The cool crisp water enclosed Jerico soon after he hit it. His long powerful legs kicked out bringing his head smoothly to the surface as he swam around in a large circle. His chest rumbled with delight as he swam around he marveled at the changes ahzen had gone through since his last visit. The large lake that surrounded the Vortex was almost as welcoming as His own home by the ocean, almost. With a huge sigh and a few long stokes his paws hit the stoney sand of the bank and he heaved his heavy water logged body from the clear mountain water. He didn't bother to shake himself off, though his fur felt much heavier than normal he always enjoyed the sensation of 'dripping dry' as his companion Callie had put it once.

instead he decided to flop out on the sandy bank and roll over unto his back to gaze once more at the vortex, it had been swirling steadily faster for days now and many were getting worried. when will the next of us appear? he wondered silently to himself. He waited for a while eyes unmoving from the vortex mind lulling over the old memories of his past experiences in Ahzen when he finally got his answer. the vortex exploded suddenly into a flurry of movement and color, much like a fiery tornado it danced around gaining more and more speed. Jerico felt his body shiver slightly as a heat wave rolled over him from the sheer amount of burning energy.

The Ahzeni who burst forth from the inferno sailed across the sand bar with much ease. And as she addressed the crowd he could not help but match her grin. Some friendly competition could be fun. Slowly he rose to this feet and trotted over to Habari, he was not teh first to challenge her, but even though she had faced many opponents she did not show the slightest hint of exhaustion. As her last race came to an end he saw his opening and took a chance at challenging her. "Ello love" his thick Australian like accent was prominent in those two words. "yah is quite a pretty sheila, mind accepting this old bloke's challenge?" he didn't really wait for her to reply but instead turned and crouched low to the ground as if to simulate the human runners starting pose.

His hardened muscles rippled under his still damp fur as he turned his head to look at her dead in the eye. "I'm more suited to mah surfin' and the water than this, but if it is a race yah want then it is a race yah'll get from me sheila. " He gave her a coy smile before launching forward, his challenge had been issued, and it was up to her if she accepted or not. Though he had given himself a head start in their race, he knew that blue eyed beauty could pass him by in an instant.

With a mighty leap that surprised all, a girl watched in awe. Her brown and blue eyes sparkled, she wanted to be able to that one day, but sadly she was only human. She stared down at the little golden lion cub at her feet, had it been a safe idea to bring him as well? He was just as fast as she was, and she wanted to prove her speed.

Her body was lean and muscular and she seemed to carry a sense of everlasting energy. She wasn't much good at anything but running, though she'd had a long time to work on that. She smiled and whispered words of encouragement to her lion, Sacrifice his name was.

She gazed directly up at Habari, wishing for her to watch her performance. Kelly actually believed she had a chance as she knelt, ready and waiting. A bang signalled the beginning of her race. What was she even challenging Habari with? Time? She had no time for thinking as she shot forward, pushing off from the ground and just letting her body take over. It knew these movements, done so many times before that she didn't even have to think.

The world appeared to slow down as she ran, her heart beating wearily in her chest. Perfect breaths, one after the other. It was timing, it was the way she arched her arms. It was that fact that her lungs had expanded enough to run for long distances. That speed was what lead her so close to the finish already, a smile reached her lips.

She hadn't seen Sacrifice since she'd started, the thought crept into her empty mind and she just couldn't contain it. Her head turned to see him far behind her and then he tripped. His paws flew from the ground, tangling up as he hit the ground with a thump. She gasped and knew it would be difficult to stop. She didn't want to lose this moment, this time to finish and be a champion. But she didn't want to cross the line without Sacrifice, the little lion.

She swerved, turning herself around and slowing her pace as she came to the collapsed lion. She picked him up in her olive toned arms and snuggled him close. He was dazzled for a moment, until he finally had the chance to speak. "T-the race?" he questioned her. She had given it up for him. For though she wished to woo Habari she wasn't going to stop caring for her other animals.

"I wanted to help you," she spoke, not bothering to whisper. Let others hear. "Why?" Sacri asked, still confused. Kelly picked him up and walked across the finish line with him in her arms.

"Because it's better to have a golden heart than be a golden athlete."

Maxum's large, bright yellow eyes looked around somberly as he once more entered the place of the Ahzenai vortex. It had been a long while since the strange creature had stepped his hooved feet on the sand and grass that made the area around the vortex so comforting for companion seekers. As he stood, his tail lashing about boldly and his fingers circling around a small tennis ball the Furnicorn male watched the spinning vortex with keen interest, his other hand moving to play with the rip in the shoulder of his garment. When the vortex flashed and released a very high energy Ahz the creature could almost not stop himself from the impulsive step forward his body permitted him.

Where as the first time he had visited it was the Ahzenai's shy and relaxed nature that had drawn him to the other this time his heart and soul caught on fire with the excitement and energy this new companion offered. When her name was spoken and her challenge issued Maxum grinned wickedly to himself, his long black tail curling around his legs as he walked, the small yellow tennis ball being moved to hover over his shoulder and the etchings in his skin and eyes starting to glow faintly with his excitement. In long strides he waited bitterly patient for a chance to meet this Ahz for himself, to hear her voice strong and near and to level his eyes to her and meet her challenge.

Finally able to step up for himself, Maxum leveled his gaze to Habari's and gave a wicked grin. "You wish for a race my dear? Well it is a race you shall recieve, I must warn you though, I won't go easy on you just because you are a girl." He spoke with a calm and cool tone, as though he had done this a thousand times, and perhaps he had, perhaps he had never raced before it did not matter for that is what he was doing at that moment. Maxum lived in a constant state like so, never knowing what he had or hadn't do, what he would or wouldn't be doing that day. he was an adventure and certainly one with enough energy to keep up with Habari if she chose him as companion.

{I realize this may be a bit late but I hope you will concider allowing it to enter as there are only two others for her and I just saw her <3}
