Okay, okay, I admit it. I have far too much fun basing Kitsuneko on horror games... Kūsō isn't? This time I was only slightly influenced for the name, since there is a horror game called Maere: When Lights Die. I always thought it sounded really cool, so I researched the origin of the name and it turns out that it's based on a myth that really fits with this Kitsu. Barely any influence. Not obsessed. *runs away to hide*

Despite her feminine appearance, Maere's favourite thing to do has always been to tinker with things, creating fantastic 'creatures' from metal and magic. She loves to infuse her mechanical creations with foxfire and non-species magic, making them capable of supposedly impossible feats. Despite this, she would not call herself an inventor, as the things she makes are generally little more than weapons; a mechanical bird with the ability to fly, tiny animals with glowing eyes. Her favourite so far has become a companion of sorts, a small and sleek silver and bronze Wvyern, the most delicate and advanced of all her creations. It is even capable of breathing a thin stream of her foxfire. The amount of things she has on the go at one time will always be a source of amusement to her, however. Anyone who thought to steal anything of hers would be met by a small army of unearthly metal creatures. And Maere herself, who is a force to be reckoned with in combat.
Making things relaxes her, and she will often be found sitting up in the dead of night under the moon, gears and scraps held in her paws and her foxfire providing a light for her work.
