Welcome to Teuthida Adopts. The one and only place to get cute, unique Squidlets for you to adopt and enjoy. These precious lovelies are owned by Chry, and stealing from her will result in a severe punishment. The lines were created by the very talented beloved. and Chry.

Rules

• Do not steal Teuthida Lines or Modify them in any way
• Do not take these adopts off CS. They are for CS signatures/Char threads ONLY . . . Any theft will be dealt with extremely harshly. . .
• You cannot use Teuthida Adopts as RP characters outside of the Official RP.
• Any edited forms will be ignored.
• Do not remove the link back here unless you have more than one Teuthida in your signature. If you have more than one, then only one Teuthida may link back (Only for Signatures. Do not remove the links if posting in Character Threads)
• Do not claim Teuthida as your own.
• Teuthida Adopts are adopted out for free. It is a Privilege to adopt here, not a right.
• You can only have 3 growing Teuthida at a time, and you can only adopt once a day.
• If you receive 3 warnings, you are put on the Banned list and your Teuthida will be taken away. You will also be banned from posting in this thread and you will not be able to adopt from here ever again.
• I reserve the right to refuse adoptions to anyone for any reason

[Chry]

Teuthida are tricky little creatures, normally no bigger than your thumbnail. These squidlets like to live in the warm tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef. They feed off of seaweed, plankton, algae and in some rare cases, they have been known to pick at the flesh of decaying fish. Being so small makes them an easy target for predators. But because of the over fishing crisis in the oceans, there are less predators and the Teuthida population has exploded, and so has the boom in keeping them as pets. As Teuthida are hermaphroditic, there is a simple way to change their genders. Adding warmer water to the Teuthida's environment when its in its egg stage will change the Teuthida's gender to female, but adding colder water at the same stage will result in a Male.

There are currently 5 known species of Teuthida.


The Common Teuthida are boisterous and quite at home in the small tanks humans use to keep them in. They will happily blow bubbles and show off their water acrobatics to their owners. In their adult stage, the Tentacles on their head are used to find a mate. The brighter the colours, the prettier the mate.


The Mermaid Teuthida is a Primadonna. They sleep almost all the time, and are rarely seen without their tentacles bunched up above their heads. Beauty is their number one concern and the prettier they are, the more offspring they can have. The Mermaid Teuthida can take several weeks to hatch from its egg in captivity, it is believed that they stay in the egg for so long that when they hatch, their skin is almost glowing, and they are full grown. These squidlets can sometimes be found in rock pools on the beach, basking in the warmth of the sun. While not an Uncommon mutation, the Mermaid Teuthida are still considered to be difficult to capture.


The Winged Teuthida are very shy and timid. They are hard to capture and keep in captivity as they prefer hiding in dark places, like coral caves and under rocks. It has been seen that a winged Teuthida and a common Teuthida can pro-create. Their offspring normally having a 50/50 chance of being either winged, or common. This sub species is considered to be Rare.


Octoling Teuthida are the bad guys. They are nasty, evil, violent, aggressive and just down right mean. They may be small, but they make up for it by having an extremely venomous bite. The neurotoxin they inject can kill 100 people. Scientists who have studied the Octolings have noticed that they are immune to the sting of the Box Jellyfish, the most venomous creature in the sea. This, in itself, is truly remarkable. The venom of the Octoling courses through its veins and this seems to counteract the effects of the Box Jellyfish toxin. It has been advised by the Australian Government not to keep an Octoling as a pet. They are known to escape their tanks and survive out of water for several hours. Handling of an Octoling should be left to the professionals.


The Naked Teuthida is an extremely rare mutation. Not much is know about them as they are so rare that only 4 have ever been seen in the past 10 years. It has been theorized that the Naked Teuthida has contracted a gene that stops it from growing into its adult stage. The Naked Teuthida does not have any intricate markings and always has Black eyes. None have been seen in captivity . . .

How many Teuthida can I adopt at one time?
1 a day. Be it a baby or a wild Teuthida, only one per person per day.

How long does it take for Teuthida to grow?
From anywhere between 24 Hours and 1 month.

When is the next adoption round?
A round = one litter avaliable to adopt. Rounds can be 5 a day or 1 a week. Depending on when I decide to release them.

I want to help you colour/mod etc.
I ask people to help me. Not the other way around. Please do not ask.

I want a custom!!
Customs are rare. You can get one, but their expensive, and take longer to be coloured than regular litters. Be vigilant, as they will open eventually.

I want to reserve a Teuthida
You cannot reserve a Teuthida.

I've been banned but I want to adopt again
Once you've been banned you cannot get off the list. You will be banned for life.

Would you like to breed your Teuthida?

To breed a Teuthida, you must have a breeding potion, which can be purchased from the Potion Store. First you must fill out this form:

Once you have filled that out and posted, your Teuthida will then be placed in the Breeding Centre. While there, it will find another Teuthida to be paired with. After the courtship, the female will lay her eggs and the male will fertilise them. You will then be given a random egg, as will the owner of the other Teuthida, if it has an owner of course. Please note that you cannot post this form unless breeding spaces are open and available, and only if your Teuthida is full grown.

All of the Teuthida Artists can breed pets in here, whenever they want, and how ever many times they want. If you want your pet removed, you must state so in the thread. If you do not have a breeding potion/Triple Strength Breeding Potion then you will not receive an egg. You can place your Teuthida in here at any stage in their development, but they wont be breed till after they have reached adulthood. No incestuous breedings please.

If you want to choose then there are some obstacles you must first overcome.

• Do you own both Teuthida?
• If no, have you got permission from a different owner? Both you and the partner must post the same form at the same time. So working it out with people before hand works wonders.
• Are both Teuthida of opposite genders?
• Have you purchased a Triple Strength Breeding Potion? Both parties must have a Triple Strength Breeding Potion. You will both get to choose which egg you want, as long as its not the same one
• Is your Teuthida an adult? You cannot breed Teuthida unless they are in their adult stage.
• Do you have room for another Teuthida? As in, have you adopted your limit for the day? or do you have 3 growing Teuthida already? If the answer is yes to this question, you are not eligible to use any Breeding Potions.
• Are their any Breeding spaces open?

Thats ok. You can offer your Teuthida up to be put in the Breeding Center. If you do this though, you will not have a chance to choose an egg, and you will not be able to receive a random egg. To get an egg you will have to wait for the litter to be released and to post as fast as you can . . .
