Gus Tarrant
Legal Name:Aonghus Tarrant
Called:Mr. Tarrant or Angus by coworkers, Gus by everyone else.
Age:24
Gender: Male
Orientation: Hetero
Appearance: Gus is not a lithe and delicate waif of a person. He tends towards heaviness, with lots of muscle disguised by a little layer of fat which he tries to keep under control. He's fairly tall, and generally oversize for any particular room he's in. He's not graceful, but he moves like he knows exactly where he's going and what he's doing, and is confident that whatever the world throws at him next, he'll be able to handle it.
His features are somewhat heavy, with a strong brow ridge and jaw. His eyes are a dark grey with hints of other colours (green, brown and blue) depending on the timeline he's in. He tends not to meet your eyes, preferring to watch over your shoulder or look up at the ceiling, but when he does, the intensity in his gaze is surprising. The length and style of his sandy blond hair varies but it's usually a simple short hairstyle. (In one timeline, he had a ponytail. What was up with that?).
Whatever time and place he's in, he tends to dress in clothes that are fairly typical for people living there. He doesn't like to stand out for his clothing. He looks good in a suit though.
Height: 6 foot 3"
Weight: Varies.
History: WIP.
Current situation: Gus usually works in any number of interchangeable white-collar jobs, anywhere from junior partner in a law firm to insurance agent. He can't really dance (one of the Audacity's taught him how to waltz, but that's it), but he loves her enthusiasm for dance and teaching. :3
Perhaps they can be living together (Gus pays the rent, mostly, and Audacity pays for the food and cooks), and one of them is thinking about getting married? At the beginning anyway. In other timelines/worlds, they could live nearby, and maybe in one they already are married. Because anything could happen!! In short, current situation: varies.
At a glance, personality: Gus appears brave, capable, sweet, and someone who isn't always perfectly honest.
True personality: Aonghus is a mess of contradictions and exceptions. If you catch him on a bad day, or get off on the wrong foot with him, you might think he's a vindictive, cowardly, lying b*st*rd. On the other hand, he can seem an intelligent, kind, devoted, romantic dreamer. The truth is somewhere in between. Gus seems to be brave in most situations, because he knows that if he gets in over his head, he can simply jump out of trouble. The truth is that, deep down, he's a coward. He runs from his problems both in a timeline and through timelines. He hates telling people uncomfortable truths, and would rather lie to make someone feel better than help them confront a difficult problem. From years of long practice, he's an excellent liar (which comes in hand in his job, which is usually that of a lawyer).
Gus is prone to romanticism. He'd never admit it, but he's a big softy for sappy movies and eternal love. Part of his devotion and romantic outlook is his experience jumping through timelines, in which he's nearly always with the same lady. He knows she is truly something special. Gus would have liked to have been a philosopher or poet, the sort that would sing sonnets to a lady-love on a balcony... but he can't put two lines together, and his only attempt made Audacity curl into a ball of silent laughter and tears of amusement. He can, however, express himself in non-poetic ways, so that's okay then.
Other: His name is Gaelic, composed of the elements "aon" meaning one, and "ghus", a choice. His gift for jumping is genetic, and comes from his grandfather, who discovered the latent ability when he was able to jump to a timeline where the bomb that fell outside his house during the Blitz didn't explode. (His grandfather then went on to join the military and earn several metals for bravery, which he feels he doesn't deserve. He just jumped whenever he was in danger, that's all.) His surname, Tarrant, means traveller or trespasser.
