Cottonwood Ranch Jousting Tournament Horse #1

Postby ImmyWimmy1 » Thu Oct 17, 2013 11:39 am

Well, here he is! He's a Blue Roan Maximum Splash. His colours seem to be Indigo and White, with his symbol being that of the Prancing Unicorn. At the stables where he was trained, it is thought that the Unicorn will give him grace and elegance.

Personality
Abhay is a strong horse, can be stubborn sometimes, but he has an iron will and the potential to reach his upper limits. Actually he is caring for his human and listens well to commands from the rider. If you still have a problem with him, try it with kiwis or oranges. He loves those fruites like they are everything his life consists of. Depending on his mood, he allows little children around him, but he sometimes gets annoyed by their noises, because he can't stand shrieking, yes, he hates pigs, too.
Abhay is great with other horses, dogs and cats and very social to them. Two of the barn cats are sleeping in his stable and the grooms do think that he likes the purring of them. Abhay is excellent under saddle and he loves to run. As soon as he feels the tack, he knows that the audience is waiting for him. He loves to get attention and he stays calm when his rider is full of adrenalin. At the end of the jousting tournament show, he is most likely the one to be mounted by the "won princess". Abhay can be easily handled by women, too.

History
Abhay was born for the show circuit. As a foal he always pranced around in front of his mother, trying to get her attention, same with his breeders and early handlers. He never hurt a fly, but for sure he would be a nice and brave mount in his later life.
When he went two years old a man, from a famous medieval tournament show, visited Abhay's breeder. He showed many horses to that man, but he always turned down his offers, till they came to Abhay. He rounded his neck and held his tail like a flag in the wind. The show man wanted to buy Abhay, but his breeder shook his head. They had an argument before Abhay's breeder finally agreed to sell him. His original intention was to keep Abhay as a stud, but maybe he would do better as a show horse.

The horses at the show were professionally trained, trained like their ancestors thousands of years before them. Abhay had talent as jousting horse, but when he began his career, he only had some less important appearances. His big chance came up to him when the most important horse, the mount of the "golden knight", was injured badly during the transport. Abhay took over the role and awaited the show with excitement. He was great and granted the "golden knight" success over all challengers. The "princess" came to Abhay and kissed his snout before the knight pulled her carefully onto his horse and made his victory lap. From that day on, Abhay was mounted by the golden knight for every single show, always brave, always concentrated and always amazed by the audience.

But it was fate. It was the final show before they would have the winter break. Abhay was a bit tired of the stressful journeys he had, and his rider, the "golden knight" or Andrew as his name was, also focused on the deserved break. Still they were good and only lost once that day, out of five rides. The sixth one would be the last, but the rider was new to the team and got the instruction to fall off, because he wasn't that good yet. Andrew and Abhay started, their challengers did it too, but when they met in the middle, the new challenger didn't fell, but hit his lance, accidently against Abhay's chest. The lance broke when it hit the breastplate, but Abhay was in pain and fell himself. Andrew landed safely, luckily not injured himself. Abhay got up again and his rider managed to calm him down. The immediatly called vet couldn't find any injuries, but Abhay wasn't physically hurt. The stallion was hurt mentally. In the next months he refused to go near the training equipment and he refused to wear the show-tack - making him unavailable for the start of the new show year. Andrew, the "golden knight" had to mount another horse, but that coulnd't replace Abhay.

The young woman who played the "princess" in the show, known as Valerie, started to work with Abhay. She was the trainer for the young horses and had some experience with scared ones as well. It was a slow process and it took Valerie almost one year to make Abhay trust again, but he finally allowed the hole show around him again. Andrew could start the training with the lance and succesfully got his champion back.

Abhay is still a well known horse actor in the show, and loved by the team and the audience. If he isn't the winner, he is a fair defeated one and he is never disappointed by his performance. He is a proud stallion, a good one.

What drew you to him?
That he is perfect? {:3} I adore this horse, I adore blue roans and I just love that blanket! The hole picture is perfect, everything matches well with the rest and he is just so WOW! I can't even really describe why, but I feel connected to him. If I really want to adopt something, I can feel a connection to it and I can absolutely feel this connection to Abhay. I could twaddle even more here, but I think I just keep it this way.

Other
A tournament show from Abhay's point of view
I was able to hear Andrew's heart as it jumped against his chest. It was like this every single time. He was always nervous and I was the one who calmed him down. I don't want to appeal conceited, because I am not. I'm just a brave one. I am calm when I feel the heavy equipment and his armour on my back. I know what could happen, but I once learned that it won't kill me. I learned to trust Andrew. Snorting I started to trot into my postion at the left side of the small, ridiculous fence. I could easily trample that thing, but I've never done it. The sudden movement of Andrew, giving me the signal to start, never makes me nervous.
With wide galopp strides I reach the middle where it is decided who will be defeated. It is always interesting when the black knight and the golden knight ride against each other. The black knight's name is Marc. He is a nice guy, very funny usually, but he is really good as the bad guy in the show. The horse he's riding isn't just as good as him. It is a gelding called Negro, but he never listens that well. Andrew's lance hit Marc's shield perfectly and our opponent landed on the ground with a loud thud. The audience applauded and Andrew praised me.
Just a normal day at the show. My daily life.

I come onto CS maybe once in a blue moon? So don't expect fast replies.
Pretty inactive nowadays as travelling the world keeps me pretty busy, but I'm here now and again for a yarn or even if you want a few pets? Feel free to make a one sided offer, although I retain my right to refuse or edit a trade if there is something I'd want to hold on to for memories sake.

Show Name: Ice Candle
Barn Name: Ice
Age: 12 years
Gender: Stallion
Breed: Kinsky Horse
Colouration: Blue Roan Maximum Splash
Personality: Ice is a tough horse to control since he only follows orders to his master and tries to buck off any unknown riders. He can gallop at high speeds and is agile on tough terrain.
History: Ice lived in a small village by a mountain range. He lived a happy life as a colt with a kind mother and merry villagers. But one day, the town was attacked by a mountain tribe. Houses were burned and all the animals and people were slaughtered except for the one foal that managed to run away during the commotion. Ice turned back to look at his village for the last time before darting to the nearest home a few miles away.
He finally arrived at a large castle built on rocky, cold land. Ice appeared as a tired, weak, and battle-scarred horse that was useless to the Lord and knights at the manor, but inside, he was a strong and powerful stallion. A page named Leo gladly offered to take care of him though.
As Ice Candle grew, so did Leo, who was now a squire. On a cold winter night, a blizzard ravaged the castle and Leo brought Ice inside his home for protection. Since the only light was a small wax candle, Leo named the strong-hearted yearling Ice Candle.
As the years flew by, Leo became a knight at last and Ice was his horse. The Lord of the castle was pleased with Leos work and sent him to joust at an upcoming fair. The knight grabbed a bright blue blanket and gentle placed it on the horse. The knight and Lord began their journey to the fair with other knights, squires, and townsfolk following close behind them.

What drew you to him?: I think that a dapple coat and blue cloth go great together.
Other: Hope this is a sufficient history.

You might want to re-think the breed. As far as my research has led me, Kinsky horses can only come solid colours, often with the crean dilutions. Black is very rare and roans and paints are unheard of within the breed. Sadly I can't judge this form if it's technically inaccurate! ^^"

WIP

Owner;; Coloré

Show Name;; Swift Shadow of the Night
Chosen because of the grace and elegance
of the unicorn and his dark colours.

Barn Name;; Shade
Kinda taken off from his show name.
Representing his darker colours

Age;; Six Years

Gender;; Stallion

Breed;; American Paint Horse

Coloration;; Blue Roan Maximum Splash

Personality;; As the unicorn represents,
he is graceful and elegant.
He is usually a kind horse, but not when he is
scared. He has a good temperament and is
always trying his best, but finds some way to
have fun. He is protective over ones he loves,
determined, confident, playful and many
other things, but that should give you a good
idea about him.^-^

History;; Well, it started will a small family
with one little girl. The girl owned a beautiful
mare who she called Mistress, who wandered
the little area of which they owned. Another
family lived nearby and they owned a lot of
land, and one day they offered to let Mistress
graze off their grass, as she didn't have much
to eat. They accepted the offer and the girl
would go and play with Mistress at their house,
along with their other horse. A while after, their
grass finally grew and Mistress returned to their
yard. The family didn't know what was wrong
with her and guessed that she missed the other
horse, but they soon realised that she was
pregnant and later on, she foaled a colt. The
colt grew big and strong, but the family was
getting poor, so they put the colt up for sale
and he was soon sold to an old lady who claimed
that she was going to use him as a present for
her sick granddaughter. The lady was kind to him,
and taught him patience, but then she took him
to her granddaughter. He was abused and starving
at his new home and one day as the girl yelling
at him when she fell to the ground. The next day,
the girls parents left and the lady returned and
took him home. After a long while of peace, a
man came and took him to a place where he
was trained. He was and still is put through
some hard work, but is occasionally returned
to the lady.

What Drew Me To Him;; Quite a few things...
1.) Mixture of colours. As soon as I visited the
Jousting Tournament page and saw his coat and
tack colour, I pretty much melted. It's such a
great colour for his coat!
2.) His face. At first I saw the markings, then
I saw the eyes. He has such a sweet face, but
pretty much any horse with blue or green eyes
draws me in. It fits his markings and colours
perfectly.
3.) The tack. The unicorns and the colour
makes him! I love it so much and think you
chose the right colour and symbol for this boy!
Just a question, will there be a colour in of
him without tack?

Personality: takes time for him to trust strangers as he had a bad history.once you get to know him he is a friend for life.
History: born in a breeding farm he was taken from his mother at 1 month old so he is quite temperamental. The people of the breeding farm abandoned him and he was found. He was covered in rubbish and scratches when they found him caught in barbed wire. He put up a fight as they took him to the vet. Because of his injuries he would never be a show pony and his attitude was bad for dressage they trained him to joust for fun. He is now after years of training the best horse at the place and has never lost no matter how good the rider.
