Show Name: Tied at Yoke
Barn Name: Strongheart (also called "Laddie")
Age: 10 Years
Gender: Stallion
Breed: American Cream Draft x Morgan (American Cream Drafts have the Champagne gene, and his father was a Silver Black)
Colouration: Silver Classic Champagne
Personality: Strongheart is a tough, determined fellow, with the true heart of a warrior. He hates backing down, and will sometimes fight his rider when it comes to that, if they do not have a pre-established bond with one another. He needs someone to be both gentle and firm with him, or he'll get his head stuck in one way. This dates back to his being the smallest in his pasture and scuffling with larger colts. That being said, he is by no means cruel or dangerous- merely headstrong. He does fit the idea of a "gentle giant" draft, to an extent. He is very ginger and careful around children, they make him rather nervous, so he goes very still and will very carefully give them a sniff.
He does enjoy attention from mares, but also likes being around geldings. Most of his pasture mates are geldings and some male mules, so he gets used to "guy time".
Overall, Strongheart is a creature of passion and strength, with a warrior's heart. Move over racehorses, the big-hearted horses are the jousters.
History: Laddie wasn't exactly a planned foal- and his new owners were certainly not expecting their newly-bought American Cream Draft mare to drop a dark-coated, spindly foal! While thicker than most light horses, he still was smaller than the other foals on the farm, which was full of cream-coated drafts with pale amber eyes. Amongst them, Laddie stood out like a sore thumb.
But, none of this stopped Laddie. Like the founding stud of his breed, he was a tough little cookie, and when it came to teaching the yearlings driving tricks, he wanted to be a part of it. He astounded the owners of the farm as he took off with the pulling dummy, dragging the pole all over the arena, blowing and snorting when he finally came to a stop in the sand.
The owners who raised him fell in love with his determined spirit, but when he grew older and began to take an interest in the fillies and mares on the farm, they knew it was time for him to go- they couldn't be breeding dark-coated little foals on an American Cream Draft farm. So, they sold him to a trainer who took an interest in demonstrations. While he originally wanted Laddie (Now almost exclusively called Strongheart) for a driving horse, he soon decided to take that spark of fire in his eye and direct his strength towards something else. He had an old medieval horse costume in the barn that hadn't been used in years, but he patched it up, threw it on Strongheart, and began to train him to be a jouster.
And Strongheart loved every minute of it. He loved tearing down the track, ripping up clods of earth, as he pounded towards an opponent. He still loved driving, but his fierce spirit and warrior heart demands of him to face the opponents head on- like the bigger yearlings and colts he used to spar with back at his birth farm. Prove he was big enough, strong enough, to take them all down.
Art Piece:
(Strongheart imagines himself showing off as the strong Trojan Horse- which is a bit different than most! XD It's cartoony since it's in his mind)
