Goennec Pen #:Nine
Name:Fade
How would you use him/her:From the moment I saw Fade; I was in love. The first thought that popped innto my mind was the Chaos, and his story. I have, lately, considered adopting another kid to enter into his story, and I knew that Fade was made for the part when I first laid my gaze upon her. Something about her just clicked; and I had immeadiately known exactly what her story would be. I've fallen in love with this young doe and her personality; and I really wish to call her my own.
Yes, I have won eight Goennecs, but that does not make me love any of them any less. Fade would be immensily cherished; and used quite often. She would become a frequent subject of my study hall doodles; and a new companion to headmate with. She would be given a place in my character site network; which is about ninety percent done; and I would order much art of her. As Triple knows all too well; I've overcome my dislike of ordering art; and have started to focus more on that than saving my pets up for a complete collection. Chaos' story would be revised to include Fade as another main character by his side; and I would write many pieces that focus only on her.
Define your Goennec:Fade is quite the creature. Her unwillingness to let matters be astounds me, as does her amazingly large arsenal of witty remarks. She is a doe of almost boundless energy, one who is able to race all day and then spend the night watching the reflections of stars in puddles; only to repeat the cycle when morning comes. She does not press limits upon herself; though she acts extremely respectful towards her mother and the Prime. She is, after all, his daughter. In certain ways; she is very much a young doe. It bothers me at times, but what is someone like me to do? I cannot order her to stop staring at the handsome rams during the siv, or snort at her obbsession with beautiful things. I do not really understand her. One moment she'll be talking with me, her golden eyes shining with pleasure at our closeness; and then she'll be shyly eyeing the prince, murmuring things under her breath about how gorgeous his horns are. Only one thing truely sets her appart; a thing that happpens to be nothing more than her suspicions. An elder might have suspicions about the relationship between clouds and storms and such; or a kid about who took the little branch that he had been playing with.
Fade's suspicions run much deeper than that.
Unlike the Prime, she does not trust me. She knows that I am different, that something asbout me is not quite right. Little does she know about the destruction that I cause.
And for fear of her hating me, I hide the truth. I refuse to give anything about the being with whom I share my mind away.
She doesn't believe my facade, which causes problems.
So I hide. She seeks.
And somewhere deep down inside; I know that she will eventually discover the truth.
I shall loathe that day.
-Chaos
To put it simply, Fade lies to herself. Rather than confront herself on the issues involving her relationship with Chaos; she chooses to distort the truth and allow herself to see him as a manipulative, evil creature. By doing this she is able to stay in her own little fantasy world where the Prince loves her and she will someday bear him many kids. The truth is; the Prince sees her as nothing more than a young doe. Fade likes to play pretend in order to discard Chaos from her thoughts. All Fade wants is to be appreciated and loved. She is a terrible fighter, and horrid at being social; which often makes it seem as though friendships with her are impossible. Fade is naturally suspicious, yes, but she has a habit of taking an innocent suspicion and taking it much too far. Mabey this is why her relationship with Chaos has so deteriorated. If she ever chose to truely look deep within her soul; Fade would be able to see these things clearly, and change for the better. The only problem is that she would rather stay in her world of make believe where she is the Prince's future mate than choose to accept the truth of things.

At the time of Fade's birth; the herd that she would be part of was large, but under control. Their Prime, an old ram, liked the herd to stay neutral; avoiding conflict with other herds. He had no wishes to expand the herd by defeating and forcing in does, but rather chose to sit on the fence, not taking sides. Lucky for her; Fade's mother was the mate of the Prime, and Fade was the only kid that her mother was able to conceive, even though her parents tried for more. For some reason; the Prime liked kids very, very much. When he took interest in a young ram named Chaos; it was no surprise to the herd. While Chaos was mind and good-natured; the entity that he shared his mind with was not. Klavox. The Manipulator. A demon, a failed possession. And so when the little ram began to persuade the Prime to start entering conflicts, it was not simply because of Chaos' wish to be the Prime's advisor. It was Klavox's wish.
For the first two years of her life; Fade was very content. She spent lazy days hanging around Chaos; racing and playing with her red and black friend. This was before his mind was taken. The two of them were close; not bothering to waste their time with the older members of the herd. They were happy by themselves. When they both reached the third year landmark; things went horridly awry. The Possession took place; and suddenly, Fade was no longer as close to her friend. He would begin to spend more and more time around her father; encouraging the glassy-eyed ram to strive for a larger and more prosperous herd through acts of fighting and taking land. Fade, on the other hand, became more of a doe and less of a kid. She became increasingly suspicious of her former friend; questioning him on almost all of his actions. Chaos, of course, never responded with the truth.
While the young ram battled his mind; war came up between Fade and her own body. When learning to fight became mandatory, Fade began to realize the truth about herself. The truth that would soon be a full-fledged doe. Unlike the young rams; her horns stayed the same size, and she didn't become any more muscular. When the Prime ordered that skirmisheds begin to take place between Goennecs of the herd and outsiders; Fade found herself staying back at the territory rather than prance off beside the Prince and Chaos. Fade, of course, did not like having her weakness exposed. Her small stature and lack of strength made her good at nothing besides running from fights. It was because of her dislike of being exposed that caused her to grow increasingly wary of the relationship between her father and her friend. She didn't not want the fighting to stop because she was a peaceful creature; but simply becayuse she did not enjoy looking bad. For this reason, Fade began to crack down on her companions.
Though not strong of body, Fade was strong of mind. She became an antagonist; trying to force answers out of others by her words; her suspicions causing her to become increasingly wary of those that she had once treasured most. She became close to the Prince; trusting him more than her own father. More frequently she began to question the Prime on why he listened to such a young ram; but the old Goennec was too dense to see what was right in front of his face. As was the rest of the herd. And so as Fade set off on a crusade to find out the truth of why the herd was becoming what it was, she set off alone.

It was her third Siv, and hopefully the last one that she would be unable to participate in. Below her milled crowds of females, all of which heavy with kids. A harsh light flickered across her golden gaze when she laid her eyes upon a certain group of females, eight, to be exact. They were the Prince's harem this year, and a very large one compared to the others. Fade flicked her tail angrily, wincing when it became stuck in the branches of the buc=sh theat she crouched under. Though it was a juvinile act, Fade did not want to be seen at this time.
Let them all think that I went to go fight with some of the outsiders. If the herd's main strategy was that of fleeing; Fade would have made an excellent fighter. Unfortunately, that was not the case. So now, she hid, embarassed by her lack of strength; eyeing the Prince's harem does with frustration. She, of course, was too young to carry a kid; though she had long since promised herself that she would bear the Prince many, many offspring. Where Chaos had failed her through his lies, the Prince had remained at her side as a friend. With a small huff, Fade twisted her head, untangling her mane from the prickly branches. She hated being seen as weak. She hated Chaos' lies. She hated her father's stupidity. She hated the fighting.
What don't
I hate? The Prince, she liked the the Prince. His sense of humor, his strength and physical looks, his ability to defend her. But most of all; his willingness to see past her prickly side and into the shining, spirit that lay beneath. Why couldn't Chaos be the same? There was something amiss with him,
that she knew. What could be so terrible that he wouldn't tell her?
The bleat of a ram brought the little gray female out of her daydreaming. Fade quickly scrambled out from under the bush; and flickered her tail happily when she saw several of the rams, including Chaos and the Prince, returning. She quickly raced down the small grassy slope; her golden eyes glimmering as she dashed towards her friends. The Prince turned his gaze in her direction and smiled; then proceded to trot towards her. WHen he continued to walk, however, passing Fade, the little female felt her heart lurch. Laying her ears back, she turned away from the ram nuzzling his does.
"Hello."
Why me?"Chaos." No one like him would be getting anything more of a greeting out of her.
The young ram's smile quickly faded at her coldness, and his green eyes darkened.
"Why must you be so stoic?"
"Why must you be so secretive?" Her voice was little more than a low hiss as she quickly responded, her eyes glimmering with annoyance.
Chaos lurched back at this, hurt shining in his eyes."I have to go see the Prime." He left quickly, his tail hanging low.
Fade expected to feel the usual sense of victory wash over her; but all she felt was an extreme pang of lonliness. The Prince was off with his does, and Chaos was off with the Prime.
Fade sighed quietly; and turned, retreating back up to her bush. At least when she was the under the bush no one could see how alone she was.
