sorry. I didn't realize I was 'mini-modding', and I wasn't trying to.
I won't be answering questions again ;_;

Pet's ID Tag: #29.
Name You'd Choose for It: Caio.
Gender: Male.
Reason You Want It: Penguins have a special place in my heart- they've decorated my room almost as much as horses have, and "penguin" is also the nickname my fiance uses for me. Like the rest of my characters, Caio would have a place in my character thread and would get art- but he would also introduce my character thread, and I'd like to get a bust shot of him to go in my signature. If it's okay with Tam, I'd also like to use him as a main character in general.
Personality:
To start off, Caio is wonderfully charismatic and outgoing- and something of a baby face. Perhaps its for this reason that others seem drawn to him, despite not being your run-of-the-mill social butterfly- but whatever the cause, he's rarely seen alone- he certainly has a special "something", though it's not easily pinned down. In his youth, Caio spent the majority of his time with his parents, preferring the security of their warmth and size over the adventures on the ice that so many of his generation were relishing in. He seemed to be the best of both of his mother and father, and seemed to take on very few of either of their negative traits, if any. Obedient and careful to look before he leapt, he was often the source of a great deal of joy and this vibrant personality continued without hampering into his adulthood. Though he is still young as far as adults go, he is in general far more laid-back and less likely to be vociferous and for these reasons among others his company of choice would be that of older adults, closer to his parents age- still, he does receive frequent invitations out to sea by those he used to share a crèche with and as long as it seems like a solid idea, Caio certainly wouldn't turn the opportunity down.
He is also modest. While he wouldn't have much to boast about anyway, the occasional compliment is usually accepted graciously with a smile and returned in full. This combined with his natural soft-spoken and easy-going behavior means that during the times when he becomes irritated, others don't see his witty (or, though less often, snide) quips coming- and come they do, for while he has a long fuse and a short burning time, he can definitely explode. It seems more frightening coming from Caio than others in the flock, most likely because he is smaller than your average male and is so good-natured otherwise. Beware, though- expletives are just as effective when they come from him, if not more. Once you've made Caio mad, it means you've truly crossed a line, for he typically has a very thick layer of patience before it begins to wear thin. Another thing that is thick, however, is his skull- Caio can be irritatingly stubborn, despite his open-minded views and opinions. He will accept others for who they are, but once he has a set belief, its doubtful anyone could change it.
This is most likely because he makes opinions based on education about the subject or the person, not because of something he heard or thought up on a whim. Caio is certainly intelligent, though it's in a somewhat strange way- some concepts that others pick up immediately will be completely lost on him, and some that others find difficult make perfect sense. It seems like it simply depends on the day, or some other ambiguous factor. Running parallel to this intelligence is a sense of ambition- as strange as it sounds for a little penguin, he has always believed that he could turn out better than the majority of the adults, who admittedly are a bit skull-brained and don't always make the best decisions, especially the elders.
Unlike the others his age, Caio doesn't find himself being carried away by emotions or hormones and this could be a significant reason why a great deal of his friends are female: he isn't constantly trying to flirt or manipulate them. Would he like to find a mate? Eventually, yes. But like others of his kind, he sees himself as strictly monogamous and doesn't enjoy the idea of either leading someone on or being lead on for the sake of entertainment.
LIkes:
Swimming: Naturally, of course, Caio greatly enjoys swimming and is a particularly skilled diver among his peers. Though he tends to avoid showboating, swimming is essentially an art to him and his finesse underwater is to be awed at. The ocean is useful to him for more than food.
Squid: Speaking of food, squid is definitely his favorites- fish is far too bland, especially during the colder parts of the year, and it takes a great deal to fill him up, whereas squid has an aftertaste that he loves and tends to be more filling.
Learning: Learning is certainly when he is happiest, and because of this Caio enjoys spending his time around more knowledgeable adults rather than the naive young adults that tend to surround him. He definitely doesn't enjoy the feeling of not understanding or simply "not getting it", but he knows the only way to combat this is by being determined, which he certainly is.
Humans: Though he has only seen them once, they seemed to be decent enough- a handful of them spent several days approaching his flock, but when the humans finally felt that the penguins were safe creatures who could not attack them, they came forward offering gifts of fresh fish and pointing black squares with long noses in his flock's general direction. They stayed for perhaps a day more before leaving again, and he is genuinely excited to see them return- it's not every day you simply get handed a meal.
Dislikes:
Heat: Lucky as he is to live in the arctic, Caio despises the warmth of the sun and gets agitated and grumpy when forced to stand in the heat for too long. During the cold months when the snow is truly terrible, he actually enjoys being on the outside rotation.
Leopard seals: Though he stumbled across what seemed to be a pleasant enough seal pup when he was an adolescent, its mother was most definitely not pleasant and if he hadn't of heard and seen her lumbering towards him from a ways off, he most likely would not be alive today.
The majority of the elders: While normally respectful, some of the elders push his limits. They are mostly bitter and speak too loudly, or speak of things that do not or never have existed and often believe themselves to be infinitely knowledgeable.
History:
I understand that by adopting this creature I take full responsibility for it.
