"Well there ain't nuthin' but heroes and villains,
More villains than heroes, but can you tell one from the next?
All lined up from East to West, black hat born or an 'S' on your chest."

--

There have always been two sides - the heroes and the villains. Every fairytale, war, and playground free-for-all brawl - you pick a side and fight for your cause.

But has anyone really stopped to think, who's cause is truly just? Do we take up arms for one side just because of our heritage? Do we ever really stop to think, that the heroes might be the villains and the villains just might be the heroes?

The year is 2110. And a century later, the USA is in chaos.

The warped and corrupted American government is on the verge of a total meltdown, and as a last resort, dangerous species of bioweaponry put out of commision after World War IV (yes, I just said four) are being reactivated to seek out and destroy bands of foolhardy rebels fighting the law. To extinguish the threat would mean wiping out most of their population, as few loyalist cities remain. And that is a risk they are willing to take to restore order.. and peace.

After WWIV, the American government's structure was so corroded, that injustice became law. To the civilians, this meant rebellion became duty. With most all major cities west of the Mississippi under their control, they launch volley after volley of war campaigns against their former governing body. Despite their lack of organization and a figure of main authority, most all of the divisions remain free of infighting and bedlam.

The army stays inactive in their refuge east of the Appalachian Mountains, sending their forged biological paramilitary war machines to try and dent the rebel forces, most of which are mere cannon fodder by now. An all-out assault seems unavoidable to vanquish the threat to their society. They have decided to release the strongest and most horrifying of the lot, which may spell doom for the other side.

When in Rome, I suppose, do as the Romans, destroy your home.

The rebels are currently holding back the bioweapons with a remarkable lack of damage to their forces. Aside from the occasional mishap resulting in wounded, things run smoothly. The safe zones for the rebels are becoming pacified, sleeping heavily at night knowing they can swat away anything the government sends at them with one disdainful flick of the wrist, their victory going to their heads. But what happens when the army unleashes the big guns?

The worst part is.. no one really even knows why this whole thing started..

o. Enviroment .o

A hundred years into the future, the world has changed slightly. With long strides forward in advanced technology, we now have the means to do things science fiction writers of our time could have never dreamed up. We have pressed onward on the battle front in two more World Wars, and the quality of our weapons has increased ten fold.

Due to leaps ahead in modern technology, we now hold the power to manipulate gravity in the slightest way. With a cell phone-like device in one's possession, gravity's hold is decreased partially, allowing for more manueverability in the battle field. With less gravity, we can perform feats that most normal humans of now cannot. Such as run half way up a wall and do a flip off of it, using it as a springboard to launch back, along with a longer hangtime enabled. This technology is also included in most fighter jets and other military weapons.

Most Internet servers are (oddly enough) still running, despite the landlines and cell towers being inactive. Fashion honestly hasn't changed or improved much (it repeats, like history).

Our guns are basically still the same.. except we're kind of using AK-147's and M-64A3's. Remington has made the 1340 Autoloading shotgun and Ruger has a Mini-94 out. Like I said, things really haven't changed.

[ Feel free to use guns/weapons from today. c: ]

--

o. Bioweapons .o

When the term 'biological weaponry' is mentioned, most people immediately think of things like "Captain Tripps" or the "Superflu" in Stephen King's The Stand, or corpses brought back to life by 2-4-5 Trioxin in The Return of the Living Dead series.

But what I refer to in the use of the word 'bioweapons' are genetically altered, maurauding creatures of mass destruction. Most are controlled by handlers (with commands relayed via transmitter), while others are just set loose to annihilate anything in their paths. Few are intelligent enough to strategize in battle, and most have very simple thought processes or simply run on instinct. Some have the brain capacity to use uncomplicated weapons, such as swords, axes, and other medieval type weapons. Thankfully, none have the knowledge to work a gun (that are known).

As to what they look like, they can range from eerily humanoid to canine, and some don't look like much of anything at all. Most are unnamed, but a few more common ones can be identified by any violent seven year old child. Such as the wolf based Lyset (liss-it), which were used by police forces to tame riots, or the winged stalk-and-ambush predators dubbed the Ifeissi (e-fai-sigh). Some actually wear armor and helmets, others have been outfitted with biomechanics for optimum performance.

[ Most anything you can come up with for an enemy type will be accepted. I'm just clarifying what I mean when using this term. If you come up with an awesomesauce species but can't think of a name, try here. :3 ]

--

o. Rebels .o

With what has become to be their 'capital' of sorts being Saint Louis, most of the surrounding area has been "scavenged" for supplies, or looted by rogues, or both. The rebel forces are actually spread throughout the Western states, though St. Louis has the most people, working as a base of operations. Medical staff run one of the hospitals located in the city, tending to the wounded. Due to a lack of paying jobs, most everything is bartered for, or free, depending on the person you buy from. There is now a platoon of "minute men," similar to the Revolutionary War, ready to wage war against any hostile force that enters their territory.

Thanks to a squad of electricians, the power source for the city is up and running, though not eliminating a need for back-up generators, due to the sporadic power outages still experienced. The streets are no longer clogged with cars, done respectfully by a work force of laboring civilians. Cars are currently not in use, do to the scarce nature of gasoline. As mentioned before, there is a running hospital, which, strangely enough, has a neurosurgeon and a diagnostician, along with a brigade of nurses ready to sew up anyone who comes in.

Some of the forces are organized, working together to destroy threats, while others are rogues with nothing better to do than throw themselves into relentless battles. Fights over petty things are not uncommon (like who stole who's copy of People) and are easily dismissed by the citizens, but (rarely) some arguements turn to bloodshed and death.

--

o. Government .o

The President is currently at an undisclosed town in West Virginia, thanks to some rebel who got their hands on a nuke and blasted the White House to oblivion. The army is stationed and training in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, and the bioweapons are being held at a secret facility in Kentucky, along with their handlers, breeders, and trainers.

Unlike the rebels, the government has a steady economy going, hiring loyalists to work in factories to produce things needed for war, such as ammo, bullet-proof vests, and MRE's - Meals Ready to Eat. A few have even been drafted as soldiers in the armed forces.

Despite having reached out for help from other nations, the USA's pleads have been ignored.

I'm guessing a few of them said something like; "Screw you and good riddance~"

-.Rules.-

1. I expect you to be semi-literate or above. Meaning two or three paragraphs per post. No half-assed paragraphs, either. At least five good, well written sentences per, like your Grammar teacher would expect of you. Correct spelling and knowledge of proper punctuation are musts. Third person POV, please. c:

2. Keep. It. Real. As real as people being attacked by biological engineered mutants and the government can get. While I have allowed for humans to be able to perform certain tasks some cannot, I expect it to be as realistic as possible. No running around with chainsaws and dodging every hit. Really.

3. If I make a mistake, please correct me. See something mis-spelled? Tell me. This is more of a suggestion than anything.

4. No God-modding, Mary Sues, Power Playing.. You know the drill.

5. While your characters may be prejudiced, I will ream you if you make any insulting OOC comments on a person or character's sexuality, race, etc. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. Respect your fellow members and keep your snarky words to yourself and we'll all get along fine.

6. Please wait for my post of acceptance before starting.

7. Romance, infighting, and other things are perfectly welcome here. Just remember the main 'plot' of this role play is the battle between the rebels and the government.

8. Real pictures only, anime will not be accepted.

9. All forum rules apply, of course.

If you actually read these, don't put 'Heroes & Villains' in red in your form.

Re: Heroes [Human] && [Future] Villians

Postby Phantasmagoria » Wed Aug 11, 2010 7:58 am

Username: Zeev
Name: Alice Milanesi, goes by "Malice."
Age: Twenty-Three
Gender: Female
Orientation: Bisexual
Appearance: Click. (6')
Personality: Quiet and withdrawn, Alice prefers to ignore most people, and does a pretty good job at it. She is strangely enigmatic, but she bears her nickname well, give her a fight and it may as well become a massacre. With violent tendencies and the angst of a depressed teenager, she appears to be remorseless and insensitive, not exactly the type to kill and care. One the other hand, she can be rather random, her sense of humor dark and morbid, she is able to offend most anybody within the first five words out of her mouth. She is irritable and pessimistic, usually able to get angry at anyone who even says "Hello." passing by her.
Strengths: Her lack of attachment to people means she could care less what happens to them, making her excellent at just moving on when someone she knows falls in combat. Close quarters combat is her specialty, and she has reflexes good enough to dodge most blows on a subconcious level. She does well when paired up with a fighter who can fight from a distance, or just distract the damn thing so she can flank it.
Weaknesses: It only takes one hit to put her out of commission due to her frailty, and her many fears aren't much help, such as failure, dying, dead people, ladybugs.. Ranged attacks are beyond her capabilities, meaning she has to get a little too close for comfort for a kill.
WOC: A sword... Seriously.
Other: N/A

Username: Zeev
Name: Onix Silveira
Age: Seventeen
Gender: Male
Orientation: Queer as a three dollar bill.
Appearance: Click. (5'7'')
Personality: Overly-cautious, Onix isn't one for fighting. He usually runs to hide somewhere when an enemy shows up, and is not afraid to admit his cowardly ways. He is talkative and is hard to shut up once he starts speaking. He is sarcastic and inappropriately blunt, with a knack for pissing people off. He is easily distracted and has problems focussing. He isn't the best at following instructions, and his navigational skills are poor. He is moody and biased, and rather paranoid that something is stalking him all him all the time. He seems naïve to most, with no common sense whatsoever, even though he's usually the "I-don't-think-we-should-do-this" person. Constantly playing with his hair.
Strengths: He is ambidextrious and can therefore do most things with either hand, including shooting. He has a general knowledge of treating wounds and acts as a makeshift medic when no one else is available.
Weaknesses: Split second decisions, dealing with people, fighting in general.
WOC: Beretta M-9 9mm Hand Gun
Other: His father is a doctor at the hospital, thus his medical knowledge.

Username: Zeev
Name: James Creel
Age: Twenty-nine
Gender: Male
Orientation: Straight
Appearance: Click. (5'11'')
Personality: James is that guy every woman wants to slap or hit with their purse. He is obnoxious, arrogant, and perverse, yet he believes he has a way with "the ladies". He is rude and egotistic, along with his stubborn ways and lack of common courtesy. In other words, he's an insensitive ass. He is bordering sexist, strongly profane, and conceited.
Strengths: Manipulating people, acting as a sentinel.
Weaknesses: He is indecisive, and not very good at leading others. He also expects to much of himself and often goes past his limits, though he hasn't met with death because of it yet. He is insecure and disarmed when rejected by a woman. A habitual smoker.
WOC: An old school AK-47, complete with bayonet, scope, and laser sight. Wooden stock. c:
Other: Has an ex-wife and a three year old son, neither of which has he seen since this happened, slight Austalian accent.

--

Username: Zeev
Name: Rain Owens
Age: Fifteen
Gender: Female
Orientation: Straight
Appearance: Click. (5'9'')
Personality: Will do anything for attention, Rain is a borderline kleptomaniac and a resilient young fighter. She is outgoing and ambitious, despite her attitude problems. She is impulsive and a natural problem solver, though over-emotional and dramatic at points. She is rather bossy and will tell you what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. She is flippant and nonchalant about this whole war thing, and fearless just to spite it.
Strengths: Scavenging for things, and uhm, running. x3
Weaknesses: Extremely OCD, dependent on others to defend her, major hearing loss in left ear, inability to speak in front of more than three people..
WOC: None. She just runs.
Other: Owns a rather large German Shepherd Dog named "Muerte."

Username: PossumCuber
Name: Neil Kain
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual
Appearance:Picture, 6'2
Personality: Tough, outgoing, hot-headed
Strengths: Prefers fighting up-close and has experience with a wide variety of weapons, from projectiles to melee weapons, and can basically pick up any weapon and know how to effectively use it, though he prefers rifles and sub-machine guns. He also has some training with spotting, but all of his tactical performances with it have never been more than average.
Weaknesses: Although Neil can make split-second decisions better than most people, he's never been the strategist, and most of his long-term plans, both in and out of combat, have failed. He also has a strong emotional attachment to his sister, and tends to lose his outgoing nature when he is separated from her..
WOC: Highly modified P90 TR
Other: Has a fraternal twin sister, Marika, who works closely with him. She's the only person he's ever been able to trust.

Username: PossumCuber
Name: Marika Kain
Age:19
Gender: Female
Orientation: Bisexual
Appearance: CLICK ME OR DIE
Personality: Quiet, passive
Strengths: Skilled in sniping, reconnaissance, and stealth, and has experience with most popular rifles. She can strategize well, and paired, with her brother, is nearly unstoppable.
Weaknesses: Unlike her brother, she has virtually no skills in close-range combat. When separated from her brother, she is virtually useless, as most of her confidence drains, knowing there is nobody to watch her back.
WOC: .338 Lapua Magnum L115A3
Other: She doesn't have the same trust issues her brother has, though again, she performs horribly without her brother watching her back.

(Can I join? ^.^;)

Username: ~Amberleaf~ (although you COULD just look up at above my post.... *grumbles*
Name: Amber Sakura Brown
Age: 16
Gender: female
Orientation: straight
Appearance: She has long copper-brownish hair (it's very dark in winter; in summer, it's a light golden colour) with light brown eyes. She has a small frame; while she's 5'4", she only weighs around 96 pounds, although this varies, depending on how much she eats (which is, honestly, not much). She generally wears mostly pink.
Personality: She dislikes fighting, although she can come up with strategies easily enough; she's rather smart, and a good debater. However, she doesn't have much foresight, which can lead her to make some pretty stupid decisions (with bad consequences). Oops! She doesn't generally show remorse or sadness for a mistake she's done, although she cries easily. She's very optimistic the rest of the time, though, and prefers to stay in the background of things, rather than right out on the battlefield, both metaphorically and literally.
Strengths: sharp mind (so good for inventing strategies right out of the blue); fast runner; good at healing
Weaknesses: somewhat clumsy when sleep-deprived; doesn't have a good aim (so useless in the battlefield)
WOC: A sharp-looking kind of kitchen knife. She doesn't usually have one of these on her; rather, she prefers to run first and ask questions later. If possible, she will find a knife and slash someone with it, though. Anything to save herself. She usually runs away before she can see the blood, though (she's rather softhearted).
Other: She has this cat which seems to follow her around and find her wherever she goes; a large calico female cat named Callie.

Malice muttered incoherently, slamming one black combat boot down on the fallen creature's neck, pulling the sword that had been embedded in the base of its skull. She scoffed, staring down at the pitiful excuse for an enemy laying at her feet. A Lyset, one of the government's early attempts at making living weapons after WWIII. She rolled her eyes, wiping her blade off on her pants, smearing burgundy on the blue denim. She wiped the sweat off her brow with her sleeve, green eyes glancing around before returning back to the kill. She couldn't believe that the military would still have one of their first and most primitive model of them, let alone set it loose to fight.

"Well, that's an old-timer, isn't it?" James smiled and slung his weapon over his shoulder, the stock against his hip and his right hand holding the pistol grip, pointing at the dead canine with the free one. "Still using that old thing, [censored]?" he gestured towards the sword she carried, chuckling as she did her usual glare-and-walk-away. Alice's soles thumped rhythmically against the pavement while she took her hair down, pulling it back into another equally scraggly ponytail. "Where you going, honey?" he asked, still standing where he was, grinning. He loved getting her angry. "Yo, you know they found a Rothid to the north, right? The army isn't scraping the bottom of the barrel, I'm sure of it."

Malice halted, cupping a hand to her ear. "Hear that? That's the sound of me not caring."

--

Onix squinted in the dark at the flatscreen that had been.. "accrued" for the living room, the television version of Snakes on a Plane for the fifth time, partially amused by the idiotic words they had chosen in rebellion of the censors. "Enough is enough. I'm tired of these monkey-fighting snakes on this Monday-to-Friday plane!" He rolled his eyes, wondering how anyone could say that with a straight face, tugging at the slide of an FNH 9mm, brow furrowing as he couldn't get it off. He pressed the release, leaning forward and dropping the green and black gun onto the coffee table. He grabbed the Beretta, which was next in line, removing the magazine and pulling the slide back, dropping the cartridge in the chamber into the palm of his hand. He raked his fingers through his hair, glancing at the door. He didn't mind sitting alone in the dark watching old movies on DVD, as he rarely even bothered leaving. Rain usually showed up a couple times a week, and she was as talkative as he was and she usually ended up sitting on the other end of the couch for an hour rambling on about the social economics of the new anarchy of the US. Mostly things he never understood for the life of him.

The television flickered black and the lamp sitting on the end table followed suit. Onix sighed, would those idiots ever get the power to work for one whole day without going out? He sat in the silence for a what seemed to be a few minutes, but nothing roared back to life. He swung his legs off the couch and reloaded his pistol. Time to go turn on the generator. He shuffled through a few drawers, finally grabbing hold of a flashlight and pressing the button to turn it on. He padded across the tile floor of the kitchen to a door in the hall, pushing it open and shining the light down. Treading down the stairs, he looked around, finally spotting the alternate source of power in a corner of the room. He stood over top of it for a small while, trying to remember just how the damn thing worked.

Finally remembering what he was supposed to do, he looked up from his work. A sliver of light fell across the concrete floor from between double doors that lead to the outside. He could have sworn he had closed it the last time he had been down there..

--

Rain glared into the darkness, holding a .22 revolver loosely in her right hand, odd for her, as she rarely carried a weapon, let alone a gun. It was late afternoon and the sun was going down, this would be the last place she would rummage through before returning home. She looked over her shoulder nervously, adjusting the messenger bag there. She stood outside the shattered glass of a Citgo convenience market window. She pulled back the hammer and leveled the gun towards the gaping blackness of the store, waiting for something bad to happen as she slipped through the door, crunching over shards of glass. She felt around one of the pockets of her bag, finding a flashlight and flicking it on, ruining her night vision. She narrowed her eyes and tried to make out what the labels on a few cans read, scowling. She pulled a few off the shelf, dropping them into her bag. She made her way towards the back, planning on grabbing a bottle of Mountain, the nectar to her ambrosia.

She laid her hand against what she believed was a shelf, yelping as the rack crashed to the floor. She turned off her light, shoving it into her pocket and grabbing the grip of her gun with both hands., pressing her back against the nearest solid thing. She recalled the last time she had raised a din in one of her scavenging hunts, and she had had back-up then. She felt her pulse flutter in her neck, while trying to keep her breathing under control. Rain glanced around, hoping nothing within earshot had heard her..

Re: Heroes [Human] && [Future] Villains

Amber Sakura Brown wasn't normally this reckless.

Oh, no.

She was usually cooped up in her room or another place somewhere, reading or - what else? - browsing the Internet. Although these days, there was not very much to do, at least it kept her from dying of boredom.
But today, Amber was sleeping in a tree. She'd gone into a nearby forest, which she knew was safe from any enemies - it was state-protected - and had climbed up a tree. She'd gotten into a comfy position, then wrapped a blanket around herself. But she hadn't meant to fall asleep.
Honestly, she hadn't.
It was just that, lately, she'd been up worrying all night, every night. Oh, it was only little things - if you could call it that - that she worried about, such as a bomb suddenly dropping on the city and wiping everyone out, or houses randomly collapsing because of... well, whatever you can use to make a house collapse. Maybe tunnel underneath the ground, and dig out the foundation? If that would even work.
As it was, Amber was currently in a fleeting state of consciousness. She was thinking, yes, but her body was pretty much asleep. She would fall into full sleep soon.
And then she heard a noise.
Krick. Krack. CRACK!
She almost sat bolt upright, but restrained herself. What good would it do? She was hidden in the blanket and the tree right now; no need to draw undue attention to herself.
The sound continued on for a moment longer, and then it vanished. Then, she heard a meow. It was distinctive in its voice, and that was when Amber knew it was Callie. But she couldn't call out; what if something else was in these woods? No, she had to stay still and silent, because what if she was wrong?
However, she wasn't wrong. A moment later, the cat jumped up to greet her. "Why, hello, Callie!" she whispered, and the cat purred loudly, settling into the blanket with her. Callie closed her eyes. "You want to sleep? Okay. That's fine with me," Amber murmured, hugging the cat, and looking around. It was still very dark outside. It wasn't quite safe for her to move around yet.
