"Well there ain't nuthin' but heroes and villains,
More villains than heroes, but can you tell one from the next?
All lined up from East to West, black hat born or an 'S' on your chest."
--
There have always been two sides - the heroes and the villains. Every fairytale, war, and playground free-for-all brawl - you pick a side and fight for your cause.
But has anyone really stopped to think, who's cause is truly just? Do we take up arms for one side just because of our heritage? Do we ever really stop to think, that the heroes might be the villains and the villains just might be the heroes?

The year is 2110. And a century later, the USA is in chaos.
The warped and corrupted American government is on the verge of a total meltdown, and as a last resort, dangerous species of bioweaponry put out of commision after World War IV (yes, I just said four) are being reactivated to seek out and destroy bands of foolhardy rebels fighting the law. To extinguish the threat would mean wiping out most of their population, as few loyalist cities remain. And that is a risk they are willing to take to restore order.. and peace.
After WWIV, the American government's structure was so corroded, that injustice became law. To the civilians, this meant rebellion became duty. With most all major cities west of the Mississippi under their control, they launch volley after volley of war campaigns against their former governing body. Despite their lack of organization and a figure of main authority, most all of the divisions remain free of infighting and bedlam.
The army stays inactive in their refuge east of the Appalachian Mountains, sending their forged biological paramilitary war machines to try and dent the rebel forces, most of which are mere cannon fodder by now. An all-out assault seems unavoidable to vanquish the threat to their society. They have decided to release the strongest and most horrifying of the lot, which may spell doom for the other side.
When in Rome, I suppose, do as the Romans, destroy your home.
The rebels are currently holding back the bioweapons with a remarkable lack of damage to their forces. Aside from the occasional mishap resulting in wounded, things run smoothly. The safe zones for the rebels are becoming pacified, sleeping heavily at night knowing they can swat away anything the government sends at them with one disdainful flick of the wrist, their victory going to their heads. But what happens when the army unleashes the big guns?
The worst part is.. no one really even knows why this whole thing started..

o. Enviroment .o
A hundred years into the future, the world has changed slightly. With long strides forward in advanced technology, we now have the means to do things science fiction writers of our time could have never dreamed up. We have pressed onward on the battle front in two more World Wars, and the quality of our weapons has increased ten fold.
Due to leaps ahead in modern technology, we now hold the power to manipulate gravity in the slightest way. With a cell phone-like device in one's possession, gravity's hold is decreased partially, allowing for more manueverability in the battle field. With less gravity, we can perform feats that most normal humans of now cannot. Such as run half way up a wall and do a flip off of it, using it as a springboard to launch back, along with a longer hangtime enabled. This technology is also included in most fighter jets and other military weapons.
Most Internet servers are (oddly enough) still running, despite the landlines and cell towers being inactive. Fashion honestly hasn't changed or improved much (it repeats, like history).
Our guns are basically still the same.. except we're kind of using AK-147's and M-64A3's. Remington has made the 1340 Autoloading shotgun and Ruger has a Mini-94 out. Like I said, things really haven't changed.
[ Feel free to use guns/weapons from today. c: ]

o. Bioweapons .o
When the term 'biological weaponry' is mentioned, most people immediately think of things like "Captain Tripps" or the "Superflu" in Stephen King's The Stand, or corpses brought back to life by 2-4-5 Trioxin in The Return of the Living Dead series.
But what I refer to in the use of the word 'bioweapons' are genetically altered, maurauding creatures of mass destruction. Most are controlled by handlers (with commands relayed via transmitter), while others are just set loose to annihilate anything in their paths. Few are intelligent enough to strategize in battle, and most have very simple thought processes or simply run on instinct. Some have the brain capacity to use uncomplicated weapons, such as swords, axes, and other medieval type weapons. Thankfully, none have the knowledge to work a gun (that are known).
As to what they look like, they can range from eerily humanoid to canine, and some don't look like much of anything at all. Most are unnamed, but a few more common ones can be identified by any violent seven year old child. Such as the wolf based Lyset (liss-it), which were used by police forces to tame riots, or the winged stalk-and-ambush predators dubbed the Ifeissi (e-fai-sigh). Some actually wear armor and helmets, others have been outfitted with biomechanics for optimum performance.
[ Most anything you can come up with for an enemy type will be accepted. I'm just clarifying what I mean when using this term. If you come up with an awesomesauce species but can't think of a name, try here. :3 ]

o. Rebels .o
With what has become to be their 'capital' of sorts being Saint Louis, most of the surrounding area has been "scavenged" for supplies, or looted by rogues, or both. The rebel forces are actually spread throughout the Western states, though St. Louis has the most people, working as a base of operations. Medical staff run one of the hospitals located in the city, tending to the wounded. Due to a lack of paying jobs, most everything is bartered for, or free, depending on the person you buy from. There is now a platoon of "minute men," similar to the Revolutionary War, ready to wage war against any hostile force that enters their territory.
Thanks to a squad of electricians, the power source for the city is up and running, though not eliminating a need for back-up generators, due to the sporadic power outages still experienced. The streets are no longer clogged with cars, done respectfully by a work force of laboring civilians. Cars are currently not in use, do to the scarce nature of gasoline. As mentioned before, there is a running hospital, which, strangely enough, has a neurosurgeon and a diagnostician, along with a brigade of nurses ready to sew up anyone who comes in.
Some of the forces are organized, working together to destroy threats, while others are rogues with nothing better to do than throw themselves into relentless battles. Fights over petty things are not uncommon (like who stole who's copy of People) and are easily dismissed by the citizens, but (rarely) some arguements turn to bloodshed and death.

o. Government .o
The President is currently at an undisclosed town in West Virginia, thanks to some rebel who got their hands on a nuke and blasted the White House to oblivion. The army is stationed and training in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, and the bioweapons are being held at a secret facility in Kentucky, along with their handlers, breeders, and trainers.
Unlike the rebels, the government has a steady economy going, hiring loyalists to work in factories to produce things needed for war, such as ammo, bullet-proof vests, and MRE's - Meals Ready to Eat. A few have even been drafted as soldiers in the armed forces.
Despite having reached out for help from other nations, the USA's pleads have been ignored.
I'm guessing a few of them said something like; "Screw you and good riddance~"

1. I expect you to be semi-literate or above. Meaning two or three paragraphs per post. No half-assed paragraphs, either. At least five good, well written sentences per, like your Grammar teacher would expect of you. Correct spelling and knowledge of proper punctuation are musts. Third person POV, please. c:
2. Keep. It. Real. As real as people being attacked by biological engineered mutants and the government can get. While I have allowed for humans to be able to perform certain tasks some cannot, I expect it to be as realistic as possible. No running around with chainsaws and dodging every hit. Really.
3. If I make a mistake, please correct me. See something mis-spelled? Tell me. This is more of a suggestion than anything.
4. No God-modding, Mary Sues, Power Playing.. You know the drill.
5. While your characters may be prejudiced, I will ream you if you make any insulting OOC comments on a person or character's sexuality, race, etc. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. Respect your fellow members and keep your snarky words to yourself and we'll all get along fine.
6. Please wait for my post of acceptance before starting.
7. Romance, infighting, and other things are perfectly welcome here. Just remember the main 'plot' of this role play is the battle between the rebels and the government.
8. Real pictures only, anime will not be accepted.
9. All forum rules apply, of course.
If you actually read these, don't put 'Heroes & Villains' in red in your form.
