^^; These questions have been answered on this thread alone about twenty times or more. Please try to use the search function before posting your questions in the future.

The staff felt it was necessary to make the announcement so as not to catch the community off-guard. We felt it would be best if everyone was told head of time so that they could be prepared. As for why the species is closing, as has been answered numerous times, Apple wanted to close the species on a positive note. She wanted to see the species closed with a positive reputation, before anything negative could impact the species.
