eyes glittering with worry, but her face was stone and determined. "Just need energy." Her gaze dropping to the floor again, she pushed past before stopping at the doorway again, looking over her shoulder just barely enough to check the weapons he had chosen. Sure, he was a man, he didn't need a woman's guidance- but she always needed to double check. The throwing knives would be great for long distance, especially if he could angle it right, just to give himself extra time to get past, or just to finish him off with the gun. She nodded under her breath before opening the door with a click, her shoes echoing across the hard concrete floor as she set them down in front of each person. She hadn't even asked them what they had wanted, but she showed no regret as she crossed her arms around her chest. "Eat. You need your energy.." She murmured before finally sitting down. She hadn't sat down all this morning, and as soon as her behind hit the seat she wished she could have just leaned back and slept. It was a worried thought she had sometimes had, the thought about leaving the base and the general duty to live a normal life, with a man she loved and children. She almost wanted to laugh at the ludicrous thought. There was no such thing as happy endings, she'd known that ever since the cold hard truth slapped her hard against the face. There would be no perfect man, no happy family. Not like her own family, anyways. Her family was cruel, she was thankful and glad she had left. Her parents would hurt each other, and she had ran away with no second thoughts what so ever. Her face hardened more as she sipped her tea, realizing she had almost finished before she looked around before finally giving up and putting her face in her palms, wanting to rest and get rid of the pounding headache. But every time she slept she was afraid she'd never wake up. Breathing out, she stood up again before pacing around the group. Looking over at Eric, she bit her lip. Was it right to do this, or was she just being a frail, innocent little girl with no strength? "Eric... Can I speak with you- in the kitchen, please?" Her hand still around the cup, she walked over without looking at the other two, she practically ran through the door without another word.

ominating blue eyes looked over the general as he awaited a response but what troubled him was how startled Phyllis was at his voice. It was easy to see that this was not the usual general they were used to seeing and looking over his right shoulder, Eric wondered if anyone else had noticed - it bothered him that no one besides him had even asked if she was alright. But focusing his attention back to her, his icy irises followed her every movement as his arms once again crossed over his chest. It appeared she was extremely pale (the most Eric had ever seen her) and her abrupt clumsy steps were making him uneasy - these were never good signs... especially when the battle was so close. But half torn between helping her and staying where he was, his predicament was answered when she finally replied to his question. It was a relief. Eric, for the briefest moment, had thought she was just going to ignore him and he would have to remain standing here, trying to figure out what was wrong. However, the corners of his lips upturned into a light smile when that fire he was used to seeing crept back upon her face. But Eric was no fool and wouldn't be led to believe something wasn't wrong without a fight; A great shadow was still cast darkly over her features as she kept on gazing, with bright brown eyes in his direction. Shortly after, Eric was about to speak when Phyllis walked past him and into the main room with no more words. All Eric could do was nod, knowing he shouldn't speak now, and so he casually followed her with his arms now by his sides, his mind still array and puzzled by her attitude.

When around two steps into the room, Eric noticed that the general had approved his choice of weapons and consequently, he set them down on the table as he then passed the room to get the bowl of soup without looking to her even further. If Phyllis didn't want to say what was wrong, that was fine as the tall brown haired man would figure it out soon enough. That was a benefit of being sincere and quiet, you never missed out on emotions, words and gossip and so looking momentarily to Tobias and Hayley one last time, he affirmed that everything was ok and walked away, once again in silence. Eric always preferred to be isolated and so carried the bowl to where he was sat when he first came into the room. With a spoon in one hand and the bowl in the other, he placed the bowl down and then sat on the chair with a graceful presence. However, the soup for reason didn't look that appetizing. Perhaps it was the adrenaline starting to kick into his system but he couldn't force himself to eat. Therefore, he just stirred the soup, taking occasional sips now and then and tried to clear his thoughts as best he could. Although he wasn't a general, he felt responsible for all his team mates, and although he would not like to admit it, Phyllis always looked better when she smiled. "Eric... Can I speak with you- in the kitchen, please? As if she had somehow read his mind that he was thinking of her, Eric looked to her slowly and then nodded - a blank expression on his face. "Of course, Phyllis" he replied whilst blinking twice. Standing up from the chair he saw her run and decided to quickly follow. He was more concerned now and so quickly opening the door, he entered the kitchen and closed the door behind him quietly. Remaining at the door but turning round, now his blue eyes were full of emotion. "What's wrong?" he inquired, tilting his head to the side slightly.

Hayley smiled up at Phyllis when she set the bowl of soup down in front of her. "Thanks, Phil." She smiled gratefully, taking a few bites, but was really too nervous to eat. "It can't be helped, Eric. We have to protect our own, no matter how many of the vampires die. It's not like there's not a good chance that we're all going to die." She glanced back at Phyllis as she stood up, feeling a little worried. She looked sick, well, not sick, but she looked... bad? She wasn't sure how to phrase it. "Phil, are you okay? You.." She said nothing else, not wanting to expose her in front of everyone. She felt really nervous, like something was off, but she wasn'ts ure what. One reason she really wanted to go with Toby was because she felt more at ease around him. She could tell Eric didn't like him though, and she didn't really know why. Would he be jealous? She didn't want to think about it, so she pushed it from her mind, not sure where she should look next, so she looked at the floor. "So, how about it Toby? Want to team up with me?" She didn't want to sound needy, but she honestly didn't think she could do this without him. "I.. I'm not sure i can do this alone." She muttered, hopefully he couldn't hear her, because she did realize how stupid it sounded. Then Eric and Phyllis went into the kitchen together, privately. What was that about? Hopefully nothing too important. She wasn't really sure. She just felt nervous, more nervous than she had ever been. She'd never been this close to the vampires before, and she felt like she could throw up, to be perfectly honest. But she pushed back the feelings and tried to keep calm.

Phyllis stood in the kitchen, her face still hard as her eyes narrowed at herself, not anyone else. She was angry at herself for being weak, for allowing emotions to swirl inside of her and take a hold of her. She clenched her fists tightly before shutting her eyes, not allowing the tears to slip out but instead flashing them open and letting out a sigh, even a hint of distress in her voice as she slumped onto the counter, covering her face with her hands before she let out a muffled moan, her headache pounding in her ears as the blood drained from her face, paling a bit before she let her voice crack. "I'm sorry.. I just- I needed to say something... to someone.." She let it out, feeling small against her own words as she stepped on her foot gently, trying to keep herself from being weak and a fool. It was not worrying. Fear had engulfed her, swallowed her up and was about to spit her out. The bile eating her stomach away from hunger had long been gone, and she swallowed again just to get rid of the foul taste in her mouth from the tea. "I'm..-" She drew in a shaky breath and could now feel the hot tears pouring down her face, but she hid them in her palms, her voice still calm, as calm as someone crying could be, but she hid them by pressing her face against her knees as she sat down, knowing Eric was probably as confused as she was right now. Her mind was a blur of fear and loss, of excitement and terror. She didn't know what to think of right now, just that she wasn't ready to loose her friends or herself. "Afraid." She wasn't afraid truly. She was afraid of herself, how she would be able to stand on the battlefield in front of some of her worst enemies and still give them a cold glare. She buried her face inside of her legs, before sniffing and wiping them on the back of her sleeve. When the awkward silence had begun, she had thought about things. Things that she really shouldn't be thinking about. What would happen if she would abandon her friends just for her own life, would they trust her still? No. She thought to herself before narrowing her gaze that was still hidden in her knees. I'm not going to lose my mind just over some group of blood-sucking idiots. She sniffed again before lifting her now a bit red face, the wet lines still there as she rubbed against them, trying to look at everyone but Eric. She didn't want to have pulled him into this, just so that she could tell someone she was afraid of losing herself and her mental abilities in there. But she knew she could trust Eric with a secret. "Sorry to waste your time. Now get back to work.." She sniffed, a hint of care in her gaze that was soon washed over with seriousness as she folded her arms across her chest, pointing her chin upwards as he walked out, which was soon covered up with a smile. Girls were so moody. Rinsing her face, she soon then walked out before clearing her throat again. "Sorry about that everyone. I think some onion in that soup got in my eyes." She hollered, and tried to cover up the fact she had let out four tears. "The other's who are too lazy to show up will not come, and you will not feel sorry for them, am I clear?" She murmured through gritted teeth before arming her weapon and slinging it against her back. Placing two throwing knives into her belt, she opened the door and let the cool wind blow against her before turning to the others and nodding firmly, her emotions still shaken but now under control as she took a step forward, wondering if she would ever come back.

Eric's personality clashed painfully with Tobias's and every second they spent in the same room was another second that Tobias really just wanted to attack the guy. Sometimes he thought it'd be utterly satisfying to just rip the guy's throat out. But, for the sake of his security, he had to refrain. Tobias watched Eric pick his weapons, noting that the man picked the same ones as him. That much they had in common, so that much he knew Eric would respect him for. Luckily for both of them the general called Eric aside and the two left for the kitchen. Tobias narrowed his eyes with suspicion and curiosity, knowing that he could use his hearing to pick up on their conversation. Just as he began to tune in, a voice from his side--painfully loud due to his eavesdropping sensitivity levels--spoke. "So, how about it, Toby?"

"Whaaaa--?" Toby murmured, dazed by the loudness. He turned to Hayley, a hand rubbing at his ear with hopes to alleviate the pain.

"Want to team up with me?" Tobias paused, considering Hayley's earlier proposition. He looked towards the door just then, sighing under his breath because of the fact Lucy hadn't shown up. Who knew if she was even a part of the team anymore. She seemed like she'd been close to quitting for weeks and her fearfulness had never made her very useful. It was a bad sign for him, her not being there, because now he'd have to pair up with someone that might actually notice something amiss. He refocused his eyes on Hayley just in time to catch her saying "I'm not sure I can do this alone." He frowned deeply. Normal ears may not have heard her speak, but he did not possess normal ears. Hoping to lighten her mood a bit, he procured a wide, goofy grin.

"Sure, that'd be great!" he declared cheerfully, even though it really wouldn't be great. It'd honestly suck; a lot. She was too attentive and he was worried he'd be too hungry to care. Not to mention the fact she was braver than Lucy had been--Lucy'd always avoided endangering herself and therefore avoided getting injured... and therefore avoided Tobias ever being tempted to possibly use her as a source of food. The last thing he needed was Hayley getting cocky, getting hurt and then himself possibly blowing his cover. He figured he had enough self-control, but this was the first time he'd ever been faced with a battle while as hungry as he was. "Glad to have my own personal Katniss," he teased, leaning back further against the controls and lounging comfortably.

Just then Phyllis and Eric finally strolled back into the room from the kitchen and Tobias nearly cursed under his breath, recalling that he'd been planning to eavesdrop on them. He cursed under his breath a little, sitting up straight again and listening as Phyllis made up some phony excuse about getting soup in her eyes. Hardly being able to hold back an eye roll, he perked his eyebrows a bit. Phyllis had definitely been crying, that much was obvious. As a predator himself, he could practically smell the fear rolling off of her... but she put up a good front and he gave her props for that. If the vampires ever caught her he'd have to put in a personal note to tell them to turn her instead of killing her. She'd be incredibly useful. Lastly, she muttered something about the others that hadn't shown up and told them not to feel sorry for them--of course, Tobias didn't. If anything, he was sorry that they weren't going to get killed for being the cowards they were.

Phyllis armed herself and Tobias followed suit, standing up tall next to Hayley and throwing her a look of "you ready?" Phyllis opened the door, nodding to them all, and Tobias stepped up behind her to follow her outside.

[ btw since city dropped out of the rp, Lucy is no longer a character xD haha. Anyways, i guess they're moving out now! ]

Hayley felt a little happier when Toby said he'd team up with her. he just put her at ease more than the others did, because he was so goofy and fun to be around. "Thanks, but i'm not that good, Toby." She smiled, laughing a little, allowing herself to put her mind and heart at ease. Being around him made her forget her troubles, but on the other hand, there was always something slightly off about him. "Are you okay? You look a little sick today." She commented, also seeing a slight falter in his goofy smile. She said nothing more, but felt a slight foreboding feeling in the back of her mind, and it wouldn't go away. It couldn't be because of Toby, right? He was such a nice, funny, kind guy, he wouldn't ever do anything bad, right? She shrugged, picking up her bow off the table, and a quiver of the wood tipped arrows, which had been soaked in vervain, and slung the quiver over her shoulder. She also picked up a pistol and a couple of small boxes of wooden bullets, putting the boxes in her pocket and the gun at her belt. She felt scared, and her heart sped up inside her chest. She didn't want to be scared, she was supposed to be strong. Being strong didn't mean she wasn't allowed to be scared, though.

She shrugged slightly, not sure why she did this or who it was for. "Guess it's time to move out, huh?" She nodded at Phyllis when she came back, not questioning her about the onion, but she knew her friend might have actually been crying. But she let it go, not wanting to upset her leader. She wasn't ready to go, but she had to. At least she'd be with one of her closest friends, Tobias. She hoped her friendliness didn't come across as being flirty, because that wasn't her intention at all. She was just really loose around him, and she felt comfortable to act with some careless abandon and she felt comfortable to be herself. She wasn't sure what was going to happen today, and didn't want to lose anyone. She didn't want to die, and she didn't want anyone else to die.

She smiled, but on the inside fear was pounding through her veins, so she tried to keep a smiling face on, hoping no one would notice her fear. "Who's ready to stake a few vamps, hm?" It was not the time to joke around, but she tried anyways. Joking wasn't really her strong point, especially when she was scared. She almost never felt scared, but right now she was terrified. Vampires were her mortal enemy, and she wanted them all to be dead. They killed her family, all of them. She was only scared that they would kill her too. She would rather die any other way then by the hand, or rather, fangs, of one of the undead. She had never been bitten in her entire life, but she had heard it hurt more than anything. She shivered at the thought, now just trying to keep from running out.

t all happened so fast that Eric barely had time to react. He was stunned by the way the general was acting but he remained stood where he was, listening to her with an open heart. Her words stabbed daggers in his heart - it was hard to accept the fact that people were afraid but at this moment, Phyllis was reminding her of Heather... the girl who's mood would change like the wind. Swallowing, Eric forced a smiled as best he could and then nodded gently as he made his way to the counter in the middle of room. He still kept his distance but leant over slightly so he could look directly into her eyes. She was crying and Eric narrowed his eyes slightly in a furious bid to analyze her as best as possible. This poor girl wouldn't be in state if the war had never happened and it made him feel angry - what caused the vampires to start a war anyway!? To take back a land that is rightfully theirs? To take revenge? Everything can be done with sophistication and respect and therefore, because the vampires had chosen war - the humans had the intelligence and sanity on their side. However, seeing her clenched hands, Eric came out his swirling thoughts. He sighed and hesitantly put one hand on hers - but it meant nothing. Eric was only trying to be wise and comfort her the best he could. "Phyllis listen to me, being afraid is a natural emotion, much like happiness, sadness and love." His eyes locked with hers and he offered yet another smile, taking his hand away. " If you didn't feel fear, then you wouldn't be human. And hey, in this point in time, being human is a good thing!" Laughing with a silky tone he stood upright again and then awaited her response. He slightly regretted his words, knowing that being human... probably wasn't good as you be eaten any moment! But It made Eric wonder, why she had chosen him to talk too, being the sincere and blunt man he was? Alternatively , it felt... satisfactory; Eric for once was being trusted and this now gave him no option but to keep a look out for Phyllis in the field. The blue eyed man knew all too well that things were going to get allot more dramatic. But again Tobias crept back into his mind, if anyone, he would stay focused on him - it was only now he was beginning to trust him less and less. Strange.

Sorry to waste your time. Now get back to work.. Eric's eyes widened at this and turned his face to look at her quickly. Did he say something wrong? This was very abrupt and it made him falter for a moment - is she feeling stronger already? Eric thought not. She is just masking it, like a experienced general would to give her fellow comrades hope - clever. " As you wish, general and never do you waste my time." waiting for her to exit first he then sighed deeply before following her out. He was not too bothered what she had said in the main room, but the comment about onions made him raise his eyebrows in disapproval. That, was hardly believable but luckily no one might have seen his expression as he was busy collecting his weapons from the table. What didn't go unmissed though was that Tobias has chosen the exact same weapons as him and putting them slowly by his side, Eric looked first to Hayley and then to Tobias in his usual stance. He was quiet impressed at how fast the man's facial expressions could change but why did he look so angry when himself and Phyllis had left the kitchen. The question floated around his mind for a bit but pushing it aside he followed the rest of the group. He would think of such matters later. It was now time to fight.

Phyllis wrapped the gun around her wrist as she stared at all of the people in front of her. Tobias. Her mind instantly calculated different things they could use him for, and she stared on until her gaze shifted to Hayley, then to Eric, and finally down at herself. Four against four-hundred. She shivered silently, but firmly held the grip on the gun as she looked up at them all. Nodding, mostly to herself, she walked over to the door before gripping it so tightly that her knuckles turned white, shifted the door open, and pushed. The weather had changed slightly a bit, and the wind whipped wildly at her ponytail. She shook it off, the chills that where now spreading across her arms, and walked forward steadily, her gaze firmly locked in front and around her in case any stray vampire had decided to push further in their territory. Shaking the stupid thought away, she walked forward before looking around at the van that was parked in the driveway. It would be too obvious to ride in a vehicle there, they could spot her in an instant and then immediately they'd all be trapped inside, if one of them were willing to step out of the car. Turning around she kept walking ahead, her own feet going numb but she kept going, holding her arm tightly to her sides to keep them from shaking. She stopped halfway, before turning to the others, her face cold and hard as she narrowed her eyes, a threatening look sweeping over her gaze before a more comforting one soon replaced it. "You need to be selfish on these grounds. If Hayley and Tobias will be going center together, that mean's Eric and I will be going to the left and right alone. Good luck." Were the only words she could manage, before she turned around sharply and kept walking. She trusted herself to go alone, didn't she? What was she afraid of, a few silly vampire's that would bite her neck? She'd swipe their head off before they could scream out 'bloody murder'. Breathing out slowly, she kept walking forward before she could see the tall grass of the plains a few hundred feet away. They'd make it there sooner or later. Smiling at the thought, she pulled the trigger, the click causing her adrenaline to rush inside of her as she kept it there. If any vampire planned on a surprise attack, she would shoot immediately. They had walked in silence then, and she bit her lip painfully, just as a reminder of the pain that was soon to come. Was it a bad thing that she had liked it? The trickle of blood against her ears, or neck in this case. It was beautiful, the way it ran down in such a smooth line. She had seen it so many times she wasn't afraid if someone was dying and needed medical attention. A laugh was bubbling in her stomach at the thought of blood, but she pushed it away. Hysteria. She wasn't going to let that get to her. Shaking her head solemnly, they stopped in front of it and she breathed out solemnly. "Time to part. We've discussed this.." She looked over at Eric and nodded, trusting him to protect himself alone. Turning around to face them, she nodded softly before turning around again and making her way to the right, parting them once again.

[[@Baskerville;; The vampires should be coming now, correct?
