It's Ranger's Apprentice, by the way.
Ranger's Apprentice is a pretty good book, though I'd advise you to keep in mind they started as simple stories for the author's kid, and, well, that fact becomes more and more apparent as time goes on.
In spite of the length of the books and the implication that they're YA, I would consider the series to be a children's series rather than YA as it carefully avoids ever bringing up any serious issues in a meaningful way, has black and white morality, and even when things should take a turn for the darker it continues to be strangely lighthearted. Also, the plot of every book has been done a few hundred times before.
They're enjoyable, but you should probably lower your expectations. They're probably the most generic medieval fantasy series ever written, though the writing is engaging and fun.
