I do a bank system in my own shop because I hate having payment wait there and wait there as I slowly work through my art, and I keep all the names public so that they know I havent forgotten about them. If something comes up I warn everyone that hey this happened I cant even think of working on commissions currently. That and some think I'm dirt cheep so its less of a loss then in other shops lol

How do you feel about art trades?
Love them! But I always feel like I come up on top espesially when the artist comes to me about the trade lol. Though with Art Trades I do my best to make them perfect

Lark: Ive had the same happen to me though the pay was USD. I would say its been 2 months cancel it for now. Seeing as they havnt been on DA in all that time theres a good chance they are going through something and when they are back they may be relieved they have 1 less commission to do, or they will most likely be understanding of you and will be willing to negotiate another payment

A lot of artists require up-front payment to prevent being cheated into doing free art c:
On CS, I always let the trade sit and only accept when I'm finished. I do, however, require that the trade is ready for me to accept so that people can't withdraw it as soon as receiving their art. In regards to USD commissions, I require payment before starting on the piece. People are more prone to never sending real money payment, so generally this method is for the artist's safety. We have to make a living, too! The best way to prevent yourself waiting for months on end is to find an artist who is good at always completing what they owe. Look for a 'commission's list' or something similar so you can tell they keep track of and work on their art at a steady rate. And that's all the input I have on this x'D
