Callie laid down at the waters edge. It was really nice day today. She sige letting the sun warm her creamy white pelt. She watched the water as small ripples appeared here and there.'she focused on her own reflection for a minite. By just looking at here you'd never guess that she had anything less than a perfect life. The small fae tried not to let things show no matter how hard things got. She was a survivor and that was plenty reason to smile.

Listening intently he looked shyly away when he noticed that she had seen him looking at her, the captivated dingo couldn't help but feel sorry for the young fae "Experiencing such hardships so early in your life can't have been easy, nor is it fair that these hardships were inflicted by those who were supposed to protect you" While Kai could understand, he couldn't ever imagine that level of rejection by his own kin, while his pack had been together it had been functional and supportive. Luna was digging in the sand of the cave as he became comfortable and lay down, the rock he was perched on was the perfect temperature, just beginning to get hot. There was an element of hesitation in his mind...on one hand there was the comfort provided in confiding in strangers but on the other he'd also never actually told anybody "I don't think I will ever be able to fully appreciate the kind of pain you've experienced, but I do know of fear and loss. While I was about your age, perhaps younger, I was still in the pack that I had been born into, like you I had been the child of the alphas, but there were a lot of other litters born illegitimately. This wasn't a problem for us but it did mean our numbers were booming." Kai had been watching the colour of Luna's fur change from pearly white to dusty orange as she dug and flicked dust around herself. The sun caught it and she emphasised the glow that had already made the cave feel warm. He might have smiled if he didn't wince instead. "Our dens were dangerously close to a village that had quickly become a town, as their population grew, there was more food and thus more of us...one day their tolerance ran out, poisoned food was left for the unwise to choke on, traps were set, fences placed and the water was tainted, not enough to kill but it made us weak, and when we were weakest they struck in force." His voice cracked and he took a deep breath, scrunching up his eyes and looking away before he spoke again "While we slept they poured a strange smelling liquid into our dens, then a great fire snaked down the trail the liquid had created, newborn pups roasted while they nursed. I'll never forget the sound, mothers howling for their young and pups of all ages calling out for help, my pack mates squealing as their red fur, wet with the liquid, scolded them. I fled, couldn't even bring myself to go back, though I did think about it a few times" Kai quickly got to his feet and shook his coat "Maybe we should change the subject ay? This one's not so cheery"

Not wanting to put a downer on the mood Kai jumped down from where he had been sat and moved closer to where Luna was "We could go for a swim if you want?" his face was open and curious, he wanted to let her know that while his past was painful he had come to terms with it, he preferred to enjoy the good things instead of dwelling on the bad. Besides none of this was Luna's fault so he wouldn't want to make her feel awkward.

Whilst on his way back from the water's edge he noticed a fellow pack member, having already taken his morning walk he decided he could stay here for a while. He remained still, Callie wasn't headed for him anyway and reached the water further up, he hoped she wouldn't notice him but being clumsy he was probably making loads of noise in the tall grass he was trying to hide in. He decided that hiding was for pups, taking a few steps forwards and standing above the grass he tried to speak but nothing came out


This ended up bigger than I'd intended it to D: ))

Luna

Luna stopped digging at the sound of Mordecai's voice, listening as he told her his story. Listening was the only thing her kin had told her she was good at, which was partly true because she was in fact good at it, but it incorrect at the same time as she was good at many other things, as well. She nodded. "Well I guess I just got used to it after a while" she replied, knowing she hadn't told him the full story, but she also didn't think he would either. She listened closely, paying full attention while he was speaking, feeling stunned on the inside that he had been through harsher than what she had and was still alright to tell her. "I'm sorry I asked, Kai" she responded after he had finished talking, feeling shocked and a bit guilty for asking and bringing it up. Luna thought for a bit when he asked her if she wanted to go for a swim. She quickly realised he probably didn't want to ruin mood so she nodded quickly. "Sure, I need to get this stupid dust off of my coat, and it'll be fun" she replied with a faint smile. "Lead the way" she added, shaking her coat making a bit of the dust come out of her coat, but not all of it. She then stood, waiting for Kai as she didn't really know where to go.

Kai turned solemnly, his head low, ears down and tail hung heavily "I'll race ya!" he'd been acting sad, now he turned to Luna in a playful stance before leaping a few feet away from her and turning as if to run away. A few moments later he raced back towards her and almost crashed into her side, Kai dashed around her, then around some rocks before heading off in the direction of the water. He didn't run off though, he lingered a few meters away, hoping she would engage in his invitation to play.

Luna

The white fae watched him curiously, not expecting his playful behaviour. She shook it off and bounded off after him, smiling softly, her small build helping her to easily catch up to him. She ran towards him, playfully grabbing his tail and holding it before running ahead. "Catch me if you can" she teased before prancing around him, soon running off again.
