Necessary Specs:
Goennec Pen #: 8

Description of Setting: Ileland is formed by the beautiful rivers that sweep and swerve through the landscape. The fertile soil around the rivers create ideal land for cassava, bulrushes, and rice to grow while the rest of the land is covered by tall grasses and wheats.
History:
Iya always said I was her divine child. She had told me that she was infertile, unable to have kids to love and care for, and instead could only be the herd's caretaker. She had prayed to the God of the River and the Goddess of the Harvest so she may be blessed with the fertility of plants and the snaking water, and the divine pair listened to her pleads and granted her the gift of a child. A daughter. Her Abeni.

The day of my birth, Baba and Iya had wrapped themselves around my small, shaking frame. They licked me and warmed my body to help their Abeni survive. They knew that even if Odo and Ikore had gifted me with life, Ina and Omi could still take my soul. Odo and Ikore were patient and kind, they guarded the plentiful nature while Ina and Omi, the merciless gods, could take it all away.

But I survived, and boy were my parents happy. They had called together the entire herd on my fifth month of age, and they smiled and pushed my mane from my eyes and looked back at my parents with pride. Iya Nla, the Prime's mother or as the herd formally called her, Grandmother, was the last to visit. She looked me up and down with her stern face, looked back at Iya with such a look I couldn't even describe. "This Abeni, she has glint in eye. She grow up strong and determined. Gods smile." She smiled, her stern face turning soft. "Oju, is blessed name. Abeni Oju." She bowed her head to Iya and walked with a slow gait away back into her den.

The blessed name never means much to the Goennec until it is an adult. But to the parents it was always big deal. Iya said it showed the true colours of a child, how long they live, boring things like that. Oju, meaning "the eye", always said the God's respected the child or that they'd live forever... I can't really remember. It's silly, trivial adult matters. If I'm gonna die, I'd rather not know when to expect it to happen. I'll die when my body is ready to, not when some silly name says so.

Two months ago was my birthday, and the beginning of the new year. I was the last one of the breeding season to be born last year, therefore my birthday was the last. It was strange seeing my fellow kids all in one place celebrating a silly thing like a birth. Though if my Iya ever heard me say that, she'd serve my head as dessert.

That day was also the first time I had seen a lion, a big brute of an animal. She was 4 or 5 feet taller than I was, her dark amber eyes had a stare in them that caused even the Prime to shiver. "Orunje," The lioness said, in the traditional language of our herd. "I could feast on you all but I bring Mercy." The herd still gave her a hard look, not believing in the trickery of lions and being insulted by being called "food". "Why would a kind and loving animal as myself harm a herd on their beloved New Year's Day?" She said, a cold look still in her eyes.

She settled down, tucking her long tail around her. "Now, onto what I want." The Prime looked at her carefully, his eyes asking questions. "Ah! So you orunje have minds!" She said, with a slight smile, "Call me Ina, and I'm here to take the god child."

Silence.

Utter Chaos began.

Most of the herd yelled. Many thrashed or cursed blasphemy onto the fire Goddess who's curling smile brightened as she watched the damages. Two cried.

Iya and Baba pressed their faces into the other's manes, attempting to escape from the bad dream that would never end. But it would end, and did end.

"Kidding." Ina said, with a sly grin. "But the Gods demand something from her." Before anyone raised a question, she added. "You may either give up the child, thus freeing your herd from dangers including natural ones. The Gods will shine their faces and you will only die when the soul is ready. Or you give me permission to break her hind leg, where for every crack in the bone, a fire will start in your homeland." She watched the terror in the Goennec's eyes with a smile. "Give up the child and live peaceful forever, or Keep the child and be in fate's hands, your choice."

"You have a week to decide." Ina said, getting back to her feet. "I will return with Glory or Flames, be prepared." The lioness vanished in a rustle of grass and a thick black fog.

Goennec Pen #: 5
Name:
Born with the name Nakhti (by which I refer to her), though is also called Titaia
How would you use him/her:
I would certainly use her in the roleplay, but not for breeding. She'd be more a... Well I can't think of the right wording, headmate?
I'd also use her as art practice. Unfortunately, this means that, like Threonine, I'd probably torture love her to death through doodles in the journey towards artistic satisfaction. XD
She would, of course, have a spot in my character thread and a big part in my personal little epic.
(eventually, when I finally figure out how to make a halfway decent character site, I'll be sure to put up little chapters in the series)
Define your Goennec:

Personality-
Nakhti is an endlessly curious goennec. Her curiousity often led her into trouble as a kid, and into adulthood that changed to more greedy intent.
She cares for her friends, but only to a limited degree. She would gladly let them die to save herself, but dreams of being a powerful Prime, one who could fight off any danger that dared come near. She's never met a female Prime, but has heard stories about the rare and mighty females who reached that position.
Most of her personality is hard to describe, it depends on many factors. But there's one thing she's sworn never to be, a flirty female. Nakhti wants to proove herself to be just as strong as a ram, and perhaps some day she will.

In The Beginning
(A summary of why she is the way she is)

Our world is so strange, so beautiful. I think we often take it for granted. I don't now, I don't take anything for granted. From the tiniest blade of grass to the tallest tree. I must capture it all, before I am whisked away, before I forget how to remember, how to think. An empty soul, trapped in the body I used to own, but no longer.

Even so I never wish to go back, to stop myself from making one little decision. I soak up the power greedily, hungrily even. It's addicting, I need it, and the rush I get is purely irreplaceable. I need it now, not to take it, but to feed off of it. I somehow manage to stay cheerful though, be it this that ends up killing me or something else. Unfortunate, some would say. But I like to think of myself as lucky just to be alive.
~~~~~~
Nakhti was born, as is usual, a single child. From the moment her mother nuzzled and began to nurse the tiny female in a dark hole deep below the ground, a bond was formed. Her mother sensed in her a deeper curiosity, and that the mind of this kid was naturally quick and efficient. There was something else too, but as a mother working hard just to raise her young and keep them both alive, she didn't dwell on it and soon forgot entirely.
Her father had been a male who's harem her mother had joined. Nakhti never learned the ram's name, though compairing herself to her mother it could be concluded that his body was covered in black stripes. No tragedy that she knew of had befallen him, but before her mother had birthed her kid, the ram had moved on to bigger and better things, joining a herd while the doe had chosen to remain in the hot grassy plains where she had always lived. So it was there that Nakhti was weaned and raised, quick to learn but free to frolick since, though water was scarce in the summer, predators were few. The occasional stonechaser was a threat, but most were uninterested in eating something that would make noise if startled, and any smili that happened to be around were always too lazy to get up and chase a goennec, preferring to lay and wait for an old or sick animal.
As a properly raised doe, her mother was constantly trying to control her daughter's playful attitude. Nakhti liked to run off and be naughty for fun, trying to outsmart her mother and play tricks, like scatter-dust and burr-fur. But she was never very fast, often clumsy in running away and always got caught, usually being landed a sharp nip to the rump by her parenting figure. It never deterred her strong spirit, and while generally well behaved, these lessons were neither few or spaced out. Though she seemed to posess no unusual qualities or talents, growing up without same-aged play mates, the young goennec galloped and laughed through her youth quite carelessly.
Dispite being extremely energetic and hard to control, there was one trick that her mother discovered that could keep young Nakhti quiet and in awe for hours. One story was enough to transport her into a world of dreams, she felt as if she were really there when her mother told them, and she loved them. There was one story in particular that she loved the most, and that was the story of Heron the Prime and King Smalltooth.
Heron was a huge ram who had the colors and design of a great blue heron. He was one of the first and mightiest Primes to ever rule a herd of over fifty goennecs. It was even said that he was the son of the great white fire, and under it's full night light he would turn to pure silver.
Dispite being such a mighty ruler, Heron had a big problem. King Smalltooth of the bears was always stealing his very best does and killing his soldiers, always catching them unaware. It seemed that no matter how many watchers there were, King Smalltooth's people always managed to get around some how and steal more does. There appeared to be nothing Heron could do about it.
One day, when three does had been stolen, and one soldier who had given his life to protect them killed, Heron decided he'd had enough of King Smalltooth's cruel tricks. So he decided to set a trap, so he and Prince Tumbleweed worked nonstop for three long days and nights, setting the trap as best they could. When they were finished, Heron told Prince Tumbleweed to sit and guard the trap, and to move only when the word, "run" was spoken.
The next morning, Heron set off alone and brought himself before the bears. They were nearly 5 times his size, and King Smalltooth probably could have killed him with one pawswipe if he'd wanted to, but Heron was not afraid. "Oh great King Smalltooth!" He cried out, bowing down, "I have come to you to beg for mercy! So many of my peope have died, and the rest are plagued with constant fear. Please have mercy, spare my people."
"Why should I do that? I am bigger and more powerful that you, I can do anything I want." King Smalltooth bragged, sitting high on his haunches for extra effect.
"Perhaps we can comprimise, strike a deal?" Heron offered, "I will let you and three of your strongest soldiers into my territory. We will feed you our best mellons and berries, make you a bed made of pure night light, and when you wish to return to your fellows, you may carry back as many of our does as you and your soldiers can carry. But you must agree to leave us in peace once you are gone."
King Smalltooth listened and his eyes brightened at Heron's offer. He laughed to himself, thinking Heron a fool. "Very well Heron, I will take your offer." He agreed, breaking promises was no great feat for a bear.
And so, King Smalltooth and his three strongest soldiers followed Heron towards the herd. But before they had reached it, they came across Tumbleweed, who was standing stubbornly in their way.
"Prince Tumbleweed, why do you not move for your Prime and our guests?" Heron asked, "Will you not stand by out of respect for a mighty King?"
"I will not move." Tumbleweed responded, "I would rather die than allow these fat beasts near the herd."
King Smalltooth and the three soldiers were beginning to drool hopefully. Prince Tumbleweed would be a magnificent prize to take back to the other bears, he had alluded capture many times, they would hang his pelt proudly from a tree for all to see if he would really stand and try to fight.
"Very well." Heron stepped out of the way so that the bears had a clear shot at Tumbleweed, "I will let them kill you, since you will not run."
Hearing the command, Tumbleweed immediately spun around and began to run, but not nearly as fast as his normal speed.
"Ah the fool!" King Smalltooth laughed, "We shall surely kill him this time!" He and the others ran after Tumbleweed, catching up fast. Soon they came to a patch of dry grasses scattered along the ground. Tumbleweed took a great bound and leaped clear of them, but the bears could not jump, and followed on all fours. The moment their great paws smashed down on the grasses, the ground crumbled from beneith them, and the three soldiers fell down the endless pit which Heron and Tumbleweed had spent days digging. The walls were too smooth and steep for any bear to climb back up, but King Smalltooth still held onto the edge with one paw. "Heron, please help me!" He begged, his hold slipping.
"Why should I do that?" Heron asked, "I may be smaller, but I am now more powerful than you. I can do anything I want." And with that, he stomped King Smalltooth's paw three times with stealy hooves, and the bear king fell with a great roar, never to be seen again.
Nakhti loved the story, and the idea of going on wild adventures to proove that goennecs were the best of species, even more so that the dreaded bears.
It was perhaps this that led her to wonder further and further from her mother, grazing on various weeds and dry grasses as she neared a rare shady tree close to an indentation in the earth that filled with water in the spring and sometimes fall. There she would sit and try to catch the occasional seed scruffer (mouse), and there she was attacked by an unexpected predator. At about seven white fires (months) old, she had done everything her mother told her a young doe should do to conceal herself when not in the presence of others. She lay close to the ground, mostly hidden in the grass as her sandy colored pelt blended with the earth. Maybe it was the black mane that gave her away. While she stayed still, waiting for a seed scruffer to come close enough that she could kill it, her black mane stuck out like a sparkle bird (butterfly) on a rock.
And so it was that a rogue, deomonic stonechaser stumbled upon the apatite eyed doe. She was laying in the grass, singing quietly ancient songs about the wind on the plains and the beginning of the earth. Foolishly ignorant, she payed no heed to the tingling in her mind that tried to warn her of danger. So lost in a world of dreams, it was not until the creature walked around and sat a few whole lengths in front of her that she even acknowledged it's existance. By this point it was too late to hide better and there was nowhere to run, her mother was off somewhere else, probably enjoying a bit of quiet while her daughter explored. Caught, she stood up and bowed her head to the predator, hoping that perhaps it would be amused by her bravery and spare her. Indeed it was amused, if not confused, at finding a smaller animal that did not run in a futile attempt to escape. It paused, and opened it's mouth in a sinister smile, blood from a recent kill still smeared on it's teeth, and more gushed from it's mouth as it gave a choking heave, keeping it's eyes trained on the increasingly horrified Nahkti. For all she knew, it was infected with some bizarre and horrible disease. In truth, it was a demon, one that constantly bled from the inside. If only she had run when she had the chance. The stonechaser soon lunged forward, catching her with one claw and pushing her punishingly hard into the ground.
The young doe let out an angry yell and attempted to turn and bite it, to no avail. It's head loomed above her, dribbling blood onto her shoulder as she lay pinned but struggling. This time, however, it spoke. "How interesting. I think I may have some use for you. You'd make a lovely toy, a plaything to keep me occupied in my endlessly boring life. I have power you wouldn't believe, though I'm sure there are a few who could match me of your kind. Devine demons, I should say." The demon stonechaser laughed, curling it's claws around her side. "You would like to live?"
"Yes." Trapped by a strange fascination, Nahkti spoke in a drone like voice. "Gooood." The demon purred, and it's grip strengthened, one claw piercing through skin, ribs, and further. Nahkti couldn't even shriek in pain, it all happened too fast.
The demon stonechaser removed it's claw and dissapeared, it's develishly bright eyes burning in her vision. She lay on her side, in a state of animated suspension for five long white fires. During this time she aged and and changed. While her mother, devistated by what she thought was the dead body of her child, wondered off to find a herd somewhere out in the plains. While she lay, unconscious of everything on the outside, her mind was still working, and passion leaked into her system. Not a passion for mating, but one for a devine life. Danger became somewhat of a need, there was a deep knowledge that no harm could come to her, so she let go. And then, the new Nahkti awoke, an adult, controlled, sinister Nahkti, under the powerful control of her internally parasitic captor. She still had her memories, and her clever mind had only been enhansed, but much of her personality was changed, and she had control of her own body only to a limited degree. Her eyes would darken when the foreign power strengthened and pushed her a little further out of control.
She began to travel, and soon found a herd where she could almost live a normal life. But it wasn't meant to be, and so her life continued to take turns, but ones filled with bizarre adventures centered around some rather unusual animals. A Prince, two peasants, and a loner. To capture them in her world, be it hell or heaven became the ultimate goal.
She will lead them to the burning, the glorious, the treacherous, the burning.
(note: Yes, I'm aware that her ears are floppy, but they're pulled back from the force of jumping (and I had a drawing 'oopsie' X3))
Goennec Pen#: 6
Name: Cloudburst
How would you use [strike]him/her: I'd definitely get art of her and put her in my character thread. I'd also like to try to sneak into the goennec RP with her... x3 I love her design, the purple-ish blue eyes definitely caught my attention and her luxurious mane. <3
Define your Goennec:
Likes:
*Drizzles - Not to be mistaken with heavy rain, she hates the way that water plasters her fur down. Cloudburst enjoys soft rain or drizzles, she thinks it's relaxing and reminds her of her mother.
*Fragrant Flowers - Cloudburst is very appreciative of attractive smells and beauty. She believes the flowers were put on earth just to be looked at and smelled, therefore, she doesn't eat many flowers. They also remind her of her old rainforest home. Her favorite flower is the Pelican Flower.
*Heights - Cloudburst likes to stand on top of high mountains, cliffs or climbing up trees. She likes to look over the earth and enjoy all of the beauties that it has to offer. She especially likes it when there's a breeze and it blows her mane back, it makes her feel powerful and regal.
*Very Lush Places - Hard or rough terrain hurts her paw-pads, having all paws rather than tolerant hooves. She loves the smells of the vegetation and the cushion they put on her pads.
*The Smell Before It Rains - The fragrant oils that plants release before it rains are very pleasing to the nose. Cloudburst likes to think that she enjoys it especially.
*Birds - She thinks they're beautiful animals and loves the way they sing. She enjoys just hiding in the bushes and watching them.
Dislikes:
*Wild Boars - They especially scare her, especially after what one did to her and her brother.
*Restricting or Small Spaces - Cloudburst hates small places or being held down. She doesn't like to be controlled.
*Being Thirsty - Cloudburst hates being thirsty even more than being hungry. She doesn't like the feeling of a dry throat.
*Her Friends or Loved Ones Being Sick or Injured - She feels utterly helpless and doesn't like seeing them in pain.
Personality:
Cloudburst is a rather proud goennec, aware of her great agility and stamina. She's often caught daydreaming, however, and her daydreams absorb her so that she doesn't know what's happening outside of her own little world. She loves to push herself to her limits, often challenging others to races or climbing contests. Having all paws, she's better than climbing than others with hooves. Cloudburst loves to sit and relax after a hard run or workout. She also loves to swim. Cloudburst can be a bit hasty and she's pretty impatient, though, she's a real sweetheart. Although she can be a bit brash, she's a rather lovable goennec and enjoys the simple things in life like the sunset.
Story:
"My name is Cloudburst and I'm a goennec with all paws. My mother named me that because she said that it looks like a cloud exploded and scattered all over my deep, brown pelt. I also used to live in the rainforest with my family. Cloudburst is another word for rain... How did I end up here? And all alone? Well... let me tell you..."
Goennec Pen #: 6
Name: Tapir (Love the name, so I'm gonna keep it ^^ <3 )
How would you use him/her: She would be used as one of my charries and put in my charrie thread with my others ^^ She'd get art as well, maybe even a story if I get the chance ^^
Define your Goennec:
~Age~
1 year and two months.
~Personality~
Tapir is the shy girl type, and is really sweet and quiet. She doesn't usually speak to males much, and if she speaks even to a female like her, she'd have to know her very well. Normally she just romes the land, enjoying the birdsong that fills the air around her. Sometimes she'll be a little spontanious, but that rarely happens.
~History/Story~
Prologue
"Baby, you have to stay here, okay Mommy has to leave but il find you again someday, I promise." The urgent, suffering voice of a mother goennec spoke to her child while tears trickled down her cheeks. Within seconds she was gone, out of sight, leaving the young one to fend for himself, as a deep black shadow stalked forward and loomed over him, paw outstreched and claws unsheathed...
In the eyes of the Beauty, Tapir...
My eyes opened for the very first time today, and the world seems really wierd and big. I noticed how bad my head hurt, causing me to whimper in pain. Too many voices were chattering around me, so many that it was hard to make out what any of them were saying, but it was something about three Goennecs named Tapir, Morali, and Fero.
I felt my mothers warm, comforting body against mine, as well as two more. Still whimperng at the throbbing pain in my head, I felt the breathing around me steady. It must have meant my family had fallen asleep, because when I unsteadily scampered away, nodoby even noticed. Must leave this place...
~♥~
A year later...
I spent the next entire year teaching myself to hunt, and also searching for my perfect home, but to no avail. Hunting wasn't a problem anymore, I'm actually pretty good at hunting, it was the home. After a year, I'm still searching, and sadly not finding.
Finding that one special place seemed to be so impossible to me, yet somehow I knew I could find it one day... One day I would.
I was right, because finally I found it, my pads almost bleeding and my eyes feeling bloodshot from my lack of much needed sleep. But I did it, I found the one place that I truly felt at ease... At home.
There was a large pool of water where a small waterfall fell down into it. Lily pads dotted the pool of water, and a small lush forest surrounded the place. A good sized cave lie at the edge of it, large enough for about two or three Goennecs to sleep inside. It was beautiful and amazing! It was absolutely, perfect.
At the sight of this wonderful place, I was suddenly completely awake, and the burn in my paws had vanished. I threw my body down the slope, paws pounding so fast I didn't know if they were even touching the earth beneath them.
The first thing I heard when I got in the gave was whimpering. Scenting blood, I was already rushing towards the very young Goennec. He seemed to be only about 2 weeks old, and the poor creature had a bleeding gash on his eye.
Gasping, I wrapped around him, gently stroking him and trying to calm him down. The poor thing, having nobody to care for him...
~♥~
Two weeks after the encounter of the helpless infant...
I woke up to something padding me in the gut, somethin I've gotten used to by now. "Morning Fero," I murmured sleepily, opening my eyes to see his darkly colored smiling face. I had remembered the name I heard when I had been born, and I wanted something to carry on that memory of when I was curled up next to my loving mother.
"Tapir, can we go to the waterfall?" His hopeful, squeaking voice made me laugh a bit. I'd taken him to the waterfall everyday for a week straight, but he never got tired of it. I never understood why, but somehow I felt as though he kept searching for something when we were there... I just couldn't explain why I felt that but I just... Did.
When we arrived to the usual sound of peacful trickling water and tweeting birdsong, I smiled for a moment, letting Fero run on ahead, but within heartbeats I was racing to his side, shielding him with my body. Something was wrong here, I knew it. Something, or someone, was here.
"Who's there?" I called out in as strong of a voice as I could manage. No reply. Fero squirmed around, trying to break free from my protective grasp, but I was not about to let him be killed by fate. If I had to, I'd change his fate. Fate had already done enough to him, which was proven by the scar that slid down his eye, now causing him to be blind in one eye.
Suddenly I felt him struggle free from my hold, and in a flash he was bolting for a darkly colored female goennec who... Who looked just like him.
"Mama!" I heard him breath as he threw himself at her. At that moment, I could have sworn my heart had been ripped in two. But I should have known, every hello ends with a goodbye.
I watched as she took him into her own grasp, loving and protective, but I could never have imagined what I saw next; Or what I didn't see. No eye occupied the area where there should have been her right eye, all it was was her bare skin, the fur ripped from it.
I saw her look over at me, and I knew I should have probably ran into the forest or at least looked away, but my eyes, as well as my body, were frozen, locked.
"My mate." she finally spoke, her voice sounding rather rasping and cracked. She must have still seen the utter shock on my face because, though I could tell it killed her to speak of this, she carried on. "The whole time I knew him, he had been so good to me, always loving me and caring for me. I had Tolero with him, but ever since I told him we were going to have a child... He changed. He was overly protective, and easily jelouse. It started where if I spoke to any male, he'd end up stopping our conversation and taking me away, and then it was with females as well. By Toleros birth, no one could come within many tail lengths from me, so he moved us here, where no one would be around us. I grew tired of our fights, and I finally took Tolero and tried to escape while my mate was hunting, but he... He tracked me down. I knew he was coming for me, I could feel it. So I left Tolero just outside the cave and ran, but he came after me, and... And..." It sounded as if she wasn't even speaking to me anymore, like she thought she was the only one there.
"And he tried to kill you." I finished for her quietly, watching her nod while a few tears welled into her eyes.
"I ended up throwing him over a cliff, and into the raging waters below... I honestly don't even know if he's dead. After that, I kept looking for Tolero... Thank you. You kept him safe while I couldn't." her voice came out in a whisper so low that I had to step forward a bit to hear her.
"Mama, daddy gave me this scar, didn't he?" I suddenly felt tears threaten to burst from my eyes as he asked that, and a couple of those tears broke loose as I saw his mother slowly nod, tears over her own falling onto the soil. "Its okay mama, if he's not dead, then one day, when I'm tall and strong, il kill him for you, and he'll never hurt us." those words, so strong and determind, somehow made him seem so much older and wiser to me, not like the young goennec I had known the past four weeks. "I'm sure you will baby." his mother whispered through her tears.
"We have to go now, and you'll never see us again, but I promise you that you will be in both our hearts forever." Toleros mother spoke more clearly to me, but I could tell she was broken inside, and to tell the truth, I was breaking too. "As will you in mine." I finally whispered back, and with that, I watched them walk off together into the dawn light.
"Wait." I heard Tolero say to his mother, racing back towards me. "Il never forget you Tapir" he whispered as he snuggled close to my chest for a moment. "You'll always be my little Fero." I whispered back, licking his muzzle lovingly in goodbye.
~♥~
Ever since that day that I learned of her Cruel, Horrid past, my world seems different to me, knowing what I know. But il remain strong, and the memory of Tolero will stay within my heart until the day that I die, and even longer. When the time comes that I will fail to breath, and death is lapping greedily at my paws, he will be the thing I think about, nothing else.
~Likes~
a) Birdsong. Birdsong sooths Tapirs soul, calming her senses and letting her relax.
b) Sunset is her favorite time of the day, because it reminds her of when she was snuggled close to her mother, engulphed in the temting fragrance of warm milk the wafted from her mothers stomach.
Goennec Pen #: 6
Name: Malyaka, nicknamed "Mal"
How would you use him/her: In the RP, and she'd get a spot in my character thread as well as ordering art sometimes ^^
Define your Goennec:
Age: almost 3 years old
Likes:
Drawing, music, friends, the night sky, berries, the sun, warmth, moss, soft dirt
Dislikes:
Cold, heights, falling (long distances), being alone
Mal has a rare (for Goeys) mental disorder; in her species, they call it the "Emotionless Sickness" -which in retrospect, isn't the most accurate name - but to us humans, we know it by a different name; Autism, or more specifically, Asperger's Syndrome.
This has always put Mal apart from the other Goennecs she meets - she's different, she's strange, why does she act like that? - but it's never bothered her. She knows she is different, and that it often unnerves others, so she doesn't blame them for natural shunning of "different".
She is very shy and submissive, never one to take the lead or speak up. In fact, she doesn't speak that often to begin with, unless you're one of her best friends. Her soft, low voice is usually bottled up inside her, a few words here and there - but if you're a friend, you could be bombarded with a story or an explanation of something that just keeps going on and on. She won't notice if you're paying attention, though; she becomes lost in whatever she's saying.
Her thinking and actions are similar to that of a child -innocent, trusting, and usually not too complex. She is very easily unfocused and will often be found staring into space. Like a child, she reacts strongly to praises and is ashamed when she knows she is in trouble or has done something wrong.
She is very musically oriented. She can often be found humming quietly or tapping her paws on the ground in short rhythms. One of her other favorite things to do is doodle and create patterns and little drawings in the soft dirt. Either activity is able to put her mind at ease if she is ever feeling sad or upset.
She's usually pretty awkward around other Goeys; her social skills... well, not that great. She'll usually simply listen to the conversations of those around her, not often joining in. That doesn't really make her antisocial, though; quite the contrary. She loves to be in the company with others, and is very withdrawn when she is by herself (which she tries not to be by herself often). When she was little, she was always treated by the adults like, because of her "sickness", she would not be able to survive if she was on her own.
Not only was she the weird, quiet, sick one, but she was also the girl with four paws - she's weird, she's different, the other kids would whisper amongst themselves when they thought she couldn't hear. The hurtful words never bothered her though, and she never hated those who put her down.
Mal often speaks in monotone, and very rarely shows much expression. Her way of speaking tends to be somewhat formal sounding, and she is often thought to be "unfeeling". She doesn't often understand jokes or puns unless they are explained, and even then she doesn't see the humor in them.
Eye contact isn't one of her strengths. When talking or listening to someone, she might be looking down, she might be looking at the trees, the bushes, someone nearby -but her eyes will never look at the other Goennec's face for long, maybe a quick glance before looking away again. She's also fidgety, and even when sitting still her tail will no doubt be flipping steadily against the ground behind her. Mal also seems to generally feel uncomfortable in her own body, and often stumbles.
Her father was a human raised Goey, his human was a Musician. This no doubt stemmed Mal's interest in music, as her father taught her all of the things he learned from his human. She can read and write music; some of her drawings are songs she may have hummed earlier and wanted to write down. She knows everything about music, and loves explaining it to friends; most of the time, they get lost among all the musical terms and end up tuning her out until she stops talking. Not like she'll notice, of course.
Mal is a slight insomniac. She can often be found gazing at the moon and stars, wondering what's up there. She doesn't wake up in the middle of the night nearly as much as she did when she was younger; now, only one or two nights are spent awake. Even though she doesn't get much sleep those nights, she hardly ever shows if she's tired.
"Yes, Father?" The quiet, emotionless voice asked, the young Goey not glancing up from her drawings as she heard her father approach. "What are you drawing?" He asked warmly, looking over her little shoulder to see the music scrawled in the dirt. Suddenly caught up in explaining one of her favorite topics -forgetting her father, the one who taught her most of it, knew it all already - she pointed to the notes. "Well, here is a triplet B -it's all in bass clef, by the way -" she gestured quickly to the clef doodled to the side before returning to the notes -"followed by a half note D. Then are some eighth notes and a whole note," she continued, showing him as he watched with a quiet smile. "Lastly are three quarter notes. I created the song earlier, it sounds like this." Her stoic expression changed slightly, as she began humming the slow but beautiful tune.
"That was lovely, Mal," her father applauded when she was done. Although her face didn't show much, pleasure at the approval radiated from her. "What do you call it?"
"A Peaceful Tune," Mal clarified, while her father stifled a quick chuckle. Although her daughter was brilliant and creative, she had never been good with naming things...
Mal's eyebrow rose a fraction at his reaction, but dismissed it as nothing important and turned back to her drawing. "Well, I won't disturb your artistic genius anymore for now. You seem like you still have a lot to do, my busy bee," he commented with a smile as he turned to leave. Mal turned her head a fraction to the side, a slight look of question on her face. "Busy bee? I... don't really understand. I am not a bee," she explained, "I am a Goennec." He grinned at her; he should've expected that. "It's an expression, my dear," he clarified. "I called you it because you are busy at work, and bees are often busy collecting pollen, yes? A busy bee is simply a term for someone who is busy."
"Oh," Mal said simply, turning again to her work. "Okay." Her father turned to leave again, and was too far away to hear by the time she mumbled monotonously,
"But I am not a bee. I still don't get it."
Goennec Pen #: 7.
Name: Takuo; though simply goes by 'T' quite often.
How would you use him/her:In many ways! First off, I'd love to use him in the RP along with Kaze! Also, I'd make sure to draw and/or get lots of art of him, and take great care of him. I love horses; and przewalskis are some of my favorites, I just love them, and that he shares their markings make him even better than he already is! My character thread is currently a major WiP, but once I finish I'd make sure he'd get a spot there, of course, and I'd love to write stories about all of his mischeif and adventures...and misadventures. XD;
Define your Goennec:
Personality~
Spunky, wild, and up to no good...usually. That's Takuo to a T. Which, in fact, is quite fitting, considering that this young male prefers to drop his full name and just stick with the first letter. Perhaps because it's more casual, maybe because, well, he just likes it much better. 'T' is adventurous and fun-loving, and very....very...outgoing. So much, to the point, where he speaks out to almost any random goennec and in some situations where he should just keep his mouth shut. No, he's not rude, just curious and spunky. T almost always needs to be doing something, whether it's exploring the very edges of the lush valley in which he and the rest of the herd lives, confronting a shy garter snake before it slithers away, or just racing the other kids and laughing, telling jokes. He also enjoys visiting the herd's friendly elders on occasion, enjoying their optimism and joy.
T is nearly always up to mischeif, and you can nearly always see his striking golden eyes shining with happiness or excitement; rarely is this little goennec upset. He is very talkative; and along with his outgoing nature, he is a pretty easy goennec to become friends with--unless you find his hyper personality and antics annoying, in which case...he may not be your best fit. However, T is nearly always friendly to everyone, and can easily cheer you up if you happen to be down. After all, it's pretty hard to keep a frown on consistent on your face when a big bundle of fur is bouncing around, beaming and laughing. He's a great friend, and loves to run, racing through the grasses, and exploring, climbing his way up small hills of rock, and jumping--or rolling-- back down. Though still young; he has experienced one snowfall, and loved it. He enjoys leaping through the crystally white flakes, chasing and playing with the other kids in the herd, and feeling and hearing the crunch of snow beneath his paws. He loves waking up after a long night of snow, shaking the flakes of his tan fur, maybe sneezing from crystally snow on his nose, and enjoying the silence and serene landscape around him. But, of course, he doesn't just enjoy the view long...within minutes he's leaping, running, and rolling ears-over tail down drifts of snow, waking the entire herd with whoops and cheers of joy. The other kids would come, either with him or not long after, and they'd tumble and play-spar in the snow, skidding down slopes and having loads of fun. The adults...well, at first I'm sure they don't appreciate being woken nearly at dawn by an excitable kid, though after awhile their eyes are sure to shine with amusement.
Though, he dislikes anyone messing with his freidns or family, though that almost never happens. He loves his relatives, and his friends, and it seems like, along with his parents, the whole herd is his family. He certaintly has spoken to each member at least once, and rarely does he not recognize a herd member, and if he does, he has to trot over and exclaim a friendly 'hi!', before going off to play once more. It's definately easy to say Takuo is very easygoing and excitable; carefree and outgoing, always friendly.
He also enjoys autumn, watching the brilliant colored leaves, crimson and gold; swirl down from the treetops, as if the whole valley was experiencing a colorful rainstorm; bright and cheerful. He loves to leap into piles of vibrant leaves, scattering them through the forest and into the valley once more; a few spare crimson leaves caught on his fur, though he pays it no heed, and just prances forward, in fits of giggles and laughter, always having fun.
Takuo is really, despite his hyperness {which some goennecs enjoy, others roll their eyes at} a great friend, one you can trust and laugh with, having almost endless fun; but knowing that you have a great, trustworthy and loyal friend all the same.
Story/ies~
Hmm...I'll probably just do a few short stories, and maybe a long one? XD; *shrugs*
Snow Day
The sun glittered warmly in the dawn sky, sending strikes of pink and crimson through the horizon. The entire valley shimmered, shadows and reflections from the sun dancing and twirling in a world of feathery white; of ice and delicate flakes of snow. The previous night; monstrous grey clouds, heavy with moisture; had let loose, sending flakes of shimmering ivory snow whirling and twisting through the air, before settling down on the ground. After a long night of snow; the valley which a herd of goennecs called home was shining; covered in towering drifts of snow. The storm's cold fingers had touched everything; from the delicate green leaves that still remained, bravely clinging to the trees; to the crystally stream, its shallow parts and near the banks frozen through and dusted with white powder; even settling on the goey's fur, giving their multicolored pelts a clean, icy tinge. This was the year's first snow; the season was late fall, almost drawn into winter; and the temperatures plummeted; the goey's gentle breath as they dozed, pressed together for warmth, hung in the air, as if each goennec were surrounded by a fine crystal mist. Not only was it the year's first snow...it was the first for the young goey kids who had been born that year; and it promised to be exciting. Especially for one tan and black furred kid, who always seemed to be up to mischeif and fun.
"Whoo!" A high-pitched squeal echoed through the valley, bouncing off of slick, ice-covered rocks and trees, only slightly by the soundless snow. Startled; a few nearby ravens, black feathers slick with frost, cawed a warning and took off, gliding over the mountains that rimmed the goennec's home, and disappearing into the milky sunlight.
Takuo scrambled up and gazed around, mouth gaping wide and amazement shining in his vibrant golden eyes. His beige fur was ruffled and slicked against his side where he had been lying among the other goeys the previous night; warm and oblivious to the snowstorm which had taken place all around him. A few annoyed grunts came from some of the adult goennecs around him; frustrating at being roused at dawn; on such a frozen day. To them, they had seen ice and feathery, frozen flakes every winter, and would very well have it that it would never happen again; if it never snowed once more in their lifetimes it would be too soon for them.
But not for the young goey who called himself 'T'. To him, it was miraculous, extraordinary, and every single synonym to 'amazing' he could possibly come up with. For a moment, he just stared, amber eyes wide and shining with excitement and wonder. "Whoo!" he cried out, rearing up on his hind hooves and pawing the air with excitement. Eager to be the first kid to experience the snow; he scrambled through the other goennecs, a few adults grumbling as he trodded on stray tails and paws. "Wha-" with a gasp, T stumbled, rolling ears over fluffy tail down the sheltered slope where the herd had slept, and landed with a thud on his back; deep in snow. "Brrrr..." he shivered, shocked. He hadn't expected the white stuff to be so...cold! It was frigid; he supposed he had expected it to be soft and fluffy, like the wispy white clouds that sailed gently through the azure sky when it was warm. But then again...he didn't know what clouds felt like, either. Could they be just as wet and cold? He didn't know.
Shaking his fur, he scrambled up, dancing his paws and hooves as to not keep them on the frozen ground too long. He shivered, then fluffed out his fur, trying to combat the chill. He spotted a few other kids perk up their ears and scramble up, and he wagged his tail, leaping towards them. "Well?" He laughed, golden eyes shining, "What are you waiting for?" He whipped around; and tried to jump over the crystally drifts, his paws and hooves sinking in to the snow up to his wobbly knees; laughing and bucking in joy. With a wild cheer he leapt up and scrambled up a nearby pile of rocks, slick with ice, and stood, panting on top, gazing around as the life in the valley stirred; some grumbling as being woken so early; others stretching and talking together as they made their way down from the rise; a few who were already up and alert, pawing at the snow to reveal the still-feathery blades of sweet grass that were hidden beneath the ice and snow. This was his home; this was his herd. This was where he belonged. He puffed out his chest; feeling as though he would burst with pride. With a loud whoop he leapt up and skidded down the slabs of stone; and bounded over through the coold, wet flakes to join the other kids who were playing and chasing eachother through the snow; bright amber eyes shining with joy.
Next Stories
A light wind swirled gently through the air, twisting and turning, winding down towards the earth; and wrapping the broadleaf trees, and pines in its invisible arms, rustling the leaves and needles gently, as if it was a hushed whisper. These trees were special. No, they didn't hide miraculous treasure of shining materials that glinted in the sun, or sprout leaves and roots faster than any other plants alive. No, there was much more to them than that--and much less. So what made them special? Why, their location, of course! For these beautiful trees, though quite common in looks, bordered a lush valley, where the mostextraordinary of creatures thrived. This wondrous valley, rimmed by blueish mountaintops and towering oaks, splattered with streams and small ponds, was where the goennecs called home. And that made it the most special place of all.
"Kaze! Kaze, come on, wake up already!" A high-pitched voice, somewhat like a whine, stirred the rime-grey ram, accented with ivory white markings, from sleep. His mouth gaped in a yawn, and he fought the urge to curl up and fall asleep once more. But the gentle sun was calling, and the warmth must have already begun to melt the refreshing dew off of the grasses. Not to mention the young goey that was standing eagerly in front of him would dare let him sleep even a wink more. But he didn't mind; Kaze was a friendly, bubbly goennec, and he had enough energy to keep up with the tan-furred kid that never seemed to be out of energy. Yawning again, Kaze forced himself to blink open his emerald eyes, still sticky with sleep, and grinned, spotting the little goey Takuo, who called himself 'T', bouncing from paw-to-paw, from hoof-to-hoof.
T put on an expression of faux anger, scrunching up his face and narrowing his striking amber eyes. "Come on, Kaze!" He called, trying to sound frustrated but utterly failing, his squinted eyes shining with laughter. With a feigned snarl, he lowered his still-growing horns, and pawed the ground, trying to look threatening; like a ram who was about to charge into battle. "Oh, you want to fight, do you?" The larger, rime-grey ram asked, emerald eyes shining with amusement. "You won't stand a chance!" Takuo challenged. Kaze grinned and shook himself, trying to fluff out the fur on his side--which had flattened to his skin from where he had slept the previous night before. "You're on!" He laughed, jumping up and lowering his full-grown, ebony horns, their tips glinting in the sun. T grinned, glad the older ram had decided to join in his game. Of course, Kaze would never actually try to fight the little one--it was just a playfight game; and he was being as gentle as possible. "Hey!" he exclaimed, laughing, as T rammed into him, his ivory kid horns pressing into his fur; making contact, but not painful. "I'm going to get you!" Kaze grinned, lowering head in a playful challenge. Swiftly he swung his head, making sure to stay far from the young one.
T ducked as to further avoid Kaze's faux blow, and crouched into the feathery grass, almost so he was submerged; somewhat invisible in the ocean of cool green. He waggled his fluffy, ebony-hued tail, grinning, his vibrant golden eyes shining with excitement. He watched as Kaze glanced around, looking surprised {though Takuo didn't know if he was faking it or not}, and narrowed his eyes, zoning in on his 'target'. Tensing his legs, he took a deep breath and dug his front paws into the dirt, gripping to the tough roots and sprigs of grass, planning to push off with his front legs as well as his back hooves, which were dug into the dirt, to back up his leap with as much strength as he could get. "Wahoo!" He cried, pummeling himself forward, and knocking into Kaze, his striking amber eyes glinting with laughter.
Kaze, who had been keeping track of where the little goennec was, perked his ears, then spotted T hurtling towards him. "Whoa--" he began, when Takuo rammed into him. Dramatically, he gasped, and took a wobbling step sideways, falling into a total act. "I've been hit!" He cried, staggering forward and collapsing on his side. Of course, he was fine--T's horns were still growing in, and didn't cause any damage, or hurt him. However, to Kaze, there was no reason not to be as dramatic as possible about the playfight--at least with T. The kid had a somewhat similar sense of humor, and they always had loads of fun whenever T bounded over to Kaze-- often with their dramatic 'fights'. Of course, T most often played with the other kids, though he loved Kaze's jokes and creative, wild, and on-the-spot stories; as did nearly every kid in the herd. T thought of Kaze as somewhat of a role model--he was, really, like an older brother to him.
T widened his eyes as Kaze toppled over, then realized, with laughter shining in his golden eyes, that Kaze--who had fallen limp with an occasional tail flick or such--had been faking the whole time. "Hey!" he laughed, bounding over and butting him in the side. Kaze grinned and got up, laughing. "So, what do you think of my...totally amazing acting skills?" He asked, amusement shining in his emerald eyes. But Takuo was laughing to hard to answer, and instead pawed the ground, swiping the air with his horns with a challenge, to the goennec he thought of as an older brother. "Race ya! There's no way you're gonna win, I'm the fastest goennec in the world!"
I have these pics so far. c:
And a T animation. 8D Flat colored only because I don't think I'd be able to finish it in time if I added shading.
